Tomato Rasam is a traditional south Indian soup. In this video, we showed the step by step process to prepare Tomato Rasam with homemade ingredient paste. Very healthy recipe. You can have it as a soup or have it with rice.
INGREDIENTS:
Tomatoes - 1/4kg
Split Pigeon Pease - 2 Tsp
Black Pepper- 1 Tsp
Coriander Seeds - 2 Tsp
Cumin Seeds -1 Tsp
Fenugreek Seeds
Tamarind - Soaked
Green Chillies- 4-5
FOR TEMPERING:
Oil - 1 Tsp
Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Cumin Seeds - 1/4 tsp
Curry Leaves
Dry Red Chillies - 2
Asafoetida - 1 pinch
Turmeric Powder- 1/4 Tsp
Dry Red Chillies -
Method
1. Take 2tsp Split Pigeon Peas, Black Pepper, Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds in a pan, Fenugreek Seeds, let's dry roast it.
2. In the tomatoes, add soaked tamarind, Green Chillies and boil it.
3. Once masala powder has cool down, let's grind it into powder.
4. Next, add tomatoes in the mixer, let's make pure
5. Starin the puree in the strainer.
6. To the rasam, add the tempering.
For Tempering:
1. Take oil in the pan, once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dry red chilies, Curry leaves, Let's fry it.
2. Next, add Tomato puree and add salt. Let's mix it.
3. Add masala powder, garlic, coriander leaves, let it boil for sometime
4. Finally, serve Tomato Rasam with rice and papad.
