00:00 Hello, my name is Sharon Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across
00:05 the North West. A 43-year-old Preston man caught in a sting by paedophile hunters has
00:11 escaped a prison sentence. Anthony Stewart from Deepdale, who was snared for sending
00:15 perverted messages to decoys he thought were 14-year-old girls, was given a suspended sentence
00:21 when he appeared at the city's Crown Court. Judge Heather Loy told him he would have gone
00:26 straight to jail had his targets been real children and not website warriors posing as
00:32 underage girls. A grieving Wigan 26-year-old who has lost
00:37 two siblings to suspected suicide in the last seven months is organising a major fundraiser
00:42 in aid of charities which help people with mental health issues. Jordan Swain, who admits
00:49 that he has had his own mental health battles while serving in the army, wants to raise
00:53 a profile of organisations that can support people harbouring suicidal thoughts and also
00:58 raise money for them. It comes after the death of his 25-year-old foster brother, David Ball,
01:04 in October and then his foster sister Zoe Winstanley last month, a week before her 22nd
01:10 birthday. Both tragically were found hanged and left young children behind.
01:17 In other news, a 13-year-old girl was taken to hospital by ambulance after she was attacked
01:21 by another pupil at school. Police were called to St Mary's Catholic Academy in Leighton
01:27 after a fight broke out shortly before 2pm on Tuesday 23rd April. The schoolgirl's injuries
01:34 were not as serious as initially feared and she has since returned to school.
01:39 An artisan bakery in Lancaster has closed due to rising costs and dropping sales. Philbert's
01:45 Bakery on King Street in Lancaster announced their closure on Facebook on Wednesday, much
01:52 to the shock of everyone who buys their products. A spokesman for Philbert's Bakery said "It's
01:57 with a heavy heart that we have to tell you that we are closing the bakery effective immediately."
02:02 And finally, walkers in a Burley Beauty spot were horrified to see a brook filled with
02:07 white foam-like substance yesterday. The foam appeared in the stream at Sweet Cloth in the
02:12 lower house area. Walkers reported a perfume-like odour from the foam and several people contacted
02:19 the Environment Agency to report it. The weather now, a dry day with plenty of sunny
02:26 speckles although perhaps the odd shower throughout the afternoon with highs of 21 degrees.
