00:00 When it comes to taking risks, this guy's willing to stick his neck out for his friends.
00:04 Here's your look at the brand new Mattel Master Universe Masterverse.
00:07 Master Universe New Eternia Mechanek.
00:10 (roaring)
00:13 Captain of King Randor's submarine squadron,
00:28 Mechanek searches for the broken pieces of Greyskull in the darkest depths of the ocean,
00:32 hoping to restore New Eternia to its former glory.
00:35 Everybody on New Eternia knows that if you get Mechanek for Secret Santa,
00:39 don't get him a turtleneck.
00:41 Just before, of course, we get a closer look at the brand new New Eternia Mechanek,
00:44 the tape measure is going to tell us that the figure stands at about 7 1/4 inches in height,
00:48 because you've got to factor in, of course, the point on top of his head.
00:51 And that makes a figure that's about 18 1/2 centimeters tall.
00:54 I brought in a couple of these figures before when we looked at Man at Arms,
00:58 so I'll bring in a couple now for comparisons.
01:00 Mechanek, if you were to say put him next to New Eternia Ram Man,
01:03 is going to be just a tad bit taller.
01:05 He is also about the same size as many faces.
01:08 A figure that we didn't bring in when we looked at Man at Arms,
01:11 here's what he looks like with Zodak.
01:12 Here's as well what he looks like, speaking of Man at Arms,
01:14 the recently looked at Man at Arms.
01:16 And like we did with that review, here's what also he looks like with the Origins version,
01:19 if I can actually get him to stand.
01:21 Like with Duncan before, Mechanek does come in clear with a little white bag of mystery.
01:25 Although it's not really much of a mystery anymore,
01:27 we can already see the contents off to the far right.
01:30 Though to the far left, the figure comes in clear with a telescoping weapon.
01:34 Very similar in fact actually to the one that we got here from the Origins,
01:37 other than instead of actually molding it all in yellow plastic,
01:40 they molded it very nicely in gold instead.
01:42 Now he can look out of this like a telescope,
01:45 or you can also as well use it more as a clubbing bat.
01:48 What's rather interesting though about the actual telescoping bat,
01:52 is that he also comes with extension pieces that work not only for the weapon,
01:56 but also works as well for his neck.
01:57 They're universal. I think that's pretty cool.
01:59 You can take by the way the weapon,
02:01 and because he already has gripping hands, he can wield the weapon in either one of them.
02:04 Just clip it inside of his hand and he holds it perfectly fine.
02:07 Another weapon he also comes in clear with, more defensive than offensive.
02:11 The figure comes with a shield.
02:13 The shield has a printing on the front of an eagle, really nicely done.
02:16 And on the back though, while normally you'd expect this to slide up his form,
02:20 there's a peg on the side here that actually clips right onto the side of his gauntlet.
02:24 And you just clip it in place like that.
02:26 Granted, it's not a very large shield,
02:28 so what little defense he's actually going to be able to get from it.
02:31 But like I said, it just fits into his...
02:33 If you look at the hole by the way, the hole is sort of more hexagonal.
02:37 So it does require a little bit of pressure on your part to get the shield actually in his arm.
02:42 But he holds it fine. I mean, you can also store it also on the back of his outfit as well.
02:46 On the back of his armor, he does have a similar hole.
02:49 You can take the shield and plug it just in place there.
02:51 So if you don't have a plan to store the shield on his arm,
02:54 there's at least a storage place to store it on the armor as well.
02:57 He does also come included with a couple of swappable hands.
03:00 I don't think they're any bit different from the hands we did get from...
03:03 Actually, you know what? I just happen to have one of his hands still nearby.
03:05 Yeah, it looks to be the same hand that we got included with Man at Arms,
03:08 just of course colored more in a flesh tone than the green that came included with Duncan.
03:12 And by the way, again, these can be swapped out.
03:14 For me, I always just tend to put the closed fist hands into a bag.
03:17 I always like to display the figure mostly more with the gripping hands instead.
03:21 I did already say that the figure does also have these extension pieces.
03:24 These were also something that were inside the bag.
03:26 Each one of these, by the way, attach the same way,
03:29 so you can't attach any one of these.
03:31 There we go. And they're all by Balljoints.
03:33 So if you want to have three of these, you can have one of these.
03:36 Hey, why not? You can also as well take the two,
03:39 because you get three on one, three interlocking ones on one,
03:42 and you get two on the other.
03:43 You can lock them, in fact, together,
03:45 and you can have one long extension piece.
03:47 If I can actually get it all the way in there.
03:49 You have one long extension piece that now has five interlocking pieces,
03:53 and again, all of these can actually move.
03:55 They look to be very similar to all one another.
03:57 I don't think they've done anything.
03:58 Maybe they're a little bit different.
04:00 They all look to be the same, though.
04:01 This kind of reminds me of Stiltman.
04:03 Not that we're...
04:04 Stiltman's obviously part of the Marvel Legends.
04:06 He's not part of the Master Universe.
04:08 But Stiltman had a very similar idea,
04:10 that if you got the Red Ninja, you could just get extension pieces.
04:13 And people went really stupid crazy when it came to displaying this guy.
04:16 I saw some pictures of Stiltman going all the way to the ceiling.
04:19 But luckily, you can stop at least at five.
04:21 I suppose if you did buy yourself more Mechanik,
04:23 I don't know why you really would want to,
04:25 you could just continue the trend of having a much longer piece.
04:28 Now, with these pieces,
04:29 I'm going to attach just the two of them right now.
04:32 If you take yourself the telescoping bat,
04:34 you take the end of it off,
04:36 and you can see, like, the one end is on a bulge,
04:38 where it fits then into the hole here.
04:40 You take... Let's just take two for right now.
04:42 Just plug it in place like that.
04:44 And then you take the other end and plug it in like that.
04:47 So he now has, like, an extension piece
04:49 that can kind of, I suppose, wrap around walls.
04:51 Again, if he had long of these enough,
04:53 I'm sure he probably could look inside of a window
04:55 or kind of just over top of a wall.
04:57 He'd be the peeping Tom of the Eternia.
04:59 Maybe that's not a good idea.
05:01 But again, like, you could take these
05:02 if you wanted to have more than one.
05:04 Just attach, like, all the five together.
05:06 And just plug it in place.
05:07 And like I said, now he has this really weird-looking...
05:09 I mean, nobody's probably in their right mind
05:11 going to be displaying the figure with a telescoping bat like this.
05:14 But still, it's kind of a neat idea.
05:16 And also, because it also uses the exact same universal peg,
05:19 you probably can already see where this is going.
05:21 I'm just going to put this back first so I don't lose this.
05:24 You can also, as well, take Mechaneck
05:26 and just attach his head from the provided ball joint.
05:28 Let's take his shield off, too. I just don't want to get that in the way.
05:31 And then you can take this piece and just plug it onto the end
05:33 where the ball joint is still there.
05:35 And then you just take his head
05:37 and attach this onto the end of the ball joint.
05:39 And now you can have Mechaneck now with five pieces.
05:42 And again, like, if you want to reduce this,
05:43 you don't have to go to the crazy number of having five of these.
05:45 You could just take off one link.
05:47 You could take it all the way down to one if you really want to.
05:49 But you can have Mechaneck with various different links for his neck.
05:52 And again, because he does have the posability,
05:54 any one of these can move independently from themselves.
05:57 So again, you've got some nice additional posability there, as well.
06:00 If you want to see what just one looks like, because maybe five is too much,
06:03 just attach all the other ones.
06:05 We'll just attach the only single one.
06:07 Maybe, if anything, I might just display Mechaneck with one.
06:10 Because I don't want it too crazy.
06:12 I think that's kind of more the...
06:14 We're kind of getting into the field of Stiltman,
06:16 I think, with the craziness of having more than one of these.
06:18 But again, I kind of like the idea that they actually gave us as many as they did.
06:22 And again, you can detach any one of these if you want.
06:25 Mechaneck does look good with the extension here.
06:27 I mean, again, you can have it displayed with it or without it.
06:29 But again, I think it brings just a little bit more to the idea
06:32 that the character does have a gimmick.
06:33 The gimmick was in the original toy where you'd rotate the waist
06:37 and the neck would extend.
06:39 Sadly, it was the case, though, that when we did get ourselves
06:41 the Origins version of Mechaneck,
06:43 that unfortunately that figure, I think, came in clear with the Drag Racer,
06:46 didn't actually have, again, that working feature.
06:48 So you could rotate his waist, his head wasn't going to extend up and down.
06:51 You had to do something very similar, and you could just detach this.
06:55 And by the way, also, in case you were worried, wondering,
06:57 yeah, you can take also these pieces that came in clear with the new Eternia version of Mechaneck
07:02 and do, in fact, the exact same thing with the Origins.
07:05 So you can kind of use...
07:07 At least they have smartly decided to use the same ball joints.
07:10 So if you want to have Mechaneck displayed,
07:12 sharing, again, the wealth of all the things he comes in clear with,
07:14 you can also display it as well with the Origins version of Mechaneck.
07:17 I'll just go ahead and detach that all right now.
07:20 As for the rest of the figure's body,
07:22 while we kind of already have Origins Mechaneck in our hand here,
07:24 you can see that they are pretty much exactly the same.
07:27 Mechaneck's front torso also is one that got shared in the original line with Stinkor.
07:32 So again, like, you probably...
07:33 Now, we did get ourselves a Revelation version of Stinkor.
07:36 I'm sure we probably are going to be getting ourselves a new Eternia version of Stinkor.
07:39 And I'm sure, yes, that armor piece will be coming back in play for that.
07:43 The rest of the figure's body,
07:44 while the original one would have had more of the lighter blue,
07:46 definitely get a nice, very nice metallic blue that they've used here
07:49 for basically all the armor, all the body that's underneath his front armor piece.
07:53 He has these gauntlets that are a little bit of a different blue than the rest of the blue above it.
07:57 But again, I really like the use of the metallics.
08:00 He also has a bit of a metallic silver striping here in his boots as well.
08:03 The fur, I would imagine, at least the boots,
08:05 would be the exact same as the ones we got from He-Man.
08:08 But the body, I'm sure, is probably being used as well.
08:11 I mean, obviously, it does come across a little bit more robotic,
08:14 but I think it's just the way that they've used this type of plastic.
08:18 I'm sure it's pretty much the exact same body as He-Man.
08:20 Or, let's just grab He-Man off to the side here.
08:22 Looking at the armor, yeah, it looks to be exactly the same, other than just...
08:26 It kind of fools you to look at it.
08:28 When you're looking at the blue, you think it's actually a different molding cast,
08:31 but it looks to be the exact same.
08:32 Even, like, the gauntlets down below are the same as He-Man.
08:35 "Sames as He-Man?"
08:36 The armor piece can be removable if you wanted to.
08:38 These are just in case you detach the sides here.
08:41 I'm glad that they're actually using these as pegs rather than actual straps.
08:44 Straps always get really loose.
08:46 I find these actually attach a lot easier also as well.
08:49 And being that they also use larger pegs,
08:51 it just makes attaching them home a whole lot more simpler.
08:54 But again, like, the rest of the body is pretty much going to be all He-Man's body
08:57 or other Eternian figures.
08:59 It's just a case, like, they've cast it differently in a very nice shiny plastic,
09:02 and boy, does it look really nice here.
09:04 So the figure's articulation.
09:05 Do we want to--
09:06 Well, I mean, starting with where we left off here,
09:08 the figure does have a ball joint.
09:10 I mean, any one, again, those individual links would be on ball joints,
09:12 so those also freely move as well.
09:15 The upper torso, although it's a little harder to get to
09:17 because he's got the armor over top of it, would also be on a ball joint.
09:20 There's a swivel here on the waist.
09:21 The legs do-- or the-- those aren't legs.
09:23 Those arms also hinge out, and they can also rotate all the way around.
09:28 There's a swivel at the bicep.
09:29 The figure also, once again, does possess double hinge on the elbows,
09:32 and the hands do rotate all the way around.
09:34 Legs do split out.
09:35 They're on ball joints.
09:36 You can take the legs and move them forward, move them back.
09:38 Yes, yes.
09:39 Swivel three-quarters of the way up the thigh.
09:41 There's a figure-- the figure does have a double hinge on his knee,
09:44 and there's also the swivel there on the boots.
09:46 Ankle pivot back and forth.
09:47 There's also a nice ankle rocker,
09:49 and I don't tend to usually mention this when it comes to Master Universe figures,
09:52 but they do also have pegs on the undersides of their feet.
09:55 So, yes, you can use also as well a display stand if you wanted to.
09:59 Mechanix is a nice-looking figure,
10:00 and the reason why I've actually gone way over here
10:02 is once again to bring back in the original origins--
10:04 I say original.
10:05 I actually did have the original vintage Mechanix.
10:08 It's one of the last Master Universe figures I actually did have in my collection
10:12 before eventually I sold them at a garage sale for probably, like,
10:14 I don't know, like 25 cents or something like that.
10:17 But what I really think that was smart on Mattel's part,
10:19 as I'm doing it right now,
10:20 is that not only did they give you all these additional neck pieces
10:24 that could, in fact, be used for the weapon that he wields,
10:27 but it could also be used for his neck.
10:29 It could also be used-- although it's a little harder to see.
10:31 You can also use it with, as well, the origins Mechanix.
10:34 So while that figure did also have neck pieces,
10:36 if you want to do it-- extend any one of them,
10:39 you can simply just share the ones that we get provided
10:42 with the Eternian version of Mechanix
10:44 and display them accordingly,
10:45 depending on how, of course, you want to have the figures displayed on your shelf.
10:48 I may not have as high of a neck here on the origins version of Mechanix,
10:53 but what I might just end up doing is maybe splitting it,
10:55 maybe having three on one, two on the other,
10:57 or, again, you can just attach it onto the weapon as well.
11:00 Really fun the way that they actually made these swappable component pieces.
11:03 Not just ones that can be shared with the Eternian version of Mechanix,
11:07 but also ones that you can also use, as well, with the origins.
11:09 Again, really smart on Mattel's part.
11:11 Having a little fun with Mechanix in final looks,
11:13 I've got the figure displayed using all five of the extension pieces.
11:17 I'm only using two for the telescope, and I'm then using three for his neck,
11:21 but it gives us an interesting way of displaying the figure.
11:24 Of course, you don't have to fully commit to the idea of using all five.
11:27 If you want to even just use one, just use one.
11:29 But you can also, as well, thanks to Mattel smartly deciding to use the same ball joint size,
11:33 you can also use these as well for the origins version of Mechanix,
11:37 which I've got to admit, I mean, yes, it was unfortunate that the figure
11:41 never had the original possessed gimmick of swiveling the waist to extend his neck.
11:45 I mean, I had still the original toy.
11:47 I wish I still had the original version of Mechanix,
11:49 because he was like the last master's figure I had in my collection.
11:53 But I will say, like, having ball joints with each of those individual links
11:56 gives you at least some, a little more freedom with what you can actually do with it.
12:00 Instead of just having a post that comes out from the bottom of his neck,
12:04 at least with this, you can have the figure displayed in a more interesting pose
12:07 than just relying on the gimmick solely.
12:09 I've also got the figure as well displayed here with the shield.
12:12 I mean, again, you can either attach that onto the end of his forearm,
12:14 or again, they put a provided peg on the back of his body
12:17 that you can also attach it there as well.
12:19 I should have really realized to bring in Revelation Stinkor
12:22 to see if they actually are using the same body.
12:24 And if that back hole was also used for his gas tanks.
12:27 I'm sure though we are probably going to be getting ourselves another Eternia,
12:30 new Eternia version of Stinkor.
12:32 And really of the two seven inch properties that Mattel is doing for the master's line,
12:36 I still prefer new Eternia more so than Revelation or Revolution.
12:41 But which of the two lines do you guys prefer a little bit more?
12:43 The classic inspired take of what we get with new Eternia,
12:46 or do you like the cartoon or animated look of the Revelation and Revolution line?
12:51 Let me know down below.
12:52 Mechanic is as of right now available either in stores.
12:55 Good luck, good luck finding as a Canadian collector,
12:58 or you can do what I ended up doing.
13:00 I ordered this guy online along with Master Universe Man-at-Arms
13:04 that we've already had a look at,
13:05 and one other figure that we will be looking at in an upcoming review.
13:09 Speaking of reviews though,
13:10 if you guys did enjoy the one that you just finished watching,
13:12 why don't throw it a like?
13:13 If you guys are loving the content,
13:14 you want to stick around for some more Motu reviews.
13:17 If you haven't already done so,
13:18 make sure you hit that subscribe button down below
13:20 and turn on the bell notification.
13:21 As always guys, thanks for watching.
13:23 See you guys next time.
