00:00Here's today's Derbyshire Times video bulletin.
00:03A Derbyshire man who stabbed his wife multiple times before locking her in their family home
00:08and fleeing the scene has been convicted of attempted murder.
00:12Mark Taylor attacked his partner with such force that the knife he was using snapped
00:16and the 57-year-old then grabbed a second knife and continued to stab her.
00:21He said, this will be the end of you before locking the doors to the house in Baslow and
00:25driving away.
00:26His wife tried to get help by shouting through the letterbox before crawling upstairs and
00:30shouting out of the front bedroom window, managing to catch the attention of a passing
00:34dog walker who alerted emergency services.
00:37Taylor, of Wheatlands Lane in Baslow, denied the offence but was found guilty yesterday
00:41after a trial at Derby Crown Court.
00:44He will be sentenced at a later date.
00:48Outline planning permission has been granted to demolish a petrol station, shop and commercial
00:52garages near Chesterfield and build new homes on the site.
00:55The application for Ladywood Filling Station on Baslow Road in Holymoor Side does not state
01:00how many houses are proposed for the scheme.
01:03An officer's report to North East Derbyshire District Council states that a sensitively
01:07designed redevelopment of the site, currently occupied by a majority of single-storey buildings,
01:12would not impact adversely on the greenbelt.
01:15The officer says that the introduction of two-storey properties, however, may have the
01:18potential to result in the loss of openness in visual terms.
