00:00Hello there, welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office. Now, tomorrow
00:06is a summer solstice and with that I can promise you some warm sunshine. However, this weak
00:11weather front will introduce more cloud through the day before it improves later across Scotland
00:16as well as Northern Ireland, some brighter skies coming through. And then come Friday,
00:20this weather front introduces more cloud towards the west, outbreaks of rain and it will turn
00:24more showery into Saturday, particularly across England and Wales. But notice this, from Sunday
00:30a ridge of high pressure extends right across the country. It turns drier, brighter and
00:34warmer and much warmer next week. Now, let's backtrack to Wednesday evening. Here's that
00:40weak weather front, some outbreaks of rain, a stronger wind here across the northwest
00:44of Scotland up towards the Northern Isles. Elsewhere, it's a clear night, a bit chilly
00:49in the countryside across England and Wales and even with some shallow mist and fog patches
00:53as we start the day on Thursday morning. Now, temperatures holding up where you see that
00:58cloud and certainly a bit of a cloudier start to the day across central parts of Scotland,
01:03down towards Northern Ireland with the odd spot or two of rain. Brighter skies emerge
01:07across the far north of Scotland and it's a fine day across England and Wales, southern
01:12parts of Northern Ireland, central and eastern areas of Scotland. And even improvement coming
01:16through where we see that stubborn cloud through the morning, so a better afternoon across
01:20these parts. Now, through the day there's a small chance we could catch a shower across
01:24the mountains of Wales and also notice some thundery activity across the low countries.
01:30There's a very small chance we could see a thunderstorm just clipping the far southeast,
01:34mostly dry though. Strong sunshine, temperatures 19 to 23 degrees Celsius. So that's Thursday
01:40afternoon, a lovely evening to come, that sunshine extending well into the evening and
01:45then through Thursday evening and overnight, yet again, more cloud arrives across western
01:51Scotland, eventually Northern Ireland. With that, some outbreaks of rain, which could
01:54turn a bit moderate from time to time into Friday morning, particularly across the far
01:59north. At the same time, we'll see brighter skies further south and east, eastern parts
02:04of Scotland as well. Whereas for Northern Ireland through the afternoon, expect a little
02:08bit of rain. Temperatures here, 18 degrees Celsius. That weather front marches its way
02:12eastwards through Saturday. So the chance of some showers, particularly across England
02:16and Wales, the clouds across Scotland will break through the afternoon and a brighter
02:20day all round for Northern Ireland. Come Sunday though, it's a different story. As
02:25you saw on that synoptic chart, a ridge of high pressure bringing fine conditions, very
02:30warm sunshine, high UV levels, yet again, some high pollen and temperatures coming in
02:34around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. Now, for more details of the 10 day trend this week,
02:41it's with Annie Shutterworth. Check that out and I'll see you later.
