00:00:33I'm Vince McMahon, and joining us this week, the Reverend Slick, along with Go Rillamonsoon,

00:00:43Yes, it all belongs to Bobby the Brain, Heenan, and Mr. Perfect.
00:00:47And no doubt, they have reason to celebrate.
00:00:50Ric Flair, just last night at the Royal Rumble, became the undisputed World Wrestling Federation champion.

00:01:07Well, I'll tell you what, I'll tell you what.
00:01:08In the name of good sportsmanship, let me be the first to offer my congratulations.

00:01:20As the celebration continues, yes, a big party last night for Ric Flair and you gentlemen as well, I'm sure.

00:02:12Let's take you now to a matchup involving the Texas Tornado.

00:02:19The following contest is scheduled for one fall.
00:02:22There are certainly some awesome physical specimens here in the World Wrestling Federation.
00:02:28I'm not referring to Barry Horowitz.
00:02:32Although he looks to be in pretty good shape.
00:02:34He's in very good shape.
00:02:36He's an excellent wrestler with great skills.
00:02:41But when you talk about physique, right up there at the top of the list
00:02:47is the Texas Tornado.
00:02:51And boy, is he a popular superstar here in the WWF.
00:02:57Some lucky young lady got a kiss on the cheek.
00:03:02There's another.
00:03:04She'll remember that kiss.
00:03:06She'll probably want to wash her face now.
00:03:07I think she'll have to.
00:03:10You know, we were talking about offsets a little while ago.
00:03:14Horowitz is one of our fans who can really pull off the offset of the day here.
00:03:19Well, I'll tell you what, Lord Alfred Hayes.
00:03:21On several occasions, he has come very close to beating the big names here in the WWF.
00:03:30For some reason, he has fallen short of reaching contender status.
00:03:36But he keeps after it.
00:03:38Now look at that physique, Lord Alfred Hayes.
00:03:41He's a big, powerful man.
00:03:43You've heard a lot as of late about the World Bodybuilding Federation.
00:03:47I think a little extra training, this man could be competing against some of the WBF superstars.
00:03:54I think you're absolutely right.
00:03:55Perhaps one day they'll do something like that, Lord Alfred Hayes.
00:03:57I hope they do. I really do.
00:03:59I'm most impressed with the WBF.
00:04:03Some really fantastic professional athletes there.
00:04:07I'd like to see something like that, definitely.
00:04:12You see some of the superstars involved, like British Bulldog, Davey Boy Smith, I think would be a new competitor.
00:04:19Yes, newcomer Chris Walker.
00:04:21Yes, he's very impressive, right?
00:04:24Very, very impressive indeed.
00:04:26He didn't match up against the champion of the WBF, though, Gary Strider.
00:04:31That's difficult to say.
00:04:33They have such separate training.
00:04:35But look at Hercules.
00:04:37Classically muscled, huh?
00:04:39Nice move there by Horowitz.
00:04:41Yes, quite impressed with himself with that arm drag.
00:04:45And Tornado's going to give him that point.
00:04:48Yes, he acknowledged that.
00:04:50He said, good move, good move.
00:04:52He's a very sporting fellow.
00:04:54Now he shows him how he pulls one off.
00:04:56And adds to it with a body slam.
00:05:00And it's Omar, another arm drag.
00:05:02And Barry Horowitz looks for some safe ground.
00:05:06And in this case, it is outside of the ring.
00:05:10Impressive.
00:05:11Yes, good move by Horowitz.
00:05:14He got blasted a bit there by the Tornado.
00:05:17And he sought a little refuge on the outside, a little haven, a little respite.
00:05:21He'll come back in fighting again.
00:05:23He's a good battler, Horowitz.
00:05:28He asked for time out.
00:05:30That's a waste of time.
00:05:33Locks up again with Von Erich.
00:05:36Stands him back against the ropes.
00:05:39He wants a break, but he has to continue.

00:05:43Down goes Horowitz, and again.
00:05:46He's really having a tough time now against the native of Denton, Texas.
00:05:55You know, I hope we get a chance to see the Texas Tornado wind up here
00:05:59for his now very, very famous way that he puts an end to his matches.
00:06:05Because it reflects how great a discus thrower this man is
00:06:10and has been all through his childhood.
00:06:13He established world marks that still stand at various ages.
00:06:17And he still holds many of those records.
00:06:19He certainly does.
00:06:21Also part of the legendary Von Erich family.
00:06:25I say the most successful, of course, of all the Von Erich family.
00:06:29I remember his father, Prince Von Erich,
00:06:31who was a salty old beast in the ring.
00:06:33And you don't understand.

00:06:37But not with the skills of his son here.
00:06:41Here Horowitz, technically could take the reins.

00:06:49Yes, if I were Horowitz, I'd try and work on that other arm of the Texas Tornado.

00:06:59And Horowitz was trying to weaken the left arm.

00:07:05Then gets drilled with a knee right between the eyes.
00:07:11And now, here comes the clash.
00:07:15That claw wrapped around the skull of Horowitz.
00:07:18Screaming in pain there.
00:07:22I can't even imagine what that must feel like.
00:07:24No, it slipped slightly there.
00:07:26I noticed.
00:07:27So Horowitz may have some grease or something on his hair.
00:07:32You don't often see that.
00:07:35There's the Tornado Punch.
00:07:38And Horowitz feels the full force.
00:07:42And it was enough to end it.
00:07:45And it was enough to end this encounter for the Texas Tornado.

00:15:58you can feel the excitement in the air
00:16:00even before the action starts here at the Garden.

00:16:24I wonder what possesses him.
00:16:26Either he has the beard, he doesn't have the beard.
00:16:29Well, I'll tell you what,
00:16:30that's not a question I would really care to ask the Mighty One.
00:16:33You never know when to set him off.
00:16:34You don't indeed.
00:16:36All you want to do is get backhanded by him.
00:16:38Yes, he's a very touchy person indeed.
00:16:41However, he's showing considerable caution here.

00:16:49Well, we aren't close enough to hear that conversation
00:16:52but I would say it's a stern warning from the Mighty One.

00:19:41but it looks as though Greg the Hammer Valentine is willing.
00:19:44This might turn into a boxing match.
00:19:46Sean, what we're seeing here,
00:19:48I really do believe is
00:19:50the Hammer, Greg Valentine,
00:19:52slowing the tempo of this match down
00:19:54to suit his own way of wrestling.
00:19:56And if he is able to achieve this,
00:19:58he will have an edge over Hercules.
00:20:02But I look for Hercules
00:20:05to try and get some action into this
00:20:07and upset this slow tempo
00:20:09that has been imposed upon the match by the Hammer.
00:20:12Neither man has worked up a sweat to this point.
00:20:16But the fuse has been lit.
00:20:17I think we can expect an explosion anytime.
00:20:22Now going here for a test of strength.
00:20:25Hercules comes in low
00:20:27and should be penalized for that move.
00:20:31I don't think that was too low, Sean.
00:20:33It was a nice shot, I think.
00:20:34Look, he got it to the inside of the thigh, he's saying.

00:20:53Just look at the massive upper body there of Hercules.
00:20:58You can see the power that that man possesses.

00:21:05And he really does possess incredible upper body strength.
00:21:11Do you have the feeling, though,
00:21:12that this belt is going just the way that Valentine wishes it to go?
00:21:16Well, I would say that the Mighty One
00:21:18has been a bit frustrated, Lord Alfred Hayes,
00:21:20because he is used to getting into an encounter
00:21:22and just beating his opponent senseless,
00:21:25wrapping it up in a couple of minutes
00:21:27and heading back to the locker room.
00:21:28Yes, he is.
00:21:29That has not been the case here,
00:21:30as now they erupt.
00:21:33Hercules starts with the boots,
00:21:34but the Hammer finishes it off.
00:21:37Forearm across the chest,
00:21:39drops Hercules.
00:21:41There's the elbow to the throat.
00:21:44And I think you were right, Lord Alfred Hayes.
00:21:46The Hammer lay in waiting,
00:21:48looking for that perfect opportunity.
00:21:53He pays back the Mighty One in full.
00:21:55Yes, that spurt of activity
00:21:57was just at the right time
00:21:59for Valentine.
00:22:00Now he's going into his favorite hole
00:22:02and can't let him stop there.
00:22:04He tries to step across with a figure-four leg lock.
00:22:08Instead,
00:22:09he's catapulted into the ring post.
00:22:12And I would imagine he has no feeling
00:22:16in that right arm.
00:22:19He certainly seems to have damaged his arm there.
00:22:21I think that's his left arm.
00:22:22Thank you very much.
00:22:28He has great, great powers of recovery.
00:22:32And his stamina has never, ever been in question.
00:22:34But he's now beginning to absorb
00:22:36some really heavy blows
00:22:39from the Mighty One.
00:22:40Slams hard into the corner of the apron there.
00:22:45And now just folds up
00:22:47to the hard arena floor.
00:22:50Mercury's quite pleased with himself at this point.
00:22:53He is. In fact, he was grinning just then.
00:22:55And looking in our direction, sure.
00:22:57Roy has a wild look in his eyes tonight.

00:23:24did not want to be counted out,
00:23:26so he crawled back into the ring
00:23:28and is now taking more punishment
00:23:31from Hercules.
00:23:34Well, the way Valentine figures that is,
00:23:36if he can stay in his belt long enough,
00:23:38he'll wear down the mighty one, Hercules,
00:23:41by just absorbing all the blows
00:23:44that he can administer.
00:23:46It's not a very good policy,
00:23:48in my estimation, though.
00:23:50Look at Valentine fight back.
00:23:52The ear clap breaks him free.
00:23:56Bones to the midsection,
00:23:57and another.
00:23:59Bones off the ropes.
00:24:00Hammer right to the top of the head.

00:24:48We have to totally depend on the referee
00:24:50to catch that boot up on the rope.
00:24:53If he doesn't see it, it's all over.
00:24:57And once he makes that decision,

00:25:04And it has done that on many an occasion.

00:25:39not going to either of them raising their hand.
00:25:41So Hercules escaped that by the skin of his teeth.
