Trump Goes After Obama In Campaign Violations Tweet, Says They Are 'No Big Deal'

President Trump posted another tweet on campaign violations.

President Trump has once again tried to downplay speculation that he may have violated campaign finance laws by comparing his situation to that of former President Obama.
Trump tweeted Saturday: "Many people currently a part of my opposition, including President Obama & the Dems, have had campaign violations, in some cases for very large sums of money. These are civil cases. They paid a fine & settled. While no big deal, I did not commit a campaign violation!"
The post echoes comments Trump has made previously including an August tweet where he wrote: "Michael Cohen plead guilty to two counts of campaign finance violations that are not a crime. President Obama had a big campaign finance violation and it was easily settled!"
Cohen had been Trump's long-time personal attorney and "fixer." He was sentenced to three years in prison for charges that "included arranging hush-money payments to two women who said they had affairs with Mr. Trump, tax evasion, making a false statement to a bank and lying to Congress," reports the New York Times.
Despite the president's claim of innocence, Cohen has directly implicated him, saying during an ABC News interview that Trump knew about the payments and knew they were wrong.
As for Trump's claim that his situation is similar to that of his predecessor, election law experts have said that Obama's violations were largely due to paperwork errors--not the criminal violation of the law that Cohen pleaded guilty to.
