Newport Community Library Grand Opening!

00:00 We're opening the library. It's been taken over by Newport Town Council. It was Telford and Reikin, but unfortunately they couldn't afford to

00:07 keep it financially. We all know what difficult times it are. So today at 10 o'clock it officially becomes Newport Community Library

00:15 run by Newport Town Council. Well, I think the important word is community.

00:18 It's not just about a library and books.

00:20 It is about all the extra bits and pieces and all the things that are going with it.

00:24 So people who do come in today, it's going to look the same. It's going to look pretty much like they're going to go,

00:29 "Well, what's the big deal?" But we're hoping to improve. Our first remit,

00:33 start from where we are now, we've kept it open.

00:37 That's the important first thing.

00:38 But then over the next year or two we will make as many improvements as we can.

00:46 2024, I hereby call upon all persons here present in our illustrious town of Newport

00:55 to bear witness to the grand opening of the Newport Community Library at the time of 10 o'clock this morning.
