00:00 Good morning, welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So it's a bit
00:05 of a chillier start this morning but quite a blustery start with plenty of showers around.
00:09 All thanks to this area of low pressure out towards the east of the UK, bringing with
00:13 it some northwesterly winds and some colder conditions compared to what we've seen over
00:17 the weekend. Higher pressure does remain close by out towards the west of the UK and there
00:21 are some hints that we'll see this moving closer towards us as we head through the end
00:25 of the week.
00:26 Back to what we've got out there at the moment though and plenty of showers around this morning.
00:30 Those heaviest bands of showers slowly pushing their way south and eastwards through the
00:34 rest of this morning and then we will start to see some sunshine developing behind. There
00:38 will still be plenty of showers around though, these particularly heavy across northern parts
00:42 of England, Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland too where we could see some sleet
00:46 and snow over the hills.
00:49 With that brisk northwesterly breeze, temperatures will be down compared to what we saw over
00:52 the weekend, only around 12 or 13 degrees in the south and struggling to reach double
00:57 figures further north. But if we factor in that brisk northwesterly breeze, it really
01:01 will be feeling quite chilly, struggling to feel much above 3 or 4 degrees in the north
01:05 and only feeling around 6 or 7 degrees in the south.
01:10 Through the rest of Monday evening there will still be plenty of showers around and they'll
01:13 continue to push their way southwards across the UK, overnight Monday and into the start
01:18 of Tuesday, again turning particularly heavy across northern parts of England and parts
01:22 of Scotland too.
01:24 The showers will gradually start to ease through the early hours of Tuesday morning though
01:27 and there will be plenty of clear skies around. And with those winds turning a little bit
01:31 lighter it will be another chilly night to come and a chilly start to the day on Tuesday.
01:36 Temperatures widely in the single figures, perhaps as low as 2 or 3, maybe even lower
01:40 in some rural spots across parts of Scotland and only around 5 or 6 degrees in the south.
01:46 That does mean that Tuesday will be a chilly start but it will be a dry start for most
01:51 of us. There will be plenty of sunshine around through the morning, maybe a few showers across
01:55 some coastal areas and maybe the odd one or two bubbling up across parts of England through
01:59 Tuesday afternoon. But there will be plenty more sunshine around, particularly across
02:02 parts of Wales and northern parts of England.
02:05 The winds will be a little bit lighter on Tuesday as well and temperatures round about
02:08 average, maybe 13 or 14 degrees in the south and 10 or 11 degrees in the north. But with
02:13 those lighter winds and a bit more sunshine, perhaps not feeling quite as cold as Monday.
02:18 Plenty of showers still around as we go into the start of Wednesday though, but the hints
02:22 of higher pressure returning are strong as we go through the end of the week. So keep
02:26 up to date via our YouTube channel to find out more details about that later in the week.
02:30 Bye bye.
