00:00Several top judicial and legal officers are leading candidates to replace Attorney General
00:08Ahmad Tariruddin Salih, who is set to become a federal court judge.
00:14Sources said possible candidates for the position include Solicitor General to Umar Saifuddin
00:19Jaffa, Trial and Appellate Division Head Tusuki Mokhtar and Prosecution Division Chief Masri

00:27Another possible candidate is Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission
00:32Legal and Prosecution Division Director.
00:36Another possibility is for a lawyer to be picked, and a source told FMT the leading
00:41candidate may be Azmi Ali, a senior partner at one of Kuala Lumpur's largest law firms.
00:48The source said another lawyer, Baljit Singh Sidhu, could be considered as well.
00:54According to the Federal Constitution, the AG is appointed by the Yang di-Pertuan Agung
00:58on the advice of the Prime Minister.
