00:00Welcome back everyone.
00:07It is Amelia.
00:08I hope you are fine.
00:09Damon's scenes in House of the Dragon season 2 have allowed for some notable character
00:14returns with one cameo in episode 6 seeming to finally conclude this arc.
00:18Much of Damon's season 2 narrative is original to the show, with his visions allowing for
00:23old House of the Dragon cast members like Millie Alcock, young Rai Nira, and Nanna Blondell,
00:29Lena Velaryon, to reprise their roles from season 1.
00:33Episode 6 had its most significant cameo yet, with Paddy Considine returning to the role
00:37of King Vysaes I Targaryen.
00:40Damon's season 2 arc followed up a major blowup with Rai Nira, where she grilled him for his
00:44role in the Blood and Cheese assassination and then some.
00:48Rai Nira strikes a nerve by stating that Vysaes never trusted Damon to be his heir, and his
00:53visions throughout the season explore his internal reaction to this insult.
00:58The ending of season 2, episode 6, seems to imply that Damon is finally moving on
01:04from this narrative in Harrenhal, meaning that the Vysaes scenes have drastic implications
01:09for his story going forward.
01:11Damon's first vision in episode 6 may seem familiar to television audiences, as it recounts
01:16a pivotal scene from the House of the Dragon season 1 premiere when Vysaes informs Damon
01:21that he's selected Rai Nira as his heir over him.
01:25Vysaes son died shortly after childbirth, causing Damon to refer to the boy as heir
01:30for a day, which the king takes as a grave insult, in turn banishing Damon to the Vale
01:35to live with his then-wife.
01:36This throne room scene has highly dramatic consequences in season 1, and season 2 shows
01:42how much it affected Damon.
01:44Much of Damon's House of the Dragon narrative explores his relationship with King Vysaes.
01:49Damon has complicated feelings of inferiority to his older brother, and this pivotal moment
01:54saw Vysaes fully pushing him away for his actions.
01:58Damon doesn't demonstrate much regret in the moment, but the vision implies he's deeply
02:02remorseful for his actions during this time.
02:05In the vision, he's physically trapped in the Iron Throne room with his brother, forced
02:09to emotionally respond to the words he said years prior and how they affected his brother,
02:14who only ever looked out for him.
02:17Damon's second vision in season 2, episode 6, is an entirely original scene where he
02:22stands by King Vysaes, who mourns the loss of his wife, Emma Arryn.
02:26Emma died giving birth to Vysaes' child, and this is a major turning point for the late
02:31king, whose health begins to descend after he feels he's lost his humanity after his
02:36wife's death.
02:37This vision is a construct from Damon's mind, further enforcing the regret from the first
02:42vision.
02:43Rather than going behind Vysaes' back and touting his own claim, Damon shows up to support
02:47Vysaes in a time of need.
02:49Of course, this isn't what happened in the Real House of the Dragon timeline.
02:53Instead, it shows what Damon wishes he would've done retrospectively.
02:58Had Damon lent his brother his strength in this time of need, the two could've lived
03:02a much happier and maybe even a longer life together.
03:05Damon blames himself for everything that happened between them and for everything that happened
03:10to Vysaes, feeling that he left his brother alone because of his own selfishness and immaturity.
