Never Learned Anything (Poem with Music)

Lyrics:

Never Learned Anything

He was always the screwup and his parents were wiping their hands
For the screwup his respectable parents were always wiping their hands
They didn’t know what to do with him and let him make his own mistakes
The infinite gap between them constantly grows and expands
He never learned anything and didn’t understand any commands

He partied on the street and could be heard yelling
The foreign city walkers blankly looked at him
They shake their hands and try to waddle past
He calls out to every husband saying take me home Tim
The windows shut up above trying to blockout the cries
They don’t appreciate that he needs them all to know who he is
He’s verbally tattooed his name there as if its his eponym
He never learned anything and was always the loud one

Once he took it a little too far and got booked
They placed him in a hole and gave him a number
The system was molding him into something new
There’s not much more out there that’s dumber
If you punch a bag a thousand times you only get a callus
Repeat the process and be ready for the same result
They could only make sure his growth was to encumber
He never learned anything much less his lesson

He came out different the air blew in desperation
He didn’t know how to be funny any longer
His tongue went the way of his sobriety
He was fully hooked up to the city sewer system
He desperately pleas to the one he called a fishmonger
They’ve got no way to communicate with him
And ask him to come back when he feels a little stronger
He never learned anything not even his place

When his parents were asked about him they whispered
As if saying it in a hushed tone would keep it quiet
Truth is they’d lost touch and cut him out of
Both the will and the family photos
The thought of their failure caused an internal riot
Because he’d dosed up just a little too much
His heart got too excited at what he’d supplied it
Dead at twenty-seven he never really learned anything
