00:00And the first one I want to talk about is David Njoku, who was tight in five last year.
00:07And again, nothing against David Njoku, the player, he is a terrific talent.
00:12But the problem is I have legitimate concerns about whether or not he can come anything
00:17close to what you saw last year.
00:18He's been in the league now for quite some time, seven years.
00:23And I think we kind of forget that.
00:25And I think whenever, you know, you have a guy who breaks out in the second, third, even
00:29fourth years, okay.
00:30But year seven typically is not the breakout, right?
00:33What was different last year?
00:35Joe Flacco.
00:36So you gave him an old timey pocket passer and Joe Flacco rolls into town off of his
00:42couch and all of a sudden makes David Njoku a thing.
00:44Why?
00:45Because he's Joe Flacco.
00:46He wants to sit back and sling the football all over the place and he still could do it.
00:50And they had a lot of pass attempts every game.
00:52Deshaun Watson has not shown any acumen for wanting to throw the football for any reason
00:58David Njoku.
01:00So when you bring in Jerry Judy this off season, you still have Amari Cooper around, you know,
01:03you have Jerome Ford catching balls too.
01:05I just have a hard time believing that David Njoku isn't going to revert back potentially
01:09to that guy who was more like, I don't know, tight end 20 or at worst, maybe, you know,
01:15two years ago, tight end 13.
01:17That's not a tight end one.
01:18It's right on the fringe and you're drafting him as the ninth tight end overall.
01:21That just doesn't compute to me.
01:23I think there's far too many questions.
01:24Now, look, if Winston ends up playing more than Watson, maybe that changes the dynamic,
01:29but who's to say it changes it better for David Njoku.
01:31We just don't know.
01:32And after seven years of waiting for David Njoku to become a thing, again, great talent.
01:37He's got all the makeup to be a top kind of tight end.
01:40And you saw that last year, finally, somebody was utilizing him.
01:43Did that wake up the offensive coordinators there a little bit more?
01:46Just a fancy look at him and say, yeah, why aren't we using this guy more?
01:49Let's build in place for him.
01:50Let's, let's make him the go-to on more plays.
01:53I'll believe it when I see it with Deshaun Watson or whoever is under center this year
01:56for them.
01:57Again, Winston or Watson is going to be one of those two guys for most of the time.
02:00It's just a hard sell to invest in David Njoku and look and say, oh yeah, he can just repeat
02:04what he did last year or even build on it.
02:06Sure it's possible, but what have you seen to that effect outside of the couple of games
02:12he had with Joe Flacco at the second half of last year that leads you to believe that
02:15that's true?
02:16I haven't seen enough of it and therefore I'm passing hard on him.
02:20It's a great point.
02:21It's a great way to get to the tango, especially in the national football league.
02:24So I like that you bring it out and bring it forward as to who's throwing the ball matters
02:29almost as much as who's catching it.
