00:00It was winter on the island of Sodor.
00:04Peter Sam puffed nervously along the line.
00:12His funnel had never been the same since his accident with some trucks.
00:16Now the biting wind was trying to blow it away.
00:31My funnel feels wobbly, he complained.
00:35I wish manager would hurry up with my new one.
00:38He says it will be something special.
00:40You and your special funnel, laughed the other engines.
00:44They were fond of Peter Sam but his special funnel had become quite a joke.
00:50The winter winds grew worse.
00:53The rain came too, turning hillside streams into torrents,
00:56which threatened to wash the line away.
01:00Music
01:11Rusty, the little diesel, worked hard carrying workmen up and down the line.
01:23They were removing branches and leaves so water could flow away.
01:28But one morning, Rusty's driver brought bad news.
01:33There's been a washout near the tunnel.
01:35The track bed has been swept away.
01:37We must repair the damage immediately.
01:49The important work took longer than expected.
01:54As days went by, the weather changed.
01:58It became frosty and much colder.
02:05The workmen finished at last.
02:08Peter Sam was most careful as he took the morning train over the mended piece of track.
02:14Soon, he approached the tunnel.
02:17It was short and curved, so his driver could not see right through it.
02:21Peter Sam was heading for trouble.
02:27There's something hanging from the roof, shouted his driver.
02:31Peter Sam came out of the tunnel a different looking engine.
02:35He no longer had his funnel.
02:39Here's what hits you, Peter Sam, called the guard,
02:42and he produced a thick, cold icicle.
02:46They set off again, but without his funnel, the journey was very difficult.
03:00Then his fireman saw an old drainpipe lying beside the track.
03:06We'll use that instead of your funnel.
03:08At least it'll help control the smoke.
03:15Peter Sam finished his journey with the drainpipe wired to his boiler.
03:22The other engines laughed, and Sir Handel sang a song about it.
03:27Peter Sam said again and again, his new funnel will put us to shame.
03:31Went into the tunnel, lost his old funnel, now his famous new funnel to drain.
03:38The teasing continued, until at last the day came when his new funnel arrived.
03:44The Fat Controller proudly presented it.
03:47Oh dear, exclaimed Peter Sam, someone squashed it.
03:51The Fat Controller laughed.
03:52Don't worry, Peter Sam, this funnel is something special indeed.
03:56You'll soon see.
04:01Peter Sam's new funnel had special pipes which made puffing much easier.
04:07I feel stronger than ever before, he hummed.
04:10Even Sir Handel was impressed.
04:12I can't understand it.
04:14Peter Sam seems to just stroll along the line.
04:17He makes work look so easy.
04:22The engines don't laugh at Peter Sam's funnel now.
04:27They wish they had one like it.
