00:00 We're with Jessie Jo Dillon who is holding the award for songwriter of the year.
00:05 So crazy.
00:06 So what does that even, how do you even get your head around taking home that award, especially
00:12 with the competition?
00:13 I know, stiff.
00:14 Stiff competition and all my friends in it so I don't know if I've ever had my head around
00:20 it yet.
00:21 I mean it feels, the realest it's felt is right now, holding it.
00:25 So I mean I hope it just feels more real as the days go on.
00:30 Talk about writing Halfway to Hell with Jelly Roll which was one of the songs that you were
00:34 up for.
00:35 So that's crazy, it was the first day Jelly and I ever met and we ended up, like he was
00:40 one of those people for me we just clicked.
00:42 I mean and we talked a lot about his life and my own life and our co-writers lives and
00:48 the song kind of just fell out pretty fast and we've written a lot together since and
00:56 it was kind of like one of those, it's one of those songs that's cool to see go number
00:59 one soon because it's the beginning of like someone I know I'll work with for my whole
01:04 life.
01:05 Well you're a legacy songwriter.
01:07 Have you gotten a chance to tell your dad yet that you won?
01:10 I FaceTimed him, he had no idea.
01:13 Shocking.
01:14 He's elusive.
01:15 He started crying pretty hard and I mean he's so proud, it's making me cry right now, he's
01:21 so proud which is so great and I know I cried to him, I was like I wouldn't be here if it
01:28 wasn't for you because you taught me what a great song is, you know.
