They do require a really really big cage and environment and lots of things to keep them busy. It also can be a very very loud bird. The macaws in general are really prized for their beauty, I mean you can't really find any better colors on any bird out there than the macaws. They're very vibrant. Most of the South American birds have a lot of color, very vibrant and beautiful. Their long tails and the tail feathers are just amazing. Of course with a big bird like this you really need to have a lot of space in your home and you really need to have understanding neighbors if you're close by someone elses house, because they can be very very loud. There are things that you can do to keep them happy. The busier they are, and the more stuff they have to do, the quieter they will be, but it still will be a very loud bird.
