00:00 If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I'd like to do is to save every
00:09 day till eternity passes away just to spend them lying on the mat during a Royal Rumble.
00:18 Pardon my singing voice.
00:19 Yes, it is Royal Rumble season once again, and as we all theorized about who could win
00:23 Willy Wonka's big gold ticket to Vince's stupendous chocolate wrestle factory, here
00:27 we will take a look at the much more fascinating topic of who is getting paid by the hour during
00:31 WWE's most exciting match of the year.
00:33 I mean, if I could take a nap on the floor and rack up meaningless stats in Royal Rumbles,
00:37 I would too.
00:38 I mean, I could be featured on a list on PartsFunKnown, and as we all know, that is a much cooler
00:42 thing than some stupendous title match at some stupendous Wrestlemania.
00:46 I like stat padding.
00:47 Go get your 200th triple-double, Westbrook.
00:50 Sports Ball.
00:51 I'm Tempest Hailing from PartsFunKnown, and these are the 10 WWE stars with the most time
00:55 spent in the Royal Rumble.
00:56 Do you have the most time spent in the PartsFunKnown Rumble?
01:01 Well, collect your title shot for Wrestlemania by subscribing to PartsFunKnown.
01:06 Hit the button.
01:07 And the bell.
01:08 That's important too.
01:09 Number 10, CM Punk.
01:11 Two hours, 48 minutes, 11 seconds.
01:14 You know, there are a few people on this list whose stats will probably get a boost from
01:17 future appearances in Royal Rumble matches, rendering this list redundant, but this fella
01:22 sure won't be one of them.
01:23 The now revitalized AEW star CM Punk competed in six Royal Rumble matches from 2007 to 2014,
01:30 racking up two hours, 48 minutes, and 11 seconds giving sermons, getting concussed, and generally
01:35 milling about.
01:36 Punk was actually a very solid workhorse in the Royal Rumble match, sporting an average
01:40 of 28 minutes hugging ropes and laughing at Roddy Piper.
01:43 Punk has the least amount of Rumble appearances of anyone on this list, which explains his
01:46 position at number 10, but had he stayed in WWE, he could have made a real run for the
01:51 record.
01:52 He could have died if he stayed in WWE, so these things are never a guarantee.
01:55 Punk's stats are heavily padded with an impressive Iron Man performance in the 2014 Royal Rumble,
01:59 a performance made even more impressive by the fact that Kofi Kingston gave him a concussion
02:03 less than a third of the way through, and the fact that he was less than 24 hours away
02:06 from storming into Vince and Trip's office and telling him just how much he loved working
02:10 for WWE.
02:11 It's been a while since I listened to that podcast.
02:13 I think that's what he said.
02:14 Number 9, John Cena.
02:16 Two hours, 48 minutes, 32 seconds.
02:18 Did you know that John Cena actually has the most Royal Rumble appearances in history?
02:22 Yeah, I didn't believe it either, but he's actually been in 34 Royal Rumbles.
02:26 You just couldn't see him.
02:27 Oh, yuck.
02:28 In reality, Cena has a modest eight Rumble match appearances.
02:31 You might think he would have more than that, considering he's been in WWE for 20 f***ing
02:35 years, but no.
02:36 Injuries, movies, and being champion in January really limit the amount of times you can wabadoo
02:41 your way down to the ring and try and point at a sign.
02:44 As for the appearances he did make, Cena makes it onto this list by maintaining a steady
02:47 average of 21 and a half minutes per Rumble.
02:50 He has a pair of sub-10 minute performances, including his Rumble win in 2008, but he also
02:54 never had a true Iron Man performance either.
02:56 His longest Rumble appearance clocked in at 34 minutes, 17 seconds in the stupid 2011
03:01 Royal Rumble, and it only lasted that long because that Rumble needed to go on god damn
03:05 Weight Watchers.
03:06 Others on this list have a lot more disparity in their longest and shortest appearances,
03:10 but not Cena, who stuck much closer to the median with a series of 15 to 30 minute outings.
03:14 Not remarkable numbers, but enough to earn 9th place.
03:18 Number 8, Cody Rhodes.
03:19 Three hours, six minutes, 45 seconds.
03:22 This long list of current and future Hall of Famers, main event wrestlers whose Royal
03:27 Rumble performances earned many of them the title shots they sought for the great big
03:30 sparkly WrestleMania in the sky, and also Cody Rhodes, the career mid-carder in WWE.
03:37 Not saying he isn't a worthy inclusion, it's just surprising.
03:40 Everyone else on this list is a former multiple time WWE World Champion, and it makes sense
03:44 that they would accrue large numbers of impressive Royal Rumble appearances, but sneaking his
03:48 way onto this list is Cody Rhodes at number 8 with 3 hours, 6 minutes, and 45 seconds
03:53 spent trying to triumph in the tremendous tussle.
03:55 I'll be honest, I can't recall any of these performances for the life of me, but
03:59 looking at these numbers and after consulting Scott Steiner, I can confirm that they do
04:03 add up.
04:04 Cody only has one sub-10 minute appearance, being eliminated by DX in 2010, but otherwise
04:09 he was one of WWE's go-to Royal Rumble performers for the better part of a decade.
04:13 A 37 minute outing in 2009, and a 42 minute showing in 2012 are among the longest of anyone
04:19 on this list, and my god, imagine having to spend 42 minutes being involved in the 2012
04:24 Royal Rumble.
04:25 That's deserving of praise all on its own.
04:26 Number 7, Kane.
04:28 3 hours, 19 minutes, 40 seconds.
04:31 If it wasn't clear from the last entry, these stats are not specific to one gimmick.
04:35 Cody Rhodes can rack up stats dressed as Starman all he wants, and boy, does that ever ring
04:39 true for everyone's favorite corporate dentist, Republican Mayor Diesel impersonator, Kane.
04:44 You know every once in a while, you have to try a few times before you find your calling
04:47 in life.
04:48 Maybe they just didn't have job fairs in hell.
04:50 Honestly, I respect it.
04:51 Before his first appearance as the Devil's Favorite Plaything, or whatever, Kane made
04:55 an appearance as Dr. Isaac Yankum DDS in 1996, and Super Shredder in 1997.
05:01 Kane is also by far the most bizarre entry on this list.
05:05 Kane's Rumble performances are the definition of a mixed bag.
05:08 On one hand, you have his legendary 54-minute performance in 2001, where he eliminated a
05:13 then-record 11 people.
05:16 But then you also realize that's almost a third of his accumulated time, and Kane also
05:20 has the record for most Rumble appearances with f***ing 20.
05:23 What the f*** happened?
05:25 It's f***ing Kane, innit?
05:26 He should have like 9 hours racked up by now.
05:29 But no, rather, Kane has an inconceivable 9 Rumble appearances at less than 4 minutes.
05:35 7 of them come in at less than 2 minutes.
05:38 If I have to hear commentators say "How will they ever get HIM over the top rope?"
05:42 again, I will rip off my nose and hang it on my chin.
05:46 If you can eliminate Kane in under 2 minutes, it can't be that hard, Cole.
05:50 6.
05:51 Edge 3 hours, 31 minutes, 51 seconds.
05:54 Well now that the baffling one is out of the way, let's turn our attention to a more heartwarming
05:58 inclusion.
05:59 Simply put, Edge would not have cracked the top 10 without his miraculous comeback.
06:02 Hell, he wouldn't have even cracked the top 15.
06:05 That's not to say that his Rumble appearances weren't great before then, but Edge was another
06:09 example of injuries and January dates with the big gold belt keeping him from participating
06:13 in the old countdown run-down showdown.
06:15 I mean, I understand that.
06:16 Look at that belt.
06:17 It is in fact big and gold.
06:19 Edge actually has multiple Ironman performances, robberting his way to 40 minutes in 2005,
06:24 down-ee-ing for 44 minutes in 2007, and junior-ing a 58 and a half minute performance to win
06:29 the Rumble in 2021.
06:31 Performances that would have the Mandarin running scared.
06:33 Also, did you know Edge is the only person to win multiple Royal Rumbles and lose both
06:38 of his subsequent WrestleMania matches?
06:39 Oh no, I'm sad again.
06:42 Number 5, Rey Mysterio 3 hours, 45 minutes, 16 seconds.
06:46 Okay, alright, fine.
06:48 I've made it this far without having to bring this up, but I can make it no further.
06:52 We're not counting the greatest Royal Rumble, and neither should you.
06:55 It's dumb, and it should be forgotten.
06:57 As far as I'm concerned, it is not canon in the lineage of Royal Rumbles, much like we
07:01 don't count the Raw Rumble from 2011, or the Smackdown Rumble from 2004.
07:05 This needed to be said, because the only person affected by not acknowledging that 80 minute
07:09 slog is Rey Mysterio.
07:11 If you count that match, then just bump Rey up two spots, but I'm not gonna.
07:14 Sorry Rey, you were in the first match I ever saw, and I love you for it.
07:18 Seems that over the years, WWE has forgotten how much of a legend they have on their hands
07:23 in Rey Mysterio.
07:24 Rey's Rumble performances are a pretty revealing reflection of that, as 3 hours of his 3 hour
07:28 45 minute accumulated total came in his first 5 appearances.
07:33 This of course includes his all time record 62 minute 12 second performance in 2006, as
07:38 well as going 38 minutes in 2005, and 49 minutes in 2009.
07:42 That's really solid stuff.
07:44 But since 2011, Rey has struggled to accumulate the last 40 minutes of his total in 6 combined
07:50 matches.
07:51 I mean, it's bloody Rey Mysterio.
07:52 Treat him like he's a big deal, ya bellends.
07:55 Number 4, Shawn Michaels, 3 hours 47 minutes 32 seconds.
07:59 You know what I don't understand?
08:01 Why would you lie about stats from the Royal Rumble?
08:04 You'd never hear Joe Buck say Tom Brady has won 10 Super Bowls just because it sounds
08:08 impressive.
08:09 Sportsball.
08:10 I mean, you can look that shit up.
08:12 Very easily.
08:13 So why does WWE love saying that Shawn Michaels lasted an hour in the Royal Rumble in 1995?
08:18 I know it's WWE, and they're about as trustworthy as Fletcher Reed, but the Royal Rumble is
08:23 like the one WWE match based on f***ing statistics.
08:27 They air a million "by the numbers" videos each year.
08:30 Whatever.
08:31 Shawn Michaels does find himself high on this list, even if his Rumble-winning performance
08:34 in 1995 lasted 38 minutes and not an hour.
08:38 HBK has a very respectable track record in the aristocratic altercation.
08:41 Although his 38 minute 95 performance is the longest outing of Shawn's career, he did
08:46 have several 24 minute plus showings as well, and one where he was eliminated in 12 seconds
08:51 in 1990, but I mean, look at him.
08:53 That's not the heartbreak kid.
08:54 That's a heartbroken child.
08:55 Look at this frilly lavender outfit.
08:57 Why isn't he wearing this stuff today?
08:59 Number 3, Triple H, 4 hours, 50 seconds.
09:02 Triple H has 3 Royal Rumble performances over 45 minutes?
09:05 Okay.
09:06 Trips doesn't stand out as a legendary Sovereign Scuffle performer to me, but at over 4 hours
09:11 of accumulated Rumble time?
09:12 Yeah, alright.
09:13 Fair enough.
09:14 His Rumble debut saw him go 48 minutes in 1996, one of the only impressive things about
09:19 that match.
09:20 His runner-up performance in 2009 clocked in at a whopping 50 minutes, and his 2006
09:25 outing where he and Rey Mysterio started the match as entrance number 2 saw them both fight
09:29 for over an hour.
09:30 Trips 2006 60 minute 16 second showing gets lost in the shuffle because of Rey Mysterio's
09:35 much more impressive 62 minute 12 second performance.
09:39 I mean, anyone can wrestle for 60 minutes.
09:42 Big deal.
09:43 But 62 minutes?
09:44 Hot diggity damn.
09:45 Now that is impressive.
09:47 But Triple H still stands with the 4th longest single Rumble performance.
09:51 Not too shabby.
09:52 With over 4 hours spent in Royal Rumbles, the only game "the game" has been playing
09:56 is the waiting game.
09:57 But the waiting game sucks, so let's play Hungry Hungry Hippos.
10:00 Number 2, Randy Orton, 4 hours 20 minutes 49 seconds.
10:05 Remember that time Randy Orton won the 2017 Royal Rumble?
10:08 Yeah, that was dumb.
10:09 Samoa Joe, Finn Balor, Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho?
10:13 None of these seemed like better options.
10:14 Alright, whatever.
10:15 This isn't the point of the video.
10:17 I like Randy Orton.
10:18 Randy is a really weird one for this list because on one hand, I am so sad he couldn't
10:23 have been in this match for 20 more seconds.
10:25 I know it would never be written as 69 seconds, but let me have this one.
10:29 But on the other hand, I'm looking at the numbers for his Rumble appearances and man,
10:32 this was an unremarkable 4 and a half hours.
10:35 He has two major Ironman performances when he won in 2009 and again in 2021 when he entered
10:41 at number 2 and was the runner up.
10:43 But otherwise, man, this massive accumulated time really is the result of being in so many
10:48 of these matches.
10:49 Orton has competed in 12 Rumbles, tied for second most of those on this list.
10:53 We've got 13 minutes in 2006, 8 minutes in 2011, 5 minutes in 2012, 10 minutes in 2013,
10:59 14 minutes in 2018, 6 minutes in 2019, and 14 minutes in 2020.
11:05 Like I said, it's very unremarkable, but when half of his 4 hours comes in in two massive
11:10 outings, the rest really does just sort of add up.
11:13 I've done far too much math for this list, my head hurts.
11:16 And number 1, Chris Jericho.
11:19 4 hours, 56 minutes, 15 seconds.
11:23 I knew this one was coming.
11:24 Chris Jericho, this cheeky little sausage, might have the record for the most time spent
11:29 on WWE pay-per-view performing while actually doing nothing for his appearance at the 2017
11:35 Royal Rumble.
11:36 Not only did he rack up the 5th longest time spent in a single Rumble with 1 hour 13 seconds,
11:41 but if you recall, he also spent about 25 minutes hanging in a shark cage during Kevin
11:45 Owens' Universal title match with Roman Reigns that night.
11:48 If Jericho was working by the hour, he was f***ing milking it that night.
11:52 How Jericho never won the Royal Rumble is such a mystery to me, especially when you
11:56 consider that he was the obvious choice in 2012 and 2017.
12:00 While it appears unlikely that Chris Jericho will ever compete in a Royal Rumble again
12:04 (insert footage of a shocking 2022 Rumble appearance here), Jericho's record near
12:08 5 hours spent in the Royal Rumble may never be approached if Randy Orton doesn't start
12:13 to pick up the pace.
12:14 Jericho earned these minutes too.
12:16 His average Royal Rumble appearance is almost a half hour.
12:19 39 minutes in 2003, 28 in 2005, 37 in 2009, 48 in 2013, and 50 in 2016 make Jericho the
12:28 obvious candidate for the biggest workhorse in Royal Rumble history.
12:31 When Jericho takes the short jog down the ramp for the annual "No One Will Be Able
12:35 to Eliminate the Big Show" match, he always has his working boots on.
12:39 Now run along before all these stats change in 2 weeks.
12:43 And that's our list.
12:44 Do you count the greatest Royal Rumble in your stats?
