00:00The purpose of this event is to celebrate another important event in the history of
00:10DHL Express Malaysia.
00:11This new facility is three times larger and can handle four times more shipments than
00:20the previous premise.
00:22Through this new facility, we are more capable to support micro, small and medium-sized
00:32industries as well as multinational companies in import and export activities in Malaysia.
00:37In addition, we can also contribute to the improvement of cross-border trade.
00:46I am pleased to announce that KL Gateway is the largest investment by DHL Express in
00:54Malaysia so far.
01:00Built with a cost of RM300 million, it is the first gateway facility for DHL Express
01:08in Southeast Asia, which is fully equipped with an automated sourcing system.
01:14This infrastructure is designed to process up to 10,000 shipments per hour,
01:20while speeding up the transit and delivery time.
01:25Ladies and Gentlemen,
01:27During the planning of KL Gateway in 2019,
01:32we have set a goal to base the Malaysian population as the main player in the logistics
01:40of the year.
01:42With a commitment to strengthen the role of the country in global trade,
01:47together with four other gateways that form our local network,
01:53this facility enables a smooth connection with the main world trade routes,
02:00including the US, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Germany and the United Kingdom.
02:09It represents a critical component in our international network spanning more than 220 countries
02:17and regions.
02:19The construction of this facility came at the right time in the middle of the bright
02:25trade prospects for Malaysia.
02:28KL Gateway is the main source of our trade operations in the central region of Malaysia.
02:34Kuala Lumpur and Selangor collectively contribute RM3.3 billion in export value
02:42and RM7 billion in import value as of August this year.
02:48Malaysia is the main player in the electrical and electronic manufacturing sector
02:55and the transition of the industry to the omni-sourcing trend is expected to boost
03:00the continued growth.
03:03I am confident that there are some of you here who can agree with me that our country
03:10has become the main destination for multinational companies that want to diversify their supply
03:17sources.
03:19This is where the logistics ecosystem that is growing rapidly is needed to realize
03:25the potential of the industry.
03:27The trajectory of trade continues to show an increase, especially for the Asian region
03:33which has a population of 680 million and a total GDP of US$3.3 trillion.
03:44KL Gateway represents our commitment as a facilitator to our customers to penetrate
03:51the Malaysian and foreign markets.
03:54In addition to the operational flexibility, I am pleased to share that this facility
04:00is recognized as a Class A, which is recognized as a Transported Asset Protection Asset.
04:08This facility is also recognized with the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism
04:14or known as CTPAT.
04:17We are also proud because this facility conforms the DHL Group as a Carbon Neutral building.
04:27The result is that this facility achieves LEED certification or is known as Leadership
04:33in Energy and Environmental Design, which is the green building development system
04:39that is used the most in the world.
04:42The large investment that has been made in this facility reflects our continued efforts
04:47to improve the quality of service.
04:50It also shows our confidence in the potential of Malaysia, which is growing rapidly
04:56and becoming a hub of global logistics and digital economy.
05:04The success of this project can of course be achieved through the collaboration
05:08of various parties, including government agencies, local authorities and private companies.
05:16No matter how perfect the existing infrastructure is, we believe that the logistics sector
05:23will continue to grow as long as we all work together.
