00:00Residents have backed the action by Kuala Lumpur City Hall and the Federal Territory's Land and Mines Office
00:08to reclaim management of a community hall in Taman Sri Sinar, Segambut.
00:13Taman Sri Sinar Residents Association Chairman Budihardy Sabe said he received complaints from residents
00:20that they were prohibited from using the community hall and its facilities
00:24because of certain trespassers taking over its management.
00:28Budihardy said the community hall and its adjacent structures were being used for business purposes
00:35with fees imposed for public use, which undermined its intended community purpose.
00:41He said residents do not seek to tear down the whole building,
00:44only that the community hall be restored to its original plan without the additional structures.
00:50Segambut MP Hanayo previously said DBKL and PTGWP had attempted to demolish the
00:57illegal structure adjacent to the Taman Sri Sinar community hall,
01:01which she said had been occupied by an unauthorized operator.
01:06Yeo, who is also the Youth and Sports Minister, said numerous notices issued by both DBKL and
01:12PTGWP for the operator to vacate the premises were ignored.
01:17She also said the operator had even commenced work to expand the illegal structure.
01:23She was responding to a video posted on Facebook in which a crowd was seen protesting
