00:00 What's up GQ?
00:01 It's Mikkel Bridges here, and these are my essentials.
00:04 [upbeat music]
00:06 I'm a pretty simple dude.
00:11 You know, you wear Forces, they go with anything.
00:13 I was looking for a black pair, so I got the Tiffany's.
00:16 These are probably the two shoes I probably wear the most.
00:19 You wearing all black pair of Forces is kind of crazy.
00:21 It's just big demon time, and all black is,
00:24 I don't even feel comfortable wearing it.
00:26 I don't even feel right wearing it.
00:28 [upbeat music]
00:31 I got this bag in the finals when I was with Phoenix
00:35 years ago.
00:36 You see the NBA, you see the logo.
00:38 You can't just go buy it, you know?
00:39 You gotta be in the finals to get this bag.
00:41 So everybody sees it, it's like, where'd you get it from?
00:43 And everybody make jokes, say, oh, you got money,
00:46 you bought this, I'm like, oh no, it's free, it's free 99.
00:48 I'll always remember that year.
00:50 It's not every day where you make it to the finals,
00:52 and that experience was really dope for me.
00:54 Obviously we didn't win, but yeah, like I said,
00:55 I just keep everything in here.
00:57 I hate having things in my pockets.
00:59 Keep my keys in here.
01:00 Usually have my brush and everything else in here.
01:03 Got deodorant in here.
01:04 Got a spare iPhone charger.
01:06 Maybe I need it, like maybe I need it.
01:08 Got my comb, got chapstick, Aquaphor.
01:11 Pretty much it.
01:13 [upbeat music]
01:16 Thanks.
01:17 Some Bose headphones.
01:18 Probably one of the best headphones I've had,
01:20 just with noise cancellation.
01:22 Makes life easier.
01:23 I'll go with my music.
01:24 I'm all different types of genres.
01:26 It's actually hilarious 'cause my mom thinks
01:28 I got a lot of old soul in me that she didn't know.
01:31 My music before game is probably pretty much all calm music.
01:35 Some people like being all hyped up and all that stuff.
01:37 I'm more relaxed 'cause I know when the game starts,
01:40 I'm gonna be all teed up.
01:41 Even when I play Drake, I play a lot of his slow music
01:43 before the games.
01:44 Like I got some Brent Faiyaz that I play before the game
01:47 that I love.
01:48 Got some Amy Winehouse in here.
01:49 Some Young Thug in there.
01:51 Kim.
01:51 One of my favorite songs that I play all the time,
01:53 Love Calls, "Fire."
01:54 And The Woman's Work by Katie Bush and then Maxwell.
01:58 So I play those and it's kind of like really, really calm.
02:01 But for some reason, it just gets me in the right state
02:03 and gets me ready for the game.
02:04 [upbeat music]
02:07 All right, next item, my Poga.
02:09 This travel monitor that you put your game system in.
02:12 Let me give you a little sneak peek.
02:14 [grunts]
02:16 Simple though, simple.
02:19 You got the PS5 in here.
02:20 Got the monitor right here.
02:22 There's one cord, just plug it in the wall
02:24 and it turns right on, it's that simple.
02:25 I like my video game, my game.
02:27 Me and my boys play Madden a lot.
02:29 Just having this on the road is a much needed thing.
02:32 Put my teammates on, couple of my teammates on
02:35 to where now they got their little Pogas.
02:36 Everybody in the league loves playing the game,
02:38 so it's make it easier for them to travel.
02:40 Up next is my dog, my boy Sonny.
02:45 Eight years old, lab and like golden mix.
02:48 A goofy dude, but he really chills.
02:50 He's a good dog, man.
02:52 Just having my dog with me and just coming back home,
02:54 either it's a good or bad game.
02:55 I always see him, I know he's always happy,
02:57 so it's just, that's my boy.
02:59 He's very socially awkward.
03:01 And if you kind of know me, I'm low-key the same.
03:03 I can be kind of awkward a little bit.
03:05 I think the life that I live kind of puts you
03:07 in this little bubble.
03:08 Like I'm outgoing, but I can also be to myself
03:10 and I can get socially awkward sometimes.
03:12 That's what I love about him,
03:13 but he loves being around other dogs.
03:15 Like he loves being around them.
03:16 Like he'll pull me or like seeing other dogs,
03:19 he'd be so hyped.
03:20 But then like when I like let him off the leash,
03:22 he's around these dogs, doesn't know how to play.
03:23 You know what I'm saying?
03:24 He just starts barking just in their face.
03:26 Some of these dogs are just like, bro, like back up.
03:30 Yo, you're not gonna get no friends
03:31 just barking at them, bro.
03:32 Like you gotta approach them a different way.
03:34 So I don't know what his issue is with that,
03:36 but I'm trying to help him.
03:38 So I keep bringing him parks and stuff
03:40 and let go of that little awkwardness,
03:42 but I think it's him.
03:43 I think that's just who he is.
03:44 I think I just got to more embrace it
03:45 than try and change him, you know?
03:47 So I got my watches.
03:50 I got two Rollies.
03:51 I got one on now.
03:53 So they call this basically the Batman.
03:56 I think it's a Jubilee band.
03:58 Hope my agent don't get mad
03:59 'cause I know he'd be upset if I say the wrong band.
04:01 So I think it's technically called the Batgirl now
04:03 just because of the band and switch.
04:04 Dope, told you the time.
04:06 This is my first one.
04:08 This is called the Day-Date and I love it.
04:11 Just green face.
04:12 It's a different band 'cause I wanted,
04:14 like if I had two different watches,
04:15 I wanted two different bands
04:17 so it could be a little different.
04:18 Little bit heavier, but this one's probably,
04:20 is a more everyday watch.
04:22 This is probably my favorite one
04:23 and you see the nice Rolly look at it
04:25 and people that know watches will know like,
04:27 oh, that's a dope ass watch.
04:29 Chipotle.
04:31 I eat this every day and it's been about,
04:34 how many years since I've been eating Chipotle?
04:36 Since 2013, '14, so about 10 years.
04:39 Still been on it heavy to this day.
04:41 I have friends and family
04:43 that teases me a little bit about it.
04:44 It's too fire to not have it every single time
04:47 so it'll disappoint.
04:50 I love to take a bite.
04:51 Okay, fire.
04:55 So my bowl order, I get white rice, no beans,
04:58 double chicken, medium and mild salsa, corn and lettuce.
05:02 Oh, I used to get the hot salsa.
05:04 I don't know if y'all know that hot salsa.
05:05 I don't know what they did to it
05:06 in this past couple of years, but I'll just take one bite.
05:09 I'll just be like, just chugging water
05:11 and it still ain't helping.
05:12 It'll just be like painful eating a bowl.
05:14 I felt soft because I love spicy food
05:16 and I'm just like, bro, I've been eating this hot sauce
05:17 for all these years.
05:18 Rest in peace to the hot salsa.
05:20 All right, next, we got the HyperVolt.
05:24 This is for recovery.
05:25 Just a little thing to have at home.
05:27 Just a little device to have
05:29 if I'm freaking hurting at night or something like that.
05:31 I always have this just for like 10, 15 minutes
05:34 if there's one spot that's aggravating me a little bit.
05:37 I just keep it on me and keep me right.
05:39 I don't have great vision.
05:43 I take my contacts out at night when I'm laying in bed
05:45 and usually the TV is very far away from my bed
05:48 so I can't really see.
05:49 So now I got my iPad, it's right there.
05:51 Keep it next to me when I'm in bed,
05:53 watch whatever I need and go right to sleep.
05:55 I've been lacking on movies and TV shows lately.
05:59 So I'm either watching basketball
06:01 or I'm on Twitch or something.
06:02 On Twitch was RDC, they're hilarious.
06:05 Swag, Faze Swag, he moved to YouTube.
06:07 So I watch him on YouTube on app.
06:09 My guy Exposed, his name's Cody.
06:11 He gambles and I gamble a little bit on football
06:15 and stuff like that.
06:16 Hilarious, hilarious content.
06:18 [upbeat music]
06:20 All right, got my heavy ball right here.
06:25 Handle life, very, very, very, very, very important.
06:29 Just using it when I warm up and practice in the games.
06:32 Just gets my handle tighter, my jump shot faster, smoother.
06:35 It does wonders.
06:37 I love New York, I love living in New York,
06:39 being in New York, playing in New York.
06:41 I wanted to get drafted in New York
06:42 when I was coming out in pre-draft
06:44 'cause I wanted to live in the city.
06:45 So it's kind of dope that I am now.
06:47 But yeah, it's real cool.
06:49 My dog loves it.
06:50 Walk him every day, he sees a lot of people.
06:52 It just makes his day too.
06:53 So it's definitely great.
06:55 [upbeat music]
06:57 Thank you GQ.
06:59 Thank you everybody for watching.
07:00 These are my essentials.
07:02 Hopefully I see you guys at the next game.
