00:00 Flash was racing up until 2015.
00:02 He finished racing and then he wasn't actually homed until 2022.
00:07 So he spent five years in a kennel by himself just waiting.
00:10 He was rehomed and he was only there for about three weeks.
00:13 That didn't work out.
00:14 This is where we came in.
00:16 The rescue contacted us.
00:17 We already had two senior greyhounds and we ended up adopting him.
00:21 He looked sad.
00:22 He was really shut down.
00:23 It's a huge change for him at 11 years old to then find a home
00:28 and be in this strange environment with all these strange people.
00:31 I'm scared.
00:32 He didn't come in the living room with us for three weeks.
00:35 It was all real baby steps for him.
00:37 We took him to the beach and what we can only assume is the first time he'd ever been.
00:44 Oh my god.
00:45 We want to take him so he can experience the world and do all these things.
00:54 But we have to find the right balance with his health as well
00:57 because his legs are sore.
00:58 But he will just keep going and going and going because he just loves to be there.
01:02 He found such a love for toys.
01:09 He actually started hoarding toys in his bed
01:20 because I guess that he just never had all these things before.
01:22 And he'd just take them and he would just sit with them all around him in his bed
01:25 like he was the king.
01:26 Just the sweetest thing.
01:27 But it wasn't just toys that he had hoarded there.
01:31 He would also take shoes, TV remotes, anything that was on the floor belonged to Flash basically.
01:37 If we'd lost the TV remote we'd just go and look in Flash's bed basically.
01:44 Flash is bonded probably in a completely different way to any other dog.
01:56 The minute we go upstairs he'll start crying from downstairs.
01:59 But if we go back down he's quite happy just the way it's been.
02:03 He's just happy to have us there and happy to be in our company.
02:06 His dad is definitely his favourite.
02:11 Flash waits for him to come home from work.
02:13 They've got a bit of a boys bond going on.
02:19 He's a big part of the family.
02:21 I just couldn't imagine life without him.
02:23 He's perfect to us.
02:28 He never needs to feel alone again.
