00:00 Have you ever met a sociopath, psychopath,
00:03 narcissist or dark empath before?
00:06 Well, this video could be the ultimate duel
00:08 between super characters to determine
00:10 who wins the title of most harmful.
00:13 These personality disorders have dark traits
00:16 or characteristics that make them dangerous
00:18 to the people around them in varying degrees.
00:21 Some personalities are more aggressive than others.
00:24 Some conceal themselves better than others.
00:26 But what they all have in common
00:27 is their manipulative traits.
00:29 While they all manipulate people to get what they want,
00:32 each has their unique way and reason behind why they do it.
00:36 So let's explore each dark personality type briefly
00:39 before going into which one could be the most harmful
00:42 to your mental health.
00:44 Number one, sociopaths.
00:46 Hailing from the spectrum
00:48 of antisocial personality disorder,
00:50 which by the way is not just preferring pizza over people
00:53 and weighing in with a weak conscience
00:55 coupled with a weak sense of empathy,
00:57 we have the sociopath.
01:00 They know they're wrong yet find justifications
01:02 instead of being good.
01:04 Sociopathy is characterized by, but not limited to,
01:07 clearly don't care how others feel,
01:09 attachment issues, unpredictable, hot-tempered behavior.
01:13 Their low empathy and weak conscience
01:15 makes lying and disregarding others
01:17 in pursuit of their own needs easier.
01:20 When confronted with consequences of their actions,
01:23 they react negatively
01:24 by showing spitefulness and recklessness.
01:26 Sociopathy is a chronic condition
01:29 that can be acquired by harsh family dynamics,
01:31 such as parental instability or sexual abuse.
01:35 Let's look at our next contender, psychopaths.
01:38 Also hailing from the spectrum
01:40 of antisocial personality disorder
01:42 and weighing in with zero empathy is the psychopath.
01:46 Any outward justification for their actions
01:48 is for performative purposes only.
01:50 Psychopathy does have some different specs
01:52 from its brethren, sociopathy.
01:55 Where the sociopath is an erratic volcano,
01:58 the psychopath is a silent, black, frozen abyss, brr.
02:03 The sociopath will show they don't care,
02:06 but the psychopath will convince you they do
02:08 when they really don't.
02:09 Spotting a sociopath is easy.
02:11 A psychopath makes it a point to appear
02:14 as normal as possible while hiding in plain sight.
02:17 The pros say that to diagnose a sociopath,
02:20 look for what's showing on the outside.
02:22 To diagnose a psychopath,
02:24 it's much more based on what's happening on the inside
02:26 and why.
02:28 Psychopathic qualities like recklessness and aggressiveness
02:31 are caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain,
02:34 not upbringing.
02:35 One of their weapons
02:36 is a non-automatic emotional response to others.
02:39 They can choose to understand how someone feels
02:42 if it benefits them.
02:44 While they, like sociopaths, are not necessarily violent,
02:48 they lack the regular restraints
02:49 and protections of empathy and conscience
02:52 to prevent them from becoming violent.
02:55 Number three, narcissists.
02:57 The narcissist is the diva with the most ego.
03:00 They believe everything is about and for them.
03:03 But snarking, you're such a narcissist.
03:06 When someone acts kinda douchey,
03:08 doesn't mean they have the disorder.
03:10 To a true narcissist, confidence, limits,
03:13 and basic affection are now self-superiority,
03:16 self-entitlement, and the expectation of praise
03:19 and servitude.
03:20 In their minds, they get extra because they are extra.
03:24 Everyone else is a tool, toy, or toaster
03:26 to be used until they're no benefit to the narcissist.
03:29 Then they're discarded.
03:31 According to one clinically confirmed case,
03:34 narcissism is self-defense
03:36 in the pursuit of four primary goals,
03:39 fuel, control, character traits, and residual advantages.
03:44 The fuel is whatever emotion they can evoke from you.
03:48 Emotion vampires, narcissists savor every ounce.
03:52 They enjoy having control over how you feel.
03:55 They steal character traits,
03:56 co-opting aspects of another person
03:59 and passing them off as their own.
04:00 Money, sex, and contacts are all residual benefits
04:03 from their supply.
04:05 This exploitative behavior stems from childhood trauma.
04:09 It could have been formed by being smothered in protection
04:11 and placed on a pedestal
04:13 or by being in an unstable environment.
04:16 And now, the surprising fourth, dark empaths.
04:20 This term introduced in a 2021 study
04:23 marks this contestant as a yet untested newcomer.
04:27 In this study, it was discovered
04:29 that these people tend to score high on empathy,
04:31 but also high on dark triad traits,
04:34 like narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy.
04:38 The dark empath could be described
04:40 as a black mirror version of ourselves.
04:42 They have everything the other personalities lack,
04:45 especially empathy.
04:46 Yes, empathy.
04:48 But the dark empath's empathy is cognitive only.
04:52 Empathy means if you hurt, I hurt.
04:55 The dark empath's cognitive empathy
04:56 means they fully understand the pain they cause.
05:00 They just don't feel it.
05:01 Even if they've been directly hurt in the past,
05:04 they intuitively get how others work and feel.
05:08 So like a thief with all the blueprints and passwords,
05:11 their manipulations are devastating.
05:14 For them, with great power comes great wrongness.
05:18 There's the bell to the round,
05:20 and the disorder that wins the title
05:22 of most harmful to your mental health is, honestly,
05:26 between the psychopath and the dark empath, it's a toss-up.
05:29 Or is it?
05:31 The psychopath has the zero empathy attack.
05:33 They have no restraints of conscious or empathy
05:35 and take advantage of others without remorse.
05:38 They relax your defenses by acting outwardly normal.
05:42 That's dangerous.
05:44 What about the dark empath then?
05:46 This could be the most dangerous personality type
05:48 because the dark empath can intuit,
05:51 as opposed to study, what other people are feeling.
05:54 This makes accurate manipulation far easier for them.
05:58 If you don't believe dark empaths are a thing,
06:02 the singular type of personality that is most dangerous
06:05 would be the psychopath, who is unshackled by conscience.
06:08 However, if you believe that the dark empath
06:11 is an entity unto itself, then this is the winner.
06:15 Beware their machinations,
06:17 as they have the ability to tune in
06:19 and focus attack through empathy.
06:22 Comment down below with your thoughts
06:23 on which is the most harmful and why you believe it is so.
06:27 Always remember too, that despite these personalities
06:30 being a psychological phenomenon,
06:32 which may or may not be conscious choices,
06:35 if you are the target,
06:36 you are never under any obligation to accept abuse.
06:40 Stay safe and we'll see you soon.
