00:00 I'm not averse to eating well,
00:02 as in even having pasta in the evenings,
00:05 taking advantage of good cuisine.
00:07 The key to that, of course, I work out quite a bit.
00:10 You can eat like a pig, but you gotta train like a beast.
00:13 [upbeat music]
00:16 Hi, I'm Babs Alusimokal.
00:20 Today, I am gonna show you what my diet looks like.
00:23 Most definitely, I don't have a calorie counting kind of thing.
00:27 I try to be functional with the things I eat.
00:31 If I could get away without eating,
00:33 I would, but I cannot.
00:34 I love to be active,
00:36 so I have to make sure that I fuel my body properly.
00:40 I try and eat good things that are good for me,
00:43 and I tend to like things that are good for me
00:45 because I know how important the proper fuel is for my body.
00:50 I love a big, nice breakfast.
00:54 I love my eggs.
00:55 I love my yogurt.
00:56 Blueberries, banana, and some granola.
00:59 If I'm in London, I do lots of oatmeal.
01:02 I do orange juice.
01:04 I've been eating a lot of apples lately.
01:05 That's a new thing that I make sure I do for a breakfast.
01:09 For lunch, I tend to have protein.
01:11 That could be in the form of chicken.
01:13 That could be in the form of fish.
01:14 There's been times where I don't really eat meat.
01:17 Lately, maybe in the last year or so,
01:19 I've been doing a bit more steak.
01:21 Have that with grains, some salad,
01:25 sometimes a bit of dessert, you know?
01:28 I tend to have a big lunch.
01:29 If I'm working and I have a free day,
01:31 then dinner could be a bit bigger,
01:33 but usually dinner is lighter
01:35 and it's earlier in the evening.
01:37 So let's say six, 'cause if you eat a little too late,
01:40 it's not the best for you.
01:42 Very simple.
01:43 It's very boring.
01:46 When I'm working, it could really be just boiled eggs.
01:49 Monk-like, you know?
01:51 Eggs, no salt, lots of fruits.
01:53 I'm a big believer in fruits.
01:55 I've been lucky, as in I can decide, you know,
01:59 this guy is fit and therefore he's gotta look fit, you know?
02:04 But my idea of fit is not muscular and looking jacked.
02:10 The reality is functional strength
02:12 is not always super cut looking.
02:16 Functional strength is, it can be that,
02:18 but only few people that actually look like that
02:21 are actually truly fit, so to speak.
02:26 I do this thing called jujitsu.
02:27 So that's really my cardio-wise,
02:30 because if I'm doing that,
02:32 I don't really have to go off and do cardio, so to speak,
02:36 because jujitsu takes a lot out of you.
02:38 You're throwing people around or they're throwing you around
02:41 and it's just a lot of sweating.
02:43 If I find myself in a place where I can't do that,
02:46 or as in I'm working a lot,
02:48 then I make sure I get to dumbbells, you know,
02:50 and I'm doing lots of body weight exercises
02:53 and I am very much functional.
02:55 So I can use a dumbbell for one minute straight
02:59 doing a certain exercise, sometimes two minutes straight.
03:02 So always about pushing, you know, the gas.
03:05 For "Dune," I had a big fight scene,
03:08 so therefore it was a lot of fight training
03:10 and knife training, really,
03:12 working with a fight choreographer.
03:14 Six hours of working out with a knife,
03:17 and that was really fun to be in that world and playing,
03:21 you know, in that way, learning knife fighting
03:23 and that choreography, and yeah,
03:26 it was like hours on hours to arrive at this specific time
03:31 when you're in front of the camera.
03:33 So that was really fun.
03:34 For "Ministry," the boys are on the other side
03:36 of the action like that.
03:38 My guy is more of a, you know, smooth undercover dude,
03:42 you know, so when he does the action,
03:44 it's very hidden and very quick
03:47 'cause he's gotta be in and out, different scenarios.
03:51 Training, training is important to find something
03:53 that you love to do or just really like,
03:56 because if you do that, if you have that,
03:58 then you're gonna keep training
03:59 for a much longer period of time.
04:02 It's not gonna be a chore, you know?
04:04 So if you're feeling like training is a chore,
04:07 you gotta find something that really gets you up
04:10 and you're like, maybe for one day you're like,
04:12 "Oh my God, I gotta get up and train," you know?
04:15 But then you're like, "How will I feel if I don't train?"
04:17 Oh, hell yeah, I'm gonna get up and go train,
04:20 and that's it, you know?
04:21 Like, so for me, it's important
04:24 to just find that thing you connect with.
04:26 If the diet is hard or too hard,
04:28 it means you're going past the threshold
04:31 that you should be at.
04:32 It's not usually the wisest thing.
04:36 And I personally, I tend to want to eat well,
04:38 and I tend to like, there was a time I ate nothing
04:41 but Mexican, but in the cleanest way possible.
04:46 And, you know, and I can stay eating Mexican
04:49 three, four times a week, and then I'll switch it up,
04:51 and now I only go to this Italian restaurant,
04:54 and then the things I eat there.
04:55 So I can mold myself in certain ways,
04:59 but again, because on the flip side,
05:02 I'm doing a lot of high-intensity work.
05:05 If you're doing nothing but Italian,
05:08 and you're just sitting in front of the television,
05:11 no good, so that's the balance.
05:16 Carb, oh, my favorite carb is probably bread.
05:19 Yeah, like really good bread.
05:21 It's just amazing.
05:22 Like really, if you can make a good croissant
05:25 or a great croissant, it's very dear to my heart
05:28 when I see and get good bread.
05:31 I'd say probably my dessert is my cheat meal,
05:33 and if I'm not careful, that could be three days a week.
05:37 I love different kinds of dessert,
05:38 apple pie and vanilla ice cream.
05:41 Not one scoop, but two scoops, sometimes three scoops.
05:45 You, that is my thin.
05:47 That's my cheat thin,
05:49 which I do more than once a week, probably.
05:52 That's very interesting.
05:56 Oh, my God, probably Jameis, maybe.
05:58 Jameis, Jameis from "Dune," I think.
06:01 He's got some stuff to say.
06:02 I'd probably slap you on the head
06:05 if you use your silverware improperly.
06:08 No, I'm not a burger kind of guy.
06:12 I'm not a burger kind of guy.
06:13 I'm sorry, guys.
06:14 Yeah, I love taco, more of a burrito guy, actually,
06:18 I must say.
06:19 Tacos are actually a bit too small for me.
06:21 I'm a more burrito guy,
06:23 and if I get like rice and beans in there,
06:25 I got some chicken, forget the salad.
06:28 We don't need salad with our burrito, and yeah.
06:34 Ooh, walk around in Paris,
06:37 and I smell the smell of the boulangeries,
06:42 which are like the bakeries,
06:44 and it's sort of something I grew up with also.
06:46 It really gets me.
06:48 That's the smell that stays with me
06:49 more than anything else in terms of food.
06:52 I'm Babs Aloussa Mokoum,
06:54 and that's what my diet looks like.
