00:04 new McFarlane toys the new adventures of Batman Batgirl and the Batgirl Platinum

00:11 a playboy billionaire by day Bruce Wayne's double life affords him the

00:36 comfort of a life without financial worry a loyal butler turned guardian and

00:39 the perfect base of operations in the ancient network of caves beneath the

00:42 family sprawling estate by night however he sheds all pretense dons his iconic

00:47 scalloped cape and pointed cowl and takes the shadowy streets skies and

00:50 rooftops of Gotham City incredibly detailed six-inch scale retro style

00:54 figures based on the new adventures of Batman designed with articulation with

00:57 up to 12 moving parts for retro play figured before we looked at a pair of

01:02 Batgirl figures I was gonna grab the tape measure and see how tall the

01:04 figures actually stand the platinum edition is basically using the same

01:07 body just using darker blacks and a lighter yellow both of them come to us

01:11 from the folks over at McFarlane toys and speaking of which I'd like to thank

01:13 the folks over at McFarlane to provide the sample get that all out to provide

01:17 the sample of the new adventures of Batman not only regular release Batgirl

01:20 but then the one that I'm currently blocking with my hand the platinum

01:23 edition as well both figures those stand about five and a half inches in height

01:26 or the figures are 14 centimeters tall oh and by the way this does complete now

01:31 the new adventures of Batman figures from the folks over at McFarlane toys

01:34 here's what backer looks like with the earlier looked at Caped Crusader Batman

01:36 there's also what she looks like with the boy Wonder Robin here's also what

01:40 backer looks like along with a very small unarticulated bat might then on

01:44 this side on the other side of backer oh but the variant edition here's what she

01:47 looks like with Commissioner Gordon the Joker one of my personal favorites from

01:51 this there's also what she looks like with the pink version of the Riddler

01:54 freeing up what's little left of space in the middle of the two here's also

01:58 what they look like with the 66 backer oh now this is actually based on the

02:02 comic book back girl now they are gonna be using a lot of the same molds it

02:05 looks to be the torso the arms and all the lower legs are gonna be shared

02:08 between the two some slight variations I think have been changed but mostly they

02:13 are using the same body they're also using the same accessories that came

02:16 included with this back row as well those accessories are a pair of bat

02:20 earrings and a pair of bat cuffs both the figures come in clue with a pair of

02:23 each although with both of them they were molded differently in different

02:26 plastic you can see that one that comes in clue with a platinum edition is gonna

02:29 be cast in black plastic while the one that matches of course the cowl and the

02:33 cape is gonna be molded here in blue plastic the back cuffs are gonna be

02:36 exactly the same to one another as I hold both of them I did also want to

02:39 bring in the one that we got here from the 66 back girl so you can see the

02:42 differences that yeah they're all gonna be the exact same mold they're just of

02:46 course molded in the coloring of plastic more to accurately match the colors of

02:50 their costumes they also do come in clue with tiny little batarangs I was

02:54 surprised in fact I didn't end up losing these tiny little batarangs and again

02:58 they happen to be using the exact same one that came included with again the

03:01 60s back girl just molded in again different colored plastics unfortunately

03:06 though one does one thing does carry over by using the same molds my same

03:09 complaint that I had really when looking at the Batman is that only one of the

03:13 figures hands have a gripping option which means when it comes to displaying

03:16 the figures you really only have the option of using one hand to either use

03:20 with the bat cuffs or the batarang you can't have both I think in a case like

03:24 this it would have been nice if they had retooled brand new hands at least on then

03:27 the other side so then you could have had the figure with gripping hands and

03:30 she would have had the means to hold accessories with both picking up though

03:34 one of the Batgirls just to put the bat bat cuffs inside her hand at least the

03:38 plastic for the grip is pretty soft so it's very easy in fact to actually get

03:41 the bat cuffs in there you can also do the exact same thing then with the

03:44 batarang just take that out put the batarang in her hand the batarang though

03:48 being as small as it is what I usually like to do is keep the middle part

03:51 resting against the thumb as it's less likely to fall out of her hand I don't

03:55 want to be jinxing myself by saying that as we are currently having this

03:59 Batgirl in hand while we get a closer look at her first now she is the

04:02 standard release the next one we'll be looking at still part of this review is

04:05 gonna be the platinum edition that swaps then the gray and the blue out for a

04:09 very dark blue and a very very dark black head sculpt on this one I think

04:13 looks a lot more like the original 70s cartoon if you are looking just to only

04:17 get the one that looks like the cartoon then this one really fits the bill

04:19 perfectly it doesn't have the painted in eyes well it does but the eyes are

04:24 painted much more darker black when we look at this one she's actually gonna

04:27 have bluer eyes but this one looks more like the original filmation cartoon I do

04:31 like the longer hair that they've given her also as well painted really nicely

04:34 I will say also in red and the cowl is paid painted a very nice pastel blue the

04:39 costume consists of mostly a light gray and then she got these nice yellow

04:43 accents that pop on this bringing back in the original 60s background so you

04:48 guys can see they are using yes the same torso same arms if anything you could

04:52 say the only thing that's different is the fact they had to resculpt a brand

04:55 new utility belt as the original one wouldn't have made any sense based on

04:58 the new adventures of Batman this one has pockets this one has the symbol in

05:01 the middle this one has actually just an outline symbol and it has instead of

05:05 pockets swapping it out for tiny little capsule containers other than that

05:09 though it looks to be the exact same figure right down to the actual boots

05:12 the boots look to be exactly the same and they also carry over one other

05:15 continued problem with using small feet like this both back girls have a real

05:19 tough time standing at least this one does have like the other back girl have

05:22 peg holes on the underside of her feet so yeah even though she doesn't have a

05:26 display stand accommodating her she does have at least the means that you could

05:29 use yourself a display stand like just happen to have one right here and just

05:32 attaches on the bottoms of her boots just like that so you can have the

05:36 figure display usually when it comes to figures that have really small feet like

05:39 this I venture right away to the idea of displaying the figures with the display

05:42 stands just because again I don't want to come down once one day one one day

05:46 down the stairs where all my collection happens to be and just notice the back

05:48 girls falling onto the floor now of course the one thing it also carries

05:52 over from the original back girl is the same pattern of cape the cape itself is

05:56 using a soft goods material I was really like the material that they use for the

05:59 capes unfortunately by the way they attach it they always end up being a

06:02 little boxy on the top I wish they were a little bit more fitted to the frame

06:05 but other than that it's a really nice material at least that they've used

06:08 original back girl would have had it then in yellow this new back girl has it

06:11 nicely in blue the articulation on this back girl does have a head swivel back

06:16 and forth you can take the arms and you can rotate them although I've really

06:19 noticed with the arms on this back girl they're really tight I guess tight

06:22 would be better than loose you just bring those arms out for it again forward

06:26 and back on the arms just really tight in the shoulders she has a single hinge

06:29 only in the elbow the arm does at least rotate back and forth and there's a

06:33 swivel in the hand right around the only other thing I would say as well is that

06:37 where they've actually painted the glove I feel like they've painted too much of

06:40 it see on the top there it's actually they put the hinge joint as being part

06:44 of the same yellow plastic so it does mean that the glove unfortunately

06:47 carries a little bit further than what it needed to do back early original

06:50 back girl also had that same problem where again like the sculpting of the

06:53 peg happens to be well again actually one thing if you bend the elbow on this

06:57 one you can see that she's got still a darker purple peg or hinge joint so it

07:01 does match the coloring of the top of the suit whereas this one they actually

07:04 use the same hinge joint in yellow so unfortunately it makes the gloves look a

07:07 little bit unrealistically long the figure does have a swivel like I said in

07:11 her hands you can't swivel her back and forth on the waist no splits again on

07:15 the legs on these but you can bring the legs forward and back she has a hinge

07:18 only on the lower leg it does allow at least the lower leg to rotate and she

07:22 has no articulation in the feet again nice-looking figure I think really

07:25 honestly if you were gonna be only just say if you only had the budget to get

07:28 one of the back girls from the new adventures of Batman I think if you want

07:31 the one that looks more like the cartoon get this one right here the platinum

07:34 edition does do things nicely but I feel like it's a figure that's painted in the

07:38 wrong way for this line picking her up right now getting a closer look at the

07:42 head sculpt right now I mean obviously this one has a lot more additional paint

07:46 that's been added to the eyes where now the pupils are painted in in blue

07:49 there's certainly a lot more life and personality in this one comparing really

07:53 the two picking up the two back girls up right now again I like the more

07:57 simplified look on her face especially if you want these on display looking

08:00 like the cartoon if anything I feel like the way they've painted this one would

08:04 have lent better to the idea of displaying the figure or having this

08:06 figure being released as a DC multiverse back girl where I think that that's a

08:10 head sculpt that would have really worked much much better for a seven inch

08:14 scale of course the rest of the bodies are gonna be exactly the same one thing

08:17 to note though is that the yellows are a much lighter yellow here and her of

08:21 course the colors to go with the black this one has a much warmer looking

08:25 yellow I like the yellow much more on this back girl than I do on this one the

08:28 yellow does certainly pop though with this one because of course it has the

08:31 backdrop of the black plastic the bodies are gonna be exactly the same though I

08:35 really do like the dark blue but I feel again like if I'm gonna be looking to

08:38 display this on the shelf as specifically specifically the new

08:41 adventures of Batman this back girl I feel in a way is too heavily painted

08:45 painted in a good way yes but I feel like it doesn't fit necessarily with the

08:49 scale and the vibe of having these on display as new adventures of Batman if

08:53 anything I feel like this head sculpt would have worked so much nicer for a DC

08:56 multiverse review or DC multiverse figure release but again like the cape

09:00 is gonna be exactly the same the pattern work is cut the exact same way so you've

09:03 got a little points down below and again I really like the material on this one

09:06 unlike the Batman we also looked at before I never had an issue really with

09:11 the tape either because the cape was a little bit shorter on Batgirl that they

09:14 really did have to fix the problems with having the capes taped down every single

09:18 time you tried to peel the tape away it ended up just destroying the end of the

09:21 cape back girl didn't have that because the cape was a little bit shorter again

09:25 you got some really nice painted boots in there as well the paint I think on

09:28 the lighter yellow there's a few little areas that it doesn't seem like it

09:31 covers completely you can see maybe a little bit of the black plastic

09:34 bleeding through but overall though it's a really nice back girl I just don't

09:37 think it fits well with a just the vibe that it's supposed to be for the new

09:40 adventures of Batman now again like the articulation can be exactly the same I

09:44 did notice though on this back girl that the head is gonna be a little bit on the

09:47 more looser side head hinges up and down again you can move it back and forth

09:50 swivel in the waist again yada yada yada all the same thing on the arms you can

09:54 bring the arms out forward and back hinge on the elbow all that fun stuff

09:58 that we've already tackled already no splits on the legs but again you can

10:01 bring the legs forward and back hinge swivel and that's it nice looking back

10:06 girl I mean again just for the fact that I'm saying that this is supposed to be

10:09 based more on the cartoon line makes me feel then I would lean more to getting

10:13 this figure solely if my budget only permitted me picking up one of these

10:16 back girls I do like the coloring on this one but I feel like the coloring

10:19 again works much better if they could only transfer some of the ideas that he

10:24 did with the platinum edition back row from new adventures of Batman if not

10:27 only just carrying over that color scheme and the way that they've actually

10:30 scoped the face to something we would have gotten instead with the DC

10:33 multiverse maybe classic edition back girl bringing back in again the Batman

10:38 figures we've already had a look at there's Batman there's again Robin I

10:40 know we've already brought these guys all back in but we're gonna bring them

10:42 back in again and again there's batmite really a nice looking wave there's still

10:47 opportunity I think there's still a lot of character territory to cover when it

10:51 comes to McFarland's team doing more of the new adventures of Batman the one I'm

10:54 really the most interested in is a clay face I do hope at some point we are

10:57 gonna be getting ourselves a clay face you know what why not we've got a little

11:00 bit space here also on the other side seeing as we have brought in the molds

11:03 before to show you that again they were using the molds again here's what again

11:07 what they look like with the 60s back girl yeah I really like this line again

11:11 like what the coloring on this one I just don't think it fits necessarily

11:14 with again the scope of this supposed to be like baby based on the old 70s

11:18 cartoon but I did think that they did a really good job of painting back girls

11:22 enough at least where one looks completely different from the other I

11:25 mean really to look at the heads and the way that they're painted looking at this

11:29 one it's hard to really believe that they're using the same head sculpt as

11:32 the standard relays back girl succeeding again back girl and poses like this

11:36 relied heavily on the idea of using display stands while unfortunately none

11:40 of the new back adventures of Batman figures come included with them you can

11:43 still easily use display stand that McFarland team have packed along with

11:46 other figures as the holes in the bombs their feats are universally sized holes

11:51 now when it comes to certainly displaying these figures I think I might

11:54 just end up displaying the blue cowl or let me just rephrase that because

11:58 obviously they're both blue cowl the darker blue cowl black outfit back girl

12:02 I might just end up displaying separately I do really like the look of

12:05 it but I feel it stands out so much when you have the figure displayed with the

12:08 rest of the new adventures of Batman sticking I think with more the classic

12:12 look of back girl in the lighter gray the yellow and the pastel blue I think

12:15 work works much better for the new adventures of Batman but don't think

12:19 that just because of that I'm gonna be putting the other one away it's a really

12:22 too nice of a head sculpt really well painted by McFarland's team to be

12:25 putting back in a bag somewhere she is definitely gonna be displayed I just

12:29 don't think by the color palette that they went with that she's gonna be

12:32 displayed with the other new adventures of Batman of the two figures which one
