00:00 I am delighted to be here today to launch the International Green Tech and Eco-Products
00:17 Exhibition and Conference Malaysia or IGEM 2023.
00:22 We are very grateful to have in our midst today climate exchange leaders and visionaries
00:30 assembled here at IGEM 2023 with the theme "Race towards Net Zero - Leadership for Climate
00:39 Action".
00:40 IGEM 2023 is seamlessly integrating exhibitors that demonstrate game-changing technology,
00:48 hosting insightful conferences, business matching sessions with participation from leading countries,
00:56 high-profile visitors and several concurrent site events into a singular platform.
01:03 Without a doubt, IGEM 2023 will play a decisive leadership role in accelerating and delivering
01:10 the region's net zero and just energy transition agenda.
01:16 In addition to the domestic transition, we are also taking on a regional role with the
01:23 implementation of initiatives under the recently unveiled National Energy Transition Roadmap
01:29 or NETR and the Hydrogen Economy and Technology Roadmap, HETR.
01:36 Malaysia is said to be at the forefront of becoming a regional leader in the energy transition
01:42 and renewable energy industry.
01:45 The implementation of NETR with its six energy transition levers and five enablers is expected
01:52 to uplift Malaysia's GDP value from RM25 billion in 2023 to RM220 billion and generate 310,000
02:03 jobs in 2050.
02:06 While the successful implementation of the HETR is poised to enable Malaysia to tap into
02:11 the global green hydrogen market, estimated to be worth at least US$189.19 billion, which
02:21 is equivalent to RM829 billion by 2050.
02:26 HETR implementation alone is anticipated to have prospects of generating up to RM12.1
02:34 billion in revenue with an estimated contribution of between RM49 billion and RM69 billion to
02:43 gross domestic product by 2030, generating over 45,000 job opportunities over the same
02:51 period.
