CA Mayor Fatally Shot By Wife
The mayor of Bell Gardens, California passed away yesterday. The wife of Daniel Crespo is accused of shooting him during a domestic dispute.
Daniel Crespo was the mayor of Bell Gardens, California and his wife is accused of shooting him following a domestic dispute.
Levette Crespo was questioned but she has since been released. According to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the couple had gotten into a verbal altercation inside their home which later turned physical.
Reportedly, the couple’s 19-year-old son attempted to intervene and stop the fight. At that point, Levette took out a gun and fired towards her husband multiple times.
45-year-old Daniel was declared dead at the hospital. The son received treatment at a medical facility for facial injuries sustained during the confrontation.
Levette and the teen were interviewed by police. No arrests have been made at this time.
The Sheriff's Department has released a statement noting “The facts of the case will be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office who will determine if criminal charges will be filed."
The victim’s brother claims he spoke to Daniel not long before he was killed and learned the couple was arguing over money. Crespo and Levette were high school sweethearts who got married in 1986.
