00:00Smells like greatness.
00:07What's up GQ?
00:09This is Tyrese Maxxie and these are my 10 essentials.
00:19For my first essential item, you know, I have a great partnership with New Balance out today.
00:24They've been great.
00:25I'm going to have a pair of Hesi Low 2s, shoes that I'll be wearing in the game this year.
00:30Everybody kind of knows me for the P's, for the ones I did for my twin nieces last year.
00:35One pink, one purple.
00:36They love pink and they love purple.
00:38So it'll be a lot of different colorways that'll get released.
00:40It'll be a little fun partnership that we do with New Balance.
00:43Some of my favorite New Balance to wear off the court are 1906s.
00:47Those are a very comfortable style shoe.
00:50It's a very good look.
00:51I think I like the 1000s.
00:53I wore those at Universal, at Disney, and then I wore them going out and just going
01:01on dates and dinner.
01:02I mean, a lot of different things that I wore the 1000s with.
01:04My last pair that I can give you are the 480s.
01:08Love those shoes, man.
01:09Extremely comfortable, extremely clean.
01:12That's a very good collaboration that New Balance did.
01:16Next item, I have a Spiderman sweatshirt that I really do like.
01:21This sweatshirt is sentimental to me because Spiderman is my favorite superhero character
01:25of all time.
01:26What we have in common is I'm a happy person.
01:29I feel like all of the Spidermans have been a happy person.
01:32When I say Spiderman, I use the identity of Peter Parker.
01:35I think Tom Holland is the best Spiderman, especially because he's able to look very,
01:41very young.
01:42And you can kind of tell that he's in high school.
01:45But I feel like Tobey, he's OG Spiderman.
01:49So it's just like, I think a lot of Spiderman fans will have that natural love for him just
01:55because he was the first, especially around my era.
01:58So I would have to go with him.
02:01Some more essentials of mine.
02:03Number one, love sweet tea.
02:05I'm from the South and my mother used to always think that Sundays when we would go to places
02:12like Babes and Cracker Barrel, every meal on a Sunday is not complete unless you have
02:19sweet tea.
02:20So sweet tea is my go-to drink of choice.
02:24And then I have my wonderful goldfish.
02:26Shout out to the snack that smiles back.
02:29Lastly, I'm not going to lie, I'm going to open this and probably eat some of these.
02:33But these are my favorite fruit snacks of all time.
02:36You know, I used to tell people in high school, if you want to buy me a gift, just buy me
02:40a pack of Welch's.
02:41I am going to eat a few of these because I am starving.
02:44So shout out to Welch's.
02:45I take my hand like this, I dump all of them out.
02:54Once all of them are dumped out, I make sure I look and make sure there's no grape in there.
02:59I put the grape to the side like that, and I go like this.
03:05But no grape.
03:06We're not eating grapefruit snacks, that's disgusting.
03:10My next essential is my very nice and beautiful Dibadoon.
03:19I love this watch, man.
03:21Great watch.
03:22It kind of goes with everything.
03:23I love the leather band.
03:24I can wear it.
03:25It's sporty.
03:26I can dress it up.
03:27A lot of people have stopped and said, hey, where'd you get that watch from?
03:30What brand is that watch?
03:31Dibadoon.
03:32They don't know what it is, then they go look it up, and now, you know, they're another
03:35fan of the watch.
03:36So I have both of these watches.
03:37I'm able to switch out the wristbands and switch out the watches, and they're pretty
03:41cool.
03:42So shout out to Dibadoon.
03:44Another essential of mine, sadly, I'm not allowed to take these on the road, probably
03:49because everybody will be scared of them.
03:51Everybody knows Apollo, who is my firstborn, the big one right here.
03:57And now I have the baby girl, Ari.
04:00I refer to my dogs as my kids, just because I love them so much, and they mean a lot to
04:04me.
04:06Apollo won because I always wanted a dog of my own, and the main reason why I got him
04:10is just because I was coming home my rookie year, didn't play as much as I really wanted
04:14to, and I just wanted somebody, you know, a friend.
04:17And my dog never judged me, you know what I'm saying?
04:20If I didn't play, if I played good, if I played bad, he was always happy to see me, and it
04:24always made me happy.
04:25And now Ari, she's a great addition to the family.
04:29She's a little bit different than Apollo.
04:30You know, she's a girl, so I had to treat her a little bit different, a little bit softer
04:33than my son, but it's been great.
04:35You know, even if the league would allow pets, I just don't think my kids would be allowed
04:40on the plane.
04:41I mean, a lot of people would probably get off that plane.
04:43A lot of people that we need on that plane, probably Joel and Beez.
04:46He has, like, little, you know, cute dogs.
04:48I have real dogs, so shout out to my kids again.
04:54This is important to me.
04:55These keys right here to my new Lambo year's truck.
05:00That car is important to me because I talked to Paul George on a podcast after I signed
05:04my extension with the Sixers, and I didn't know what to get myself yet.
05:08I was just, you know, just chilling, and he made a statement that every time he signed
05:12a new contract, he got a new Ferrari.
05:14And I always say, like, once I get my, you know, once I get an extension, I'm going to
05:18get a Lambo truck.
05:19As soon as I heard that, I wear these bracelets of mine every single day, no matter what the
05:27situation is.
05:28The top one here says 1% Better.
05:31My dad was the first one to preach it to me, and the reason why he said it was because,
05:35like, hey, listen, you want to be as good as the, you know, the top of the players in
05:38the league that you like, you got to find ways to get 1% better every single day.
05:42Being someone who's always trying to crack jokes, I'm like, what happens after the 100th
05:45day and I'm 100% better?
05:47I had to stop looking at it like that.
05:48I looked at it as, you know, the sky's the limit, and there is no percent.
05:52There is no 100%.
05:53It just goes and goes and goes until you're done playing.
05:56Now I find ways to get 1% better every single day, and, you know, that's just kind of the
06:00way I live with life and live on the basketball court.
06:03This one says L&D.
06:04I know you're probably reading backwards right now.
06:07L&D stands for Leave No Doubt, another saying that my dad gave me.
06:11And this was in high school.
06:12You know, I used to be upset because I felt like I was better than a lot of players that
06:16were ranked higher than me.
06:17And he said, hey, listen, if you think you're better than them, then you have to leave no
06:21doubt.
06:22Whoever you're playing against, you have to leave no doubt that you're the best player
06:24on the floor.
06:25So now, you know, I wear it just as a reminder, hey, leave no doubt that, one, God always
06:30has me.
06:31My parents always has me.
06:32And, two, I'm going out here to leave no doubt that I'm the best player on the floor or I'm
06:35the best possible version of myself and have one goal in mind, and that's to win.
06:39Then my last one right here is really hard to read because it's a little faded, but,
06:44you know, I really do like it.
06:45It reads Long Live Mimi.
06:47So LLMM.
06:48This one is extremely important to me for two reasons.
06:51One, because my grandmother and my dad's mom who passed away, her name was Mimi, and she
06:56wasn't able to see me get drafted.
06:58That was sad for me because she was basically someone who raised me.
07:00Mimi, she was just someone who was always around.
07:02She lived in the house with us.
07:04She always taught me to be a positive person and bring light into people's lives and don't
07:08bring negativity and always bring positivity.
07:10So now, every single time I step on the court, every single time I meet somebody, I'm always
07:14trying to brighten their day, and that's where I got that from.
07:17So shout outs to Mimi.
07:18I love wearing this because, you know, she's always with me.
07:21And also, Myra made me this, and, you know, I'm trying to get her to make me a new one,
07:25but we'll see.
07:29This bag is very essential to me because it was a gift from my mother.
07:32I was listening to Lil Baby talk about how he used to pack his go-yard in a song, and
07:36once my mom heard that, she bought me one.
07:40So this bag is very essential to me.
07:42I take it everywhere with me.
07:44It has all the essentials in it, as far as handy-dandy brush.
07:50Ever since I have decided to change my hairstyle and get braids, I walk around with this brush
07:57all the time, and my uncle says I need to stop using it because he says I will brush
08:02my hair off.
08:03But, you know, I always use it.
08:06You know, I'm always walking around with it just to make sure I look great.
08:09Dove deodorant.
08:10I always need this.
08:13Make you smell nice and clean.
08:15I have my Colgate toothpaste.
08:18Everybody knows I like to smile a lot, so this toothpaste keeps my teeth nice and white.
08:24And my Colgate toothbrush.
08:25So those go hand-in-hand, and that kind of just speaks for itself.
08:30And that's pretty much it.
08:31That's in my nice travel bag that my mom got me.
08:38My next essential are my pajamas.
08:41Can't go anywhere without these, especially not traveling.
08:44My teammates always make fun of me because I come down for shoot-around or film or walk-through
08:50in my pajamas.
08:51Normally, my pajamas come from my grandmother, my nana, so she has my back when I have my
08:54pajamas on.
08:55And when you see me walking around in my pajamas or any pictures of my pajamas, just know,
09:00hey, I'm comfortable, I'm calm, and I'm ready to go.
09:06The reason why I end up buying this bag is because I said, hey, I'm going to be an all-star
09:12this year, and I'm going to reward myself early.
09:14I got this bag.
09:15Sometimes you got to speak things into existence, and that's why this bag is special to me.
09:20And I'll take it everywhere I go.
09:22Every single time I travel, I have this bag with me, no matter what the occasion is.
09:26So this bag is very, very sentimental to me, and I will have it forever.
09:31If the handles fall off, that's fine, but I'll still have this bag forever, just because
09:35it'll remind me of being an all-star for the first time, and that was amazing.
09:39I worked extremely hard to get to where I am today, especially coming from someone who
09:44felt like they were overlooked in the draft at 21.
09:47Thankfully, the Sixers picked me up, was on the winning team, was able to play in meaningful
09:51games, and I think all of that did wonders for me.
09:54Had great vets.
09:55Shout-out to James, man.
09:56Shout-out to Joe.
09:57Shout-out to a lot of guys.
09:58Tobias, Danny Green, I can go on and on and on all day.
10:01Doc Rivers, Sam Cassell, I very much appreciate them, because without them, there is no me
10:07right here, right now.
10:08Like Tyrese Maxey, who I am today, and a lot of hard work, and shout-out to my people.
