00:00 Well now that he knows, I'm sure he's not going to leave the Batcave without one.
00:04 Here's your look at Brandon McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Batman and Robins Batman.
00:09 [music]
00:38 Dark Knight battles his greatest threats yet.
00:40 Cold-hearted Mr. Freeze, venomous poison Ivy and the unstoppable brute known only as Bane.
00:46 Batman finds himself at odds with his crime-fighting comrade Robin.
00:50 No longer satisfied with his role as a sidekick,
00:53 as Mr. Freeze threatens to unleash a new Ice Age upon the citizens of Gotham City.
00:57 The dynamic duo now joined by the heroic newcomer Batgirl
01:01 must learn to work as a team before Gotham City is put on ice.
01:05 Sorely lacking in bat skates, we're going to go ahead and grab the tape measure
01:08 and see how tall the George Clooney Batman stands from Batman and Robin.
01:11 A strange choice I feel for McFarlane Toys to actually tackle the fourth Batman film
01:16 and the least successful.
01:18 Some could very well say that Batman and Robin was the nail in the coffin
01:21 that killed the Bat franchise until eventually it was rejuvenated later
01:24 with what we got with the Nolanverse.
01:26 Anyways though, Batman with his pointed ears of course,
01:29 the top of his cowl, the figure stands about seven inches in height.
01:32 Or the figure is going to be about 17.5 centimeters tall.
01:36 Missing my chance to get that originally released Batman set
01:39 that had George Clooney Batman already in it,
01:41 along with a Val Kilmer Batman.
01:43 And even though that is the only time that we've gotten a Val Kilmer Batman,
01:45 I'm sure and convinced that we are going to get ourselves a Batman Forever Wave
01:48 at some point that also did have a Michael Keaton Batman,
01:50 and it did also have a Christian Bale Batman, which I will bring in right now.
01:54 Not the one that came from that set, but one that came from the Bill the Figure Bane Wave.
01:58 One thing I did want to mention though about the Bill the Figure Bane Wave
02:01 that made me thinking about this wave,
02:02 could help it notice that we get the cold-hearted Mr. Freeze as the Bill the Figure for the set.
02:06 I think rather instead, giving us a Jeep Swanson Bane would have made more sense.
02:10 Giving us Mr. Freeze as a fifth figure,
02:12 and then giving us a more bigger and bulkier version of Bane.
02:15 Because I'm sure we're never going to be getting that Jeep Swanson Bane.
02:18 And even though I'm sure many people just hate that design of Bane,
02:21 just to have that figure as part of Batman and Robin Wave,
02:24 would have preferred I think a Bill the Figure Bane,
02:27 rather than a Bill the Figure Mr. Freeze.
02:29 Another figure as well we can bring in as well is the Tactical Suit Batman.
02:32 This is the Ben Affleck Batman, which I think actually was part of that Batman Wave as well.
02:36 Not with this specific look necessarily,
02:38 but I think in fact we did get ourselves a Ben Affleck that made the figure set of five instead of four.
02:43 So what does come in clue with the George Clooney Batman you may be asking yourself?
02:47 Well, everything that you see in front of you,
02:50 as well as something you may not be able to see, just the corner top of the card.
02:53 First the figure comes in clue with the display stand.
02:55 The stand itself is once again just that circular display with the DC logo printed of course down below.
03:00 I think for movie tie-in figures, it probably would have made more sense to choose one color that's unique to that movie,
03:05 or one that you think of right away with that movie.
03:07 Batman Forever for example could be green,
03:09 Batman and Robin for example could be like a nice blue.
03:12 I think doing this in a nice blue DC logo would have been a nice touch
03:15 and make this unique than any other stands we've gotten so far.
03:18 The figure as well comes in clue with the trading card.
03:21 I believe this is just a corner top of the poster.
03:24 You can see there's Poison Ivy's hair down below.
03:26 Robin I think would be on this side here and Mr. Freeze would be on the top.
03:30 So they've literally just taken a cut out.
03:32 I would though imagine as we look at the rest of the four figures,
03:35 because of course the fifth one being Mr. Freeze,
03:37 we might very well be able to put together the puzzle, put together the poster puzzle.
03:41 The only thing that really would be missing then is Mr. Freeze at the top,
03:44 unless one of the figures also come in clue with Mr. Freeze's card.
03:47 Stay tuned to find out if that's true.
03:49 On the back of the card though, the real name is Bruce Wayne.
03:51 It's a little more than a paragraph read.
03:53 You can read for yourself if you so wish.
03:55 And we'll just put that to the side.
03:57 The figure for component pieces for Mr. Freeze sadly are just his legs.
04:01 Sure enough, I could have easily started these series of reviews
04:04 with looking at the figure that comes in clue with the torso.
04:06 But I thought though, considering this is a Batman and Robin wave,
04:09 look at Batman first, likely maybe Robin next, we'll see.
04:13 With Batman though, you're only really getting the boots
04:15 or at least the top legs of Mr. Freeze.
04:17 Molded fairly well I would say in silver plastic.
04:20 All the things that are blue accents in the movie
04:22 are blue accent painted on the figure itself.
04:24 Again, there's really not much really to show for here at least.
04:27 I mean, you can just put this next to Batman.
04:29 You can kind of see he's going to be just a little bit bigger than Batman,
04:32 although his legs are going to be about the same.
04:34 The figure also comes in clue with these,
04:36 which I would imagine would be shoulder pads.
04:39 I don't know.
04:40 I don't know how well this is really going to work with the figure.
04:42 I'm sure it's just a case that it doesn't have to necessarily complete the figure.
04:45 If you want to just leave it off Mr. Freeze altogether,
04:47 you can certainly do that and just not have Mr. Freeze with ice shoulders.
04:49 It also kind of looks like these would be ice slippers,
04:52 although slipping around on the floor on ice slippers
04:54 probably wouldn't be a good idea.
04:56 Nicely done though in translucent blue plastic,
04:58 but we really don't have anything to add this to
05:01 until we get further on into the wave.
05:03 I'll put those to the side as well.
05:05 Again, I joked earlier the fact that the figure
05:07 doesn't come in clue with any bat skates.
05:09 One of those head shaking moments though in the movie.
05:12 While he doesn't come in clue with any bat skates,
05:14 the figure also doesn't come in clue with, as you can see, anything else.
05:17 No gripping hands either, so even if you wanted to maybe pillage
05:20 something from another Batman accessory,
05:22 you can't even have that really displayed in Batman's hands,
05:25 because he doesn't even have gripping hands.
05:27 The figure, what he does have though, is some decent detailing
05:30 and a decent likeness I feel to George Clooney.
05:32 From all the sides, especially mostly here in the chin,
05:35 I feel it does certainly look like George Clooney.
05:37 Really many people hated George Clooney's performance as Batman.
05:40 I think it really wasn't his performance.
05:42 I thought he was a good Bruce Wayne and an equally good Batman.
05:45 It was just the writing that made everything atrocious.
05:47 Like having a bat card, like his credit bat credit card.
05:50 He never leaves the Batcave without it.
05:52 Just total cringe moments.
05:54 But I will say though, like from a figure standpoint,
05:56 it does look quite a lot like, it does look a lot like George Clooney.
05:59 I looked at the nose for example and thought that something seemed off.
06:02 Like his nose and especially the point for his cowl was kind of shifted to the side.
06:06 But the more I'm looking at it, the more I'm thinking it was just more my eyes
06:09 playing tricks on me.
06:10 In a way it does kind of look a little bent,
06:12 but I think it's probably just the way I'm looking at the figure.
06:14 The one thing I will say though about the figure is the way they've cast this figure
06:17 mostly in black plastic.
06:19 If though we were to bring back in the card as a referencing point.
06:23 You can see that in Batman's media posters and all the things that kind of are attached
06:27 to Batman and Robin and even really in the movie, the way that light hits Batman's suit,
06:31 he seems to have a lot of bluish tint to it.
06:34 And I feel like that doesn't really properly resonate here on the figure.
06:37 Sure yes, it's nicely cast in black plastic and the details all look good on this,
06:41 but I think the figure really could have benefited from having a little bit of a bluish highlight.
06:45 Just some areas covering across the front of his torso,
06:47 certainly areas around his mask as well.
06:49 So he didn't look so stark and black like this.
06:52 Whether we are going to be getting those, whatever, what would they be at the end of the movie?
06:56 Those stupid things that he was wearing.
06:58 Him, Robin and Batgirl were all wearing sort of silver suits.
07:01 Maybe we might get that for future figure release.
07:03 I hope not.
07:04 I'm fine just to have this version of Batman.
07:06 Now this Batman, instead of actually having the Bat logo in orange or in yellow,
07:10 he actually is doing this all in black.
07:12 The black logo actually looks quite good,
07:14 although it's a little harder to make it out because there's no real any other color on the figure.
07:19 At least though the Bat logo and the Bat belt, utility belt,
07:23 seems to be like it's more of a matte black plastic.
07:26 So it's not as shiny as the rest of the suit.
07:28 And in a way though, even though it really needed a lot more color,
07:31 it stands out just a little bit better.
07:33 The figure does have a soft goods cape and actually it's a decent material that they've used for this.
07:38 It has a lot of give, it has a lot of width and it has a lot of flow to it.
07:41 I really like the look of this cape.
07:43 One thing I didn't actually notice until I saw this on the figure,
07:46 you know when you see things in movies and you don't think that you see them
07:49 because everything is moving so fast.
07:51 Batman half the time is running around as you probably see right now.
07:54 The one thing I didn't never really, I never really knew about the suit
07:57 was that Batman had Bat logos on the tops of his Bat boots.
08:01 I don't really even think that was necessary.
08:03 And yet that's a detail I never noticed at all in the movie
08:06 and only noticed now in the figure.
08:08 The plastic is generally quite shiny as you can see.
08:11 He does have kind of more in the knee cap area and the elbow area, more matte plastic.
08:16 So it does stand out a little bit, but it's not as bad.
08:19 It certainly wouldn't have been as bad like if for example,
08:21 the suit was colored just a little bit differently.
08:23 Then you probably would have seen the knee caps and the elbow pads
08:26 standing out a little bit more like sore thumbs.
08:28 He does also have the little blades on the sides of his gauntlets,
08:31 on the sides of his gloves for example.
08:33 They're not super spiky.
08:35 And again, a detail I would have never been able to see in the movie
08:38 was the way that they're actually sculpted.
08:40 They're sculpted less like points and they're actually sculpted more like pointy waves.
08:44 It's an interesting looking suit.
08:46 Certainly one of the big things that people complain about for the suit,
08:48 and I can certainly agree, is the fact that Batman has Bat nipples.
08:52 Don't think I wasn't going to go for the rest of this review
08:54 without pointing out the fact that Batman and Robin have Bat nipples.
08:57 Apparently they did want to design this based on Roman statues,
09:01 but I don't think it really conveyed that well
09:03 when it translated that to an actual costume.
09:06 I don't think that superheroes should ever really have nipples
09:09 when it comes to their suits.
09:11 That might be the only time in fact I say nipples in a review.
09:14 Overall though, it's a nice looking Batman figure.
09:16 I think really what he needed the most was a whole lot more color.
09:19 Taking some of the cues perhaps from the card,
09:21 he really needed a lot more blue highlights.
09:23 Just again, because it does need to break up a lot of the black
09:26 because he's got so much on the figure's body.
09:29 Now for Batman's articulation, the head's going to be on a ball joint,
09:31 so of course it does rotate all the way around.
09:34 Batman's head does look up that high, which is really quite good actually.
09:37 The head does look down as well,
09:39 and you can also have the figure rocking back and forth as well.
09:42 As for the arms, the arms easily come out 90 degrees
09:44 just because again he has the sculpting of the cape.
09:47 The cape doesn't take up any space at all on the shoulders,
09:50 so it's very easy to bring Batman's arms out at 90 degrees.
09:53 Again, you can rotate them all the way around as well.
09:55 The figure has a bicep swivel, a little bit tighter on my figure.
09:59 The figure also has a double hinge on the elbow.
10:02 And even though he doesn't have any means to grip any accessories that you may give him,
10:06 at least the fist hands do rotate all the way around.
10:10 Now when it comes to his upper torso,
10:12 his upper torso is actually sculpted in a way that it looks pretty seamless.
10:16 Still, yeah, you can very obviously see the cut line on the side,
10:19 but looking at it from the front, it looks pretty solid.
10:22 Like it looks like it would only just be one piece.
10:24 And yet the figure does have an upper torso ball joint.
10:27 The figure has a lower torso ball joint as well.
10:29 Softer plastic once again is being used for Batman's lower trunks,
10:32 but the legs are splittable out.
10:34 They are on ratcheted joints after all.
10:36 You can take the legs and move them forward. You can move them back.
10:39 A swivel at the top of the thigh, a double hinge on the knee,
10:42 and again that completely overlooked point, the bat logos on the tops of his boots.
10:46 Did anyone even know that there were bat logos on the tops of Batman's boots?
10:50 Oh yeah, apparently the guy in the back who's holding his hand up.
10:53 Okay, you were the only one, sir.
10:55 For his ankles, they do move back and forth this way.
10:58 He does have an ankle pivot.
11:00 And Batman again does have toe articulation.
11:02 What's rather interesting is on the bottoms of his feet,
11:04 you can see it says UKCA, and of course there's the peg on the bottom,
11:08 the peg hole to attach onto a display stand.
11:10 Of course, again, this being a Batman and Robin wave, I had to look at Batman first.
11:14 Unfortunately, by looking at Batman first, it usually is the case
11:18 when it comes to these waves like this.
11:20 We don't get anything in the way of starting our build.
11:22 I think most of the time whenever we've looked at the main character from a figure wave,
11:26 it usually comes with arms, with legs.
11:29 There's always, of course, the tease that you have to buy other figures,
11:32 and usually what they end up doing is the main characters don't get the good accessories
11:36 or don't get to build the figure pieces.
11:38 The characters that maybe less likely people will be picking up
11:41 usually are the ones that come with the heads.
11:43 They come included with the torsos, for example.
11:45 All the incentive, of course, they're really in,
11:48 and to ensure that you're going to be buying the entire wave.
11:50 I did buy the entire wave, by the way, just an FYI,
11:52 so we will be looking at the rest of the Batman and Robin figures in upcoming reviews.
11:55 But I do like to look at this one.
11:57 I don't love the movie Batman and Robin.
11:59 It still is my least favorite of the Bat films.
12:01 But I didn't think that George Clooney was a bad Batman at all.
12:04 I just chalked it up more up to poor writing.
12:06 From a figure, it actually does look a lot like him.
12:09 The sculpting is good, and I do think, if anything, there's too much black on Batman's suit.
12:14 Again, me talking about Batman having too much black on his suit.
12:17 But I did think that it needed a little bit of blue to break up the black.
12:20 He has blue highlights in the movie.
12:22 Of course, the way the light hits it, and of course, all the media posters and photos of Batman's suit
12:26 all really resonate in the idea of having blue on that suit.
12:29 I wish that some of it would actually make its way to this plastic release of him.
12:33 As we now jump over to the rotisserie of Batman being displayed in its somewhat dynamic pose,
12:37 unfortunately, it would make him even more dynamic
12:40 if McFarlane's team could have included some sort of accessories,
12:42 and of course, the means to hold him, some gripping hands.
12:45 I was checking around my other tote bags,
12:47 just to see if there was something sitting inside those bags of extra accessories.
12:50 Maybe I could swap them out with another bat pair of hands,
12:53 and maybe then I could have Batman displayed with something other than just punching fists.
12:57 Still, I would prefer, if anything, punching fists than a stupid bat credit card.
13:02 But considering this is the Caped Crusader and all,
13:04 you would think that he'd have gadgets to wield,
13:06 and I'm trying to think of other things that he would have had in the movie.
13:08 He had those thermal bombs that, of course, he blows up Mr. Freeze's rocket with,
13:12 and then he uses those little heat guns to thaw off the Boy Wonder
13:16 and the rest of the citizens of Gotham City.
13:19 Speaking of accessories, by the way, even though he didn't come included with any,
13:22 he did have at least the starting legs for Mr. Freeze,
13:25 and those other things that I thought were shoulder pads,
13:28 now that I'm looking over at Batgirl, who gets packed along with Mr. Freeze's head and his shoulders,
13:33 I think these are actually supposed to be something that clips around his hands,
13:37 giving him sort of these weird kind of ice gloves.
13:40 Either way, though, I don't know if I'm going to be displaying any of these ice effects with Mr. Freeze.
13:44 Of course, time will only tell when we eventually get the cold-hearted villain together
13:48 whether I will end up using any of these extra things that come included with these Batman figures or not.
13:53 What do you guys think of George Clooney, though, as Batman?
13:55 I'm going to throw this out as a question to you, the viewing audience.
13:58 Do you think he was given the cold deal when it came to be portraying Batman?
14:02 I think, honestly, he's not a bad Batman at all.
14:05 His voice works for the Caped Crusader.
14:07 He certainly did do well, I thought, as a Bruce Wayne.
14:09 He just was unfortunately the result.
14:11 He was the victim of poor writing.
14:13 And that could be the thing.
14:14 Like, you could get a great actor coming in to play a role, but if you have terrible writing,
14:18 it doesn't matter at all who's underneath the cowl.
14:20 But what do you guys think, though, of George Clooney portraying Batman?
14:23 Let me know down below.
14:24 Good? Bad? You didn't really care? Either way, I certainly hope, though, you do care about the remaining reviews that we will be looking at.
14:30 Of course, coming up, we will be looking at Poison Ivy, Batgirl, and Robin the Boy Wonder.
14:34 Probably not in that particular order. I don't know.
14:36 We'll kind of - I'll see what figures make the most sense when it comes to building Mr. Freeze.
14:40 It could very well be Poison Ivy, because Poison Ivy has basically the torso.
14:44 And it can make some use of the legs that I've gotten so far.
14:47 Those videos will definitely be coming your way.
14:49 In the meantime, hey, if you guys enjoyed this video, why not hit it with a like?
14:52 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing, and you're on board to see the remaining reviews of the Mr. Freeze Build-A-Wave of Batman and Robin figures,
