00:00 Rumble, Rumble Man! I want to be a Rumble Man!
00:05 Look, everyone forget last year, the Rumble's the best time of the rest in calendar year
00:09 and why do we love it so much? For all the lovely surprises!
00:13 Returns from injury, calls up from NXT, beloved nostalgia pops, all the fun of the fair!
00:19 Anyway, shut the hell up, there's 20 of these bastards and we're burning daylight.
00:22 I'm Adam Hailing from PartsFarKnown and here are 20 Best Royal Rumble Surprise Entrants Ever!
00:28 Also, there's been loads of Royal Rumble content this month, go back and watch it!
00:32 And then watch the Royal Rumble. Tell us what you thought in the comments.
00:35 Please be good. Please be good.
00:38 This video is sponsored by Raid Shadow Legends, the dark fantasy RPG game you can download for free now on Android or iOS.
00:45 Once you've done that, crack open some shards for some extra Royal Rumble vibe.
00:49 Shards are special crystals which allow you to summon champions to your team.
00:52 So in true Royal Rumble style, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1...
00:59 Oh, it's Grinna!
01:02 Hello, Grinna. You look... Oh, God.
01:06 Smaller teeth than me, though.
01:07 Who's it gonna be? Who's it gonna be?
01:09 It's Cagebound!
01:11 Hello, Cagebound!
01:13 What's up with you, bud?
01:14 You've got a skull over your dick.
01:17 It's... It's Gizkard the Sigilt!
01:20 Oh, you look like a frog blowing me a kiss.
01:23 But bloody hell, you're powerful.
01:25 One of my favorite champions in the game is actual WWE star Ronda Rousey.
01:30 She's an actual playable character.
01:32 You can get her for free whether you're a new or long-term player
01:35 just by logging into Raid for seven days between now and February 20th.
01:39 Make sure to use the code RAIDRONDA to get a three-day 100% XP boost, 500k silver and five full energy refills.
01:46 It's a great time to get started with Raid with their new season of The Forge Pass, the Plarium Points program to earn in-game goodies
01:52 and fourth anniversary Titan event in the new update.
01:55 Download it now by clicking the link in the video description or scan the QR code on screen now to get unique bonuses worth $30.
02:01 That's the free epic champion Chonoru, 200k silver, one XP boost, one energy refill and one epic skill tome.
02:08 Also, it supports parts fun, though, and that's lovely.
02:11 Raid that Raid.
02:13 Number 20, Bob Backlund 2000.
02:15 Now, I'm sure that someone out there will well actually me on this,
02:18 but I'm pretty sure that Bob Backlund strolling into the 2000 Royal Rumble mid-running for Congress after being out of WWE for four years
02:25 is one of the first ever, like, surprise returns in Rumble history.
02:30 I think it is.
02:33 I think it is, gang.
02:34 Gets a monster pop, too, from the hardcore New York crowd, then proceeds to do a little bollock-all in the actual match itself,
02:40 but gosh, they make a lot of noise for him.
02:43 I had no idea who he was when I was a fan.
02:45 Number 19, Lita 2018.
02:47 The first surprise entrant of the first Women's Royal Rumble,
02:50 Lita gets the kind of heartwarmingly large reaction you'd expect from a legend last seen wrestling on Pay-Per-View back in 2006
02:56 before Crime Time came out to sell her dildo for $25, and not a word of that sentence is a lie.
03:02 Sure, she almost kills Sasha and Becky with the Lita salt, but it's still good.
03:06 Still good.
03:07 Number 18, Hacksaw Jim Duggan 2009.
03:10 Oh, ridiculous.
03:12 The first official winner of a Royal Rumble likes to pop in now and again to shout "ho," wave a stick around,
03:18 and remind everyone that they're in America.
03:19 He's done it a bunch of times, but by far the best one was in 2009 where he turned up,
03:23 "No top on, lad. Fair f***s to you," and the crowd went mental for him, roaring along with the insane bust of Grandpa.
03:32 17, Goldust 2013.
03:34 The closest that WWE ever came to doing Cody vs. Dustin properly, a feud they kept either ignoring or f***ing up.
03:40 But don't worry, no good matches ever came from Cody vs. Dustin.
03:44 Oh, wait.
03:45 Monster pop for Goldust, this, who was making his, check's notes, fifth return to the company,
03:50 but was also in the best shape of his life, so much so that he stuck with the company for years after.
03:54 Number 16, Mr. Perfect 2002.
03:57 Man, I wish when I first started watching wrestling I knew Mr. Perfect was,
04:00 'cause I would've lost my tiny mind watching him return in the 2002 Royal Rumble.
04:04 Kurt Hennig strolled in with the same swagger and lasted to the final three
04:09 before getting eliminated by a triple H and then shame about the rest of his short run in the company afterwards.
04:14 Number 15, Christian 2021.
04:16 This would rank so much higher if Christian actually returned in front of a live crowd.
04:21 He hadn't been seen in-ring for seven years since he retired to protect his lovely brain,
04:25 made his return at the 2021 Royal Rumble, had a lovely cuddle with his brother and boyfriend, Edge,
04:30 something that would've been tear-inducingly nice if there'd been more than gifts for fans in attendance.
04:35 Also, lol, he immediately went to AEW afterwards.
04:38 Number 14, Diesel 2011.
04:40 The gap between how happy fans were to see someone and how little they actually ended up doing
04:45 has never been larger than Diesel's return at the 2011 Rumble.
04:48 Holy sh*t.
04:50 People were happy to see the worst WWE champion of all time
04:53 getting the kind of monster pop that makes the Rumble so special.
04:56 Look at Kofi's face.
04:57 There are thunderous "Let's Go, Diesel" chants, the kind that the company never heard in 1995,
05:03 and he walks around, punches some people before being eliminated by Wade Barrett, I guess.
05:08 G- Bye-bye.
05:09 Number 13, Rob Van Dam 2009.
05:12 Nothing compliments a shocking Rumble return and JR screaming "It can't be!"
05:17 It's just not the same when Michael Cole shouts "Oh my."
05:20 In 2009, after two years away, Ronald Van Donald turned for one night only
05:24 before immediately heading back to the indies.
05:26 He arrived, got a monster pop, delivered all his signature offense,
05:29 didn't do a whole lot of important stuff, but everyone was very happy.
05:31 Story of RVD's post-2006 WWE career, to be honest.
05:35 And speaking of ECW, number 12, Bubba Ray Dudley 2015.
05:40 A fact that often goes unremembered before Daniel Bryan was eliminated,
05:42 the 2015 Royal Rumble was really good.
05:45 Bray Wyatt got to conduct a sermon, interact with the Boogeyman, which was brief and fun.
05:50 DDP had a fun return too, but best of all, Bubba Ray Dudley returned for one night,
05:54 and he was greeted with such rapturous ovation that him and D-Von both got a nostalgia run
05:59 later that year.
06:00 And it was also very funny to see Bubba Ray run through all the signature Dudley spots
06:03 with just the closest black guy he could find.
06:06 Philly really, really liked this one before they really didn't like everything else.
06:11 Number 11, Rey Mysterio 2018.
06:14 God, the 2018 Royal Rumble was mint.
06:16 Genuinely one of the greatest of all time due to its clever structure,
06:19 solid through lines, and blistering final stretch,
06:21 with the roster being quite deep at the time.
06:23 Unlike the women's roster, there were not many returns here.
06:26 Hurricane swung by to say hello, but more importantly, Rey Mysterio,
06:29 arriving to a much nicer ovation in his last Rumble in 2014.
06:33 And in the shape of his life, returning to the company after a spell in Lucha Underground,
06:37 he looked great, still wrestled like a whippet,
06:39 and contributed to the ace old vs. new narrative of the final six.
06:43 Number 10, Ty Dillinger 2017.
06:46 Very occasionally, you want WWE to do the thing,
06:49 and WWE actually does the thing, so you say, "Yay, they did the thing."
06:53 I like it when that happens, and in 2017,
06:55 which is not actually a good Rumble year despite the megastars involved,
06:58 they did the thing.
06:59 Ty Dillinger, a man who got super over in NXT by being obsessed with the number 10,
07:03 got cooled up, and ended the Rumble at number 10,
07:06 one of the few times that the main roster of WWE actually seemed to understand
07:09 the NXT prospect they had on their hands.
07:10 Heartwarming, fun, and funny.
07:12 Number 9, Booker T 2011.
07:14 This return is both beautiful and terrible.
07:17 Beautiful because Booker T, after four years away, gets a humongous pop,
07:21 does all his moves to the fans prolapsing themselves in joy,
07:24 looks great, gets eliminated at the right time to put heat on the heel faction running the Rumble.
07:29 Pretty much perfect in terms of a nostalgia return.
07:32 Kinda could have done without Matt Stryker shouting,
07:34 "It's a markout moment, I'm marking out, bro," on commentary,
07:39 and repeatedly clapping into a live mic.
07:41 But that's not Booker T's fault, I suppose.
07:44 Number 8, Trish Stratus 2018.
07:46 The first ever number 30 in the first ever Women's Rumble for the first ever women in WWE
07:52 was reserved for a very special guest, the Doctor of Stratusfactology.
07:57 It's always nice to see Trish Stratus.
07:59 She's unironically beloved by all, although this return does rank slightly lower for the
08:03 baffling decision to not have her and Lita share the ring at the same f***ing time.
08:10 Her interaction with Mickie James was truly lovely, though.
08:13 Number 7, Chris Jericho 2013.
08:15 A major Royal Rumble surprise return that was actually a surprise.
08:20 Delightful.
08:20 With the plethora of wrestling news that exists,
08:23 it's very hard to have a major Royal Rumble return happen
08:25 without it being hinted at by the wrestling media.
08:28 Y2J Thought sod that and shocked everyone.
08:31 Six months after Dolph Ziggler ran him out of WWE like Armin Tamzarian,
08:35 after Dolph walked in at number one, Jericho returned at number two,
08:39 and no one knew it was coming.
08:41 Lovely stuff.
08:42 Number 6, Mick Foley 2004.
08:45 In 2003, Randy Orton adopted the gimmick that truly made him the Legend Killer Gimmick.
08:50 One of the legends killed was Mick Foley, whom Randall punted down the stairs and essentially
08:54 drove out of the company, which made Foley's return at the 2004 Rumble all the sweeter.
08:59 Orton had been in the ring for half an hour when Foley,
09:03 Banjax test backstage, took his spot and immediately wrecked Randy's s***.
09:08 Kamikazeing himself and Randall out of the ring.
09:11 It is an awesome payoff.
09:13 Number 5, The Three Faces of Foley 1998.
09:16 And sticking with Mrs. Foley's baby boy for a moment, the 1998 Rumble is a bit crap.
09:21 It has some moments.
09:22 Owen Hart and Jeff Jarrett do some fun stuff, and the Rumble accomplishes some important things.
09:26 The Rock has the match as Iron Man, but it's crammed full of mid-cardists who'd never
09:30 win this thing in a million years, making it feel very samey throughout.
09:33 JR spends the entire Rumble asking when Austin's gonna show up.
09:37 You know, like he's f***ing Pucci.
09:39 The one treasured memory, though, Mick Foley wearing all three faces of Cactus Jack at number
09:45 one, Mankind at number 16, and Dude Love at number 28.
09:49 All of them appearing throughout the match.
09:50 It is very sweet.
09:52 Number 4, Keith Lee 2020.
09:55 Ah, this one's just for me.
09:56 But it's also a wonderful moment.
09:58 Definitely the best NXT Rumble call-up.
10:00 Well, maybe Shayna Baszler earlier that night, but that wasn't really a surprise.
10:03 She was heavily tipped to win the thing.
10:05 This was a joyous shock.
10:08 North American champion Keith Lee striding into the Royal Rumble to stand face-to-face
10:13 with an infatuated Brock Lesnar and punking his Minnesotan ass out.
10:18 Oh, it's my favorite thing.
10:19 Number 3, AJ Styles 2016.
10:22 Unlike Jericho's 2013 return, everyone kinda knew that AJ Styles would probably, possibly,
10:29 maybe be headed towards WWE.
10:31 He strenuously denied it every time, but even so, people thought, "Oh, maybe he'll go to
10:36 NXT.
10:37 Maybe he'll be in the Rumble, but probably not.
10:39 Vince hates TNA guys, after all."
10:41 Boom!
10:42 Nope!
10:42 He's in at number three.
10:44 Number f***ing three!
10:46 Sure, they f***ed up the camera angle, thanks, Kev, but Styles walked into WWE to immediately
10:51 square up to WWE champion Roman Reigns, and it was a wonderful, uncanny surprise.
10:58 Number two, Edge.
10:59 Both of them.
11:00 Two all-time great returns, ten years apart.
11:03 In 2010, after being on the shelf for six months, Edge returned, speared everyone, came
11:08 face-to-face with his former tag partner before ousting them from the match.
11:11 Ten years later, after being on the shelf for nine years, Edge returned, speared everyone,
11:16 came face-to-face with his former tag partner before ousting them from the match.
11:20 On both occasions, the fans went mental, and it became an instant classic Rumble moment.
11:25 However, you could argue that fans guessed both returns were coming, unlike…
11:30 Number one, John Cena, 2008.
11:33 The quintessential Rumble return.
11:36 The top guy in the company at number 30, returning months before anyone could have expected,
11:42 surprising every single person in that building.
11:44 Hell, it was so shocking that John Cena drew a rapturous pop out of the Madison Square Garden
11:50 crowd, the hardcore New York fans who f***ing hated him all the time, and still lost their
11:56 collective minds.
11:57 It's still the best return of all time, and one of the reasons why you can never rule
12:00 out anything when it comes to the Royal Rumble.
12:03 Fight me.
12:03 And that's our list.
12:04 What's your favorite Royal Rumble surprise?
