TV fans record viewing

Hardcore TV fans have fought off sleep and leg cramps to set a new world record for television viewing.

The group of three men were crowned Guinness world record holders for television viewing after watching episodes of the Kiefer Sutherland series "24" for 86 hours and 6 minutes straight.

Kevin Coon, Farris Hodo and Victor Lopez were each awarded a $10,000 dollar prize for their show of endurance.

"Beating the world record just feels ... it's amazing. You never really picture yourself in the Guinness book and you never picture yourself in there for a TV show. But I just hope no one goes out to try to beat it next year. Just give me my five years or whatever," said Kevin Coon.

The "24" Marathon Challenge and Fan Fest was open to the first one hundred American residents over the age of 18 to sign up online. Their goal was to break the current record, which was set in 2009, at 86 hours.

The winners had to be watching the screen at all times and stay awake in order to break the record and take home the cash. The less lucky 97 other couch potatoes were all given a DVD box set of the complete series.
