00:00Hello there, welcome to your Tuesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It's hot and humid over the next few days across England and Wales, with a thundery
00:08breakdown coming in from the south. For Scotland and Northern Ireland, Wednesday's looking
00:12pleasantly warm with some sunshine. High pressure remains in charge, but the air becomes unstable
00:17across southern counters. And here, a yellow warning for thunderstorms kicks in from midday
00:23on Wednesday. More about that in a moment. For the time being, Tuesday evening, it's
00:27pleasant outside. A few fleeting showers across the far north of Scotland. The cloud
00:32drifts across the sky with a light breeze. There's a chance of one or two showers just
00:36moving in across the far south there. And it's going to be a humid night across England
00:42and Wales. Uncomfortable for many, as temperatures hold around 16 to 18 degrees Celsius. In contrast,
00:49temperatures dipping down to around 8 or 9 Celsius under clear skies across Scotland.
00:5312 or 13 for Northern Ireland, and a mix of clouds and sunshine to start the day on
00:57Wednesday here. Now for Scotland, it's a fine day with some sunny spells. Again, a few showers
01:03across the far north. England and Wales are some hot sunshine through the morning into
01:08the afternoon, and slowly there's a risk of some scattered thunderstorms through the afternoon.
01:14They could turn heavy as we head through the day, so one or two torrential downpours can't
01:19be ruled out, but they are fairly sporadic. A warning, though, does extend through into
01:24Wednesday evening and overnight. And here, temperatures reaching around 28 for mid-Wales.
01:31Down towards the south, we could see 32 Celsius. For Scotland and Northern Ireland, a pleasant
01:3620 or 21 Celsius. Now through Wednesday evening and overnight, a risk of some thundery activity
01:43with some heavy showers moving from Wales towards northern England, the Midlands. More
01:47thunderstorms and lightning likely across central and southern parts of England as well.
01:51So that warning extends through Thursday before things turn fresher from the west on Friday
01:55with some showery bursts. So let's pick up on some detail through Wednesday evening. Again,
02:00it's a pleasant evening, but there will be a few showers in the mix. A few running in across the
02:05far south of Scotland. This batch could turn heavy across northern parts of Wales, northern England,
02:10and another batch down towards more central and eastern areas, again with the risk of thunder and
02:15lightning. So your outlook through Thursday afternoon. A continued risk of thunderstorms
02:20across England and Wales. Some good sunny spells further north. Temperatures on the up as well,
02:2422, 23 Celsius. Still 30 possible in the far south and southeast. And this is how you see
02:30Friday. Showery bursts coming in from the west. More clouds as well. The winds will pick up
02:34eventually. Elsewhere, we hang on to that hot and humid air. See you later.
