00:00Two Selangor Urimay leaders, K. Gunasekaran and K. Sundaraju, have been arrested over
00:07a TikTok video criticizing two Selangor government programs for the Indian community.
00:13According to lawyer L. Menaga, their arrests occurred separately in Nilai Negeri Sembilan
00:18and Klang, Selangor.
00:20Menaga told FMT that police were granted a one-day remand order and that the pair will
00:25be released today.
00:27She said they are being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting
00:32a person's modesty, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behavior,
00:39and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1988 for misuse of network
00:45facilities.
00:47She added that the probe followed a police report by Selangor Executive Council member
00:51V. Papparaidu.
00:53In the video, the duo criticized the Indian Empowerment and Entrepreneurs Development
00:57Program and the Indian Entrepreneur Development Center.
01:01Urimay chairman P. Ramasamy said the Selangor government was intolerant of criticism and
01:06urged the police to act independently of political pressures from the Madani government.
