00:00Well, come on now to a story that was broken in the Telegraph mid-week, and that is of
00:07Joel Inton, of course, a player we haven't seen since the Weertein derby on the 6th of
00:11January when he was injured. I think it was his thigh, his quad, which were a bit of a
00:16freak injury given he was just going to strike the ball and Nazari Rousan of Sunderland just
00:20gives him a little shove and it clearly just tweaks it. It was a really unfortunate injury.
00:24And of course, he's gone for surgery since and we haven't seen him. There's a chance
00:29we might see him before the end of the season, but I think that just depends on if he's desperately
00:33needed and how fit he is and how quick his comeback is, to be honest. But the news is
00:37that he is set to sign a new contract, Luke Edwards reporting that in the Telegraph. And
00:43Jordan, that'll be like a new signing, really, won't it?
00:46Yeah, it will be because you look to the summer and it almost saves Newcastle going out and
00:53having to spend money on a midfielder, I feel like, because Eddie Howe admitted himself
00:58that if Joe Linton wasn't to sign a new contract, then there's a possibility he would be sold
01:02this summer. Obviously, considering PSR rules, etc., Newcastle have paid a club record £40
01:10million for a player that you lose for free. It doesn't make sense in the PSR world. So
01:15Newcastle would be under pressure to sell Joe Linton if he wasn't to sign a new contract.
01:19But yeah, it sounds like all things are pointing in the right direction. Positive talks over
01:24the last few weeks. I think Joe Linton has always wanted to stay here. For me, I don't
01:29think. For as much as it's been a little bit uncertain, I've never felt like he was going
01:32to leave. I think you only have to look at the way he's progressed. Yeah, the transformation
01:38of Joe Linton and Newcastle has been incredible. I don't think there's many players in Premier
01:43League history who've had that turnaround that Joe Linton's had. From a number nine
01:49flop to a combative midfielder, it's quite the turnaround. So, you look at the way he's
01:58transformed, even his family, his Instagram, his family love it. He seems like a very settled
02:05man. I don't think he would want to leave. As I say, by the sounds of it, Joe Linton will
02:11be staying, which is massive, to get him back in Derby's future, looking like it's going
02:16to be tied down is a massive, massive boost. He's established himself as a really important
02:25player. The hold up over Joe Linton's contract was the wages side of things. He feels like
02:32he's put himself in a position where he should be one of the club's highest earners. To be
02:37fair, can anyone really argue with that? The transformation from Newcastle going from relegation
02:45candidates to top four in the space of 12 months, essentially 18 months, he was a big
02:53part of that. So, I think he's demanded the wage he feels he's entitled to.
