Transcript
00:00Hello, my name is Sian Jones and these are the latest headlines from our newsrooms across the North West.
00:06Fast Food Giant McDonald's is planning to open a new branch in Lancashire.
00:10The Golden Arches could soon appear at the former Pizza Hut site in Peel Retail and Leisure Park Block which closed suddenly in July.
00:17A notice was found taped to the windows confirming the closure and directing customers to its nearest restaurants in Preston and Bolton.
00:24All signs were taken down and the building appears empty with more than a dozen staff understood to have lost their jobs.
00:30An Old Wigan pub has been giving up long buried secrets as a family bring it back to life.
00:36The Bellevue on Woodhouse Lane Springfield looked doomed until recently.
00:40Closed since the start of the pandemic in 2020, the hostelry has been badly vandalised since and with two other pubs as neighbours many thought its hospitality days were over.
00:50But that was without reckoning on Debbie Cairns and her family who have transformed the place over recent weeks and are reopening it this Friday with the new name, The Barkley Tavern.
00:59In other news, Blackpool's oldest chippy has gone on the market but the owners have a clear message about its future.
01:06Yorkshire Fisheries in Topping Street, a stone's throw away from Blackpool Tower, is being offered for sale for £924,950 which includes the property and the business.
01:18The sale, which only went public on Tuesday, comes because owners Pavlos and Maria Menolau have changing family circumstances including a new grandchild due next week.
01:28Morecambe's The Midland Hotel has hit back at comments on Facebook that it needed a lick of paint and also comments criticising the brand new beer garden on the lawn.
01:37The Midland Hotel had put a post on Facebook before vintage by the sea about them having a brand new beer garden and also opening the promenade doors so people could come in and out easily to get drinks.
01:49Hundreds of people commented on the post with their thoughts about the new beer garden and some said the building needed a lick of paint.
01:57And finally, a well-known Burnley estate agent is pulling out all the stops to raise as much money as possible in the Pendleside Hospice Corporate Challenge with little help from Robbie Williams.
02:07Petty Estate Agents has supported the hospice for many years and this year the team are backing the challenge once again with director Ian Byfill leading the way by taking part in a summer triathlon with a twist.
02:21Ian has already conquered the Yorkshire Three Peaks and cycled the entire 127 mile length of the Fleaslove Pill Canal.
02:29Despite a few setbacks including two punches and navigating 226 bridges and 91 locks he managed to get to the finish line.
02:37And finally, the weather now. Early low cloud and any mist or fog will lift in most areas to leave a dry day with plenty of warm sunshine and highs of 25 degrees.
