00:00I want to start with Jacoby Brissette because he seems like Tommy, the nicest guy on the
00:07planet.
00:09He also though, has a chance to be a starter in the NFL and it sounds like he has already
00:15decided, well, whenever the change is going to happen, regardless of how I play, it's
00:22going to happen.
00:23It's as if he has accepted his fate.
00:25I don't need Jacoby Brissette to come in and rattle the trees necessarily, but at least
00:30sound like, hey, I'm the starter, I'm the quarterback, I want to lead this group, I'd
00:36like to be a part of setting the standard here.
00:38I'm curious for how you took what Jacoby Brissette said today because to me anyway, it sounded
00:45like somebody who's going in as a backup knowing he's just a backup.
00:52Well, I think he might be realistic and that's kind of the position that he's been in throughout
00:56his NFL career.
00:58So if they were looking for fire and brimstone, you know, they might have wanted to roll it
01:03back to Ryan Fitzpatrick.
01:04And as I heard you guys discussing that, that was who I thought of.
01:08You know, you think back to 2020 when Tua was drafted by the Miami Dolphins and Ryan
01:13Fitzpatrick was a starter and he actually played pretty well with a team that was disgusting
01:18the year before.
01:19So they then started shuttling in and out to Otunga-Vailoa with Ryan Fitzpatrick when
01:26the team was still mildly competent.
01:29And that led to a little bit of chaos on the team and with Ryan Fitzpatrick.
01:34I think in a way, for the development of the player, maybe you do want someone who's a
01:40little bit more realistic about what they're there for, because that is expressly what
01:44Jacoby Brissette is there for.
01:45If you wanted somebody to come and fight for their job, as propellant as the idea of
01:50Matt Jones is to the general populace in Massachusetts, he would have been the guy to keep around
01:55because he would have fought tooth and nail to keep the job and to keep Drake May on the
01:59bench.
02:00I just think that's who Jacoby Brissette is.
02:02I don't think you're going to necessarily have, we just punched him a clock tenor set
02:10by him as a result.
02:13Realistically, this is a developmental year for the entire team, a foundational season
02:19as Mayo termed it when he spoke today.
02:21So I heard Christian say, I need a little bit of delusion here.
02:28And I don't discount that notion either.
02:32But we're getting a dose of realism, I think, in 2024 that the Patriots are giving people
02:38to digest.
