A toddler from Utah was tragically killed in an unthinkable accident. On June 6th, he was playing outside their hotel near Fisherman's Wharf and reportedly climbed on a large dolphin statue which toppled on top of him.

A toddler from Utah was tragically killed in an unthinkable accident. The 2-year-old boy named Kayson Shelton had been visiting San Francisco with his family.

Unfortunately the statue tipped over with the toddler still latched onto it. Kayson’s 6-year-old sister tried to prevent the fall but the statue was too heavy. The dolphin fell on top of the child.

When first responders arrived, the outlook was good for Kayson. He was only treated for a bloody nose before being transported to the hospital. According to Capt. Joe McFadden of the Special Victims Unit, Kayson’s condition rapidly deteriorated once he got to the facility.

He was sent to the emergency room but passed away about 4 hours after the incident occurred. The accident is exceptionally disturbing because local merchants were previously warned not to keep statues on sidewalk, as it is a violation of municipal police code .

Local police are investigating what happened and have reportedly issued a citation to Majestic Collection.
