00:00Hello, everyone. Today I'm talking about Buffy the Vampire Slayer, not the TV series, the
00:07movie that came out in 1992. And it was a comedy horror. But I went in thinking it was
00:13an actual horror movie, because there weren't many comedy horrors out back in the day. And
00:18when they did come out, they didn't do that well. I can't really, really remember the
00:24first comedy horror one I've seen. Maybe it was Buffy the Vampire Slayer. And it came
00:29out. There was a huge lineup for it at that year. People were lining up because you couldn't
00:34buy tickets online. So sometimes when people really wanted to see a movie, they actually
00:39slept outside, waiting so they can get in, so they can get a good seat. Imagine that.
00:47Nowadays, you just pick your seat, go in and come out. No problem at all. But back then
00:52it was a community of people that would actually save your seat and you'd be outside. It was
00:57such an experience. I did it once and it was wonderful. People were bringing coffee, having
01:03parties outside. They couldn't wait to see the movie. Buffy wasn't like that. But there
01:07were people waiting for that movie that would get there two, three hours earlier just to
01:13wait in line. And they got in on a Friday night and they had a blast. People were laughing.
01:19Some people walked out going, what did I just watch? But they loved it. And it had such
01:23a great cast. A really, really good cast. And four of the actors in the movie sadly
01:32passed away. Paul Reuben played a vampire in this movie. And if you don't know who Paul
01:37Reuben is, he was Pee Wee Herman. He created the character Pee Wee Herman. And Pee Wee
01:43Herman was hilarious. He died in 2023. And to me, just at a young age, and it was sad
01:50because he was known for Pee Wee Herman. He played that character more than any other
01:55characters. He did do some other movies and he did this one and he played a really, really
02:00good vampire in this movie. Now, he passed away in 2023. Rest in peace, Paul Reuben.
02:07That was his name. Most of the time though, he didn't interview that way. He always interviewed
02:12in the Pee Wee Herman uniform. So if you've never seen the Pee Wee movies, check it out.
02:16They're very funny and he's such a good actor. Now, the main vampire. So Paul Reuben was
02:23an assistant to the main vampire. And the main vampire died in 2019. Now, sadly enough
02:29I can't say his name. I have a pronunciation problem. I don't want to try because, well,
02:35I don't want to insult him. You know, insult the dead just in case I can't say it right.
02:41But he is a fantastic actor. He was in The Hitchhiker in 1980s and he was just so fantastic
02:48in that. He did Hobo with a Shotgun and sadly he died in 2019. And also Luke Perry. Luke
02:56Perry played kind of like, he was kind of like a nerd. He wasn't a popular kid. He wasn't
03:04really a nerd. He was kind of in between. Kind of like a spoof of Fonzie. He wasn't Fonzie
03:10but he kind of wanted to be Fonzie and he had a friend. And Luke Perry also died in
03:152019. And he was well known for Beverly Hills Cop 90210. If I'm incorrect on that, sorry.
03:23But I'm more than sure he was known for that. And he was doing some other movies too. And
03:28he died in 2019 as well. So those two actors died the same year. Donald Sutherland. He
03:37played Buffy's Watcher. Now, what the movie was about, and Donald Sutherland passed away
03:44this year. And he did many, many movies. He did the remake of Invasion of Body Snatchers.
03:49One of the best ending scenes ever in a horror movie really. It was just as creepy as all
03:55you can get out. So if you've never seen the remake of Invasion of Body Snatchers, you've
03:59got to check it out. Now, Christine Swanson, she was kind of a cheerleader with friends.
04:08Kind of a rich snob type character. Had bad dreams. And she now has an old man following
04:14her and she doesn't know the old man's following her. She talks to her friends and she's dating
04:21like a popular athlete from basketball. And the feel of the movie, even the feel of the
04:29beginning of the movie had a great soundtrack, great dialogue, great one-liners. Josh Whedon
04:36came up with the character Buffy. So the movie did well. It cost $7 million to make and it
04:42did well at the box office. Now, Luke Perry will be missed as well. All the people that
04:50I mentioned, rest in peace. I just get really tuned in when some of my actors that I've
04:56known for a long time are passing away now because they're older and even passing away
05:02young. So I'm just giving a moment for all who died in the movie. Rest in peace, all
05:09you four actors. That being said, the movie is fantastic and it really did have a fantastic
05:16cast. It had some other surprising people in it too. And I'm not going to tell you who
05:20they are. You might recognize them as well. But Josh Whedon did come up with Buffy the
05:24Vampire Slayer. He didn't direct it though, that I thought he did. It was a woman director,
05:31I believe, that directed it. I could be completely wrong. If I am, I'm going to put stupid on
05:36the back of me. But a woman director directed this and she did an amazing job with Buffy,
05:41an incredible job. And when I looked her up, it only looked like she did like four other
05:46movies and I'm like, why? She did a really, really good job with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
05:50I really thoroughly enjoyed that film. I would give it an 8 out of 10 easily, maybe
05:55even 8.5. And then when they came out with the TV series and I realized Josh Whedon was
06:00involved, when I watched the first episode, it had a completely different cast. And I
06:06was like, this is going to be good. This is going to be a hit. And it lasted seven years
06:10with a spinoff of Angel. That's all I'm going to say about the Buffy TV series. But the
06:15Buffy movie, there's so much goes on. Imagine a creepy man that comes up to a young Buffy
06:24into a gym at a school, just walks right into the school, goes to the gym and says, you
06:29need to come with me now to the cemetery. Can you imagine an old man saying that to
06:34someone in high school? So that scene was hilarious. And he knew stuff about what was
06:41going on with Buffy's dreams and that. So they built a friendship. And then of course
06:46there was a big fight scene. There's also another surprising appearance of somebody
06:50in here that I don't want to mention. I want you to see if you watch the movie, you might
06:55be able to see him, but it's also not his voice. His voice was dubbed because he couldn't
07:00do the line. It's kind of funny, actually. And he might also be uncredited. Anyway, bye
07:05for now, everyone. I give this an 8.5. I don't want to say too much more about the movie.
07:09I could give some spoilers, but if you've seen the TV series and never seen the movie,
07:13check out the movie. Check out Deadly Friend, Hobo with a Shotgun, Hitchhiker, 90210, Luke
07:20Perry's old TV series, if you're into that sort of thing. But Luke Perry is a great actor
07:25and he's sadly missed and all the other actors are. Bye for now and have an incredible day,
07:31everyone. And thank you again for watching.
