Hello today I want to talk about what is the best way to prepare to be an affiliate marketer? The answer is going to be the same regardless of whatever career path you want to choose.
Say you wanted to be a professional car salesman for example. What would you do to sale cars? What I would do is find the best car salesman and do whatever I could to learn how he did it.
Joe Girard won the Guinness book of world records for selling cars. He would be someone I would want to learn from when it came to selling cars.
You want to learn from someone who walks the walk. There really are 3 things I look at when it comes to a mentor.
How long have they been doing something. Time is the ultimate bullshit detector right? Only time will tell if something will work or not. This is why old wives tales usually are right because they stood the test of time.
Experience really does mean something. The longer someone has been doing something the more mistakes they made and more lessons they learned. You can only be truly good at something if you put in the time.
The longer someone has done something the better. The second thing to look at is results. Yea, results talk. One interesting thing about results and I got this from copy writing lessons is to use exact numbers. Exact numbers don't seem like bullshit while numbers like I made $10,000 this month it sounds like it could be fabricated.
The third thing you can look at is what results other people have gotten. After you find someone to learn from then this can be the hardest part.
Learn from the person and do what they say. We humans are stubborn right? Do I do everything my mentor tells me to do, heck no. If I did I probably would make more money.
I was watching a video of Gary Vee and he was telling this story of his friend who owns the Miami Dolphins football team.
The owner wanted to help Gary and he still said no. We humans have pride and it can be our downfall. Just learning from the right person and taking action is the best way to prepare to be an affiliate marketer.
You need both. You need the right education and you need to take action. I used to think that I could figure everything out on my own. I was going to be 100% self made.
This is a big mistake. I wasted so much time, energy and money. It's much easier to just learn from someone better than you.
