High Fat Dairy Linked to Lower Obesity Risk

New research suggests that there is, surprisingly a strong association between high fat dairy and lower fat people.

Often times, consumers look longingly at the full fat versions of dairy products, but opt for reduced calorie ones instead.

Typically, it’s because they’re trying to control their caloric intake and watch their weight.

While that seems like perfectly sound reasoning, new research suggests that there is surprisingly a strong association between high fat dairy and lower fat people.

In one study, Swedish researchers observed middle-aged men and their eating habits over a period of 12 years.

Ultimately, they found that the group who had who had consumed butter, cream and milk with a higher fat had significantly fewer instances of obesity among them than the low-and-no-fat dairy consumers.

While just one study can be brushed off as an anomaly, there was also recently a 2nd, unrelated analysis published that stated similar conclusions.

In that one, researchers explored the data of 16 separate observational research efforts.

They concluded that in the majority of them high fat dairy was linked to a lowered likelihood of being overweight.

In both cases it’s unclear why, but theories range from richer foods being more satisfying to possibly containing special metabolism-activating agents.

Overall, there’s no absolute answer about which is the better option, but researchers are still looking into the matter.
