Reese Witherspoon recently spoke with Charlie Rose on ‘60 Minutes’ and said that the career slump following her 2006 Academy Award win was a result of her divorce.

Only months after she accepted the best actress honor for her portrayal of June Carter in ‘Walk the Line’ her marriage began to crumble.

By November of that same year she and then husband Ryan Phillippe filed for divorce.

Said Witherspoon, "That was a tough year that followed. I spent a few years just trying to feel better. You can't really be very creative when you feel like your brain is scrambled eggs."

She feels that her own lack of passion for the projects and roles she was taking on at that time had a lot to do with why moviegoers didn’t respond well to the films.

A wakeup call for just how much her star had faded came in 2012 when she found herself listed as one of the New Yorker’s once celebrated actors who had ceased to be box office draws.

In the years since she’s made her way back into the limelight, most recently with her involvement in the blockbuster ‘Gone Girl’ and her critically acclaimed performance in ‘The Wild’.
