00:09Rhaenys Targaryen enters the battle for the blacks and does a terrific job in dealing

00:14a blow to the greens, eliminating hundreds of armed forces and sending King Aegon to

00:19the ground.

00:20She could have left matters like that, making it an astounding victory for the blacks despite

00:25the loss of Rook's rest.

00:26But she decides to turn around and hold her ground, taking on the far bigger Vhagar.

00:31It's a massive risk, but Rhaenys seems resigned to her fate and decides to go down fighting.

00:36Rhaenys' death is confirmed, and it has bigger implications for Rhaenyra going forward.

00:41Rhaenys is the wife of Corlys Velaryon, Rhaenyra's most powerful ally, and he'll be quite upset

00:46by her death, creating discourse among the blacks.

00:49After all, he's already distrustful of Rhaenyra and Daemon, and it was Rhaenys who brought

00:54their house over to the blacks in the first place.

00:57Not to mention, their side has lost one of its most powerful dragonriders, weakening

01:01their position going forward.

01:03As the battle of Rook's rest begins, it's spliced with a scene of Rhaenyra telling Jaeserys

01:08of the Aegon's dream prophecy, which was passed down to her by Vysaes in season 1.

01:13Jaeserys is Rhaenyra's heir, and she was likely to tell him at some point, but this is a pivotal

01:19moment for her to do so.

01:20Rhaenys is sending a dragonrider out to war, elevating the stakes and danger of the Dance

01:25of the Dragons, and she wants to ensure that Aegon's dream is secured as best as possible.

01:31With the war truly beginning and chaos erupting, Jaeserys has to know the larger stakes at

01:36risk.

01:37In Fire and Blood, Aegon is complicit in Cole and Aemon's plan to ambush the blacks at Rook's

01:42rest, and he rides with his brother to attack Rhaenys.

01:45While fighting both brothers, Rhaenys and Melis still manage to deal a near-fatal blow

01:49to King Aegon but eventually fall to Aemon.

01:52The biggest change in the episode is that Aemon betrays his brother, hoping to seize

01:58Rhaenys is also never described as having the opportunity to escape after bringing down

02:03Aegon.

02:04With the Battle of Rook's Rest, the Dance of the Dragons has officially begun, setting

02:08even more events into motion.

02:10On both sides, there will be political discourse following the event.

02:14With Aegon severely injured, Aemon rules King's Landing in his steed, bringing the green smoke

02:19competence and making them more dangerous for the blacks.

02:22Corlys Velaryon will be quite unhappy with the loss of his wife, likely leading to tension

02:27between him and Rhaenyra.

02:29There will be more battles to come, but Rook's Rest is likely the main stage for Season 2,

02:34and the rest of the season should be spent with the blacks trying to replenish their

02:38dragon-rider force.

02:39There are many untamed dragons roaming Dragonstone and Driftmark, and the blacks have already

02:44mentioned welcoming potential riders to try and claim them.

02:48Many of House of the Dragons Season 2's new characters will attempt to mount dragons,

02:53immediately making them crucial players in the war.
