Today I’m going to share a few black cohosh side effects and a few benefits you should be aware of. Perhaps you have seen this supplement in a store or online and wondered if it was worth it.

The plants roots are used and it’s mostly known for helping with menopause. There are also many other benefits to this plant that I will share with you a little later.

The biggest danger to using black cohosh would be liver damage which has occurred in a few people taking this alternative medicine. This is why some countries such as Australia have put warning labels on the supplement.

The good news is that it’s not a concrete fact that black cohosh will harm the liver. Some of the participants that have gotten liver problems could have additional lifestyle choices that negatively affected this organ.

In a study by the journal called Menopause scientists looked at 5 previous research studies with over 1,000 women. The conclusion was that 88 patients left the studies, but none were due to liver problems or any other indicators that there was liver damage.

Another danger to this herb along with nearly all herbal remedies is for women who are pregnant. To be safe if you’re pregnant or a child it’s best to consult a medical professional before taking herbal remedies.

Also if you are taking prescription drugs or hormonal therapy you probably should talk to a physician because there might be a negative interaction.

There are other mild side effects that could happen by taking this herb. These side effects could potentially take place with any herbal remedy so it’s not unusual.

These unwanted effects might include an allergic reaction, stomach cramps, headaches, being nauseas, bleeding in the reproductive area and perhaps weight gain.

Now that you know about some of the dangers to this plant let’s talk about some reasons someone may want to consider it. One of the greatest benefits this plant can give is with menopause.

It’s been used by Native Americans for hundreds of years to help with mood swings, irritability, hot flashes, PMS, and menstrual problems.

Another way black cohosh could be helpful is due to its ability to reduce inflammation with arthritis. Inflammation causes a lot of damage and is the chief cause of pain with joints. By reducing it not only will it reduce this pain but will provide many other advantages to a person’s health.

Also this herb has abilities to fight off unwanted bacteria, help improve digestion and possibly improve blood pressure levels.
