00:00A new way to wake up. Amy and Sean on 1027 VGS. Crazy video on social media of Hoover Dam.
00:09Usually you just, you go there, it's majestic. I get, you know, this is probably terrible,
00:14but we went as a family and I was like, this is it. Oh my, really? I swear. And everybody,
00:21my husband was like, you're the worst. You are. That's amazing. I don't, I know. They built it
00:27in four years. It was built three times stronger than it had to be. There is a grave for a dog
00:32that was killed on the site there on the top of the thing. Yeah, I know because my dad got me this
00:36book after and a hat, a Hoover Dam hat and a book. And he was like, you need to learn. And you're not
00:43impressed. It's all right. It's fine. It is a lovely place, the Hoover Dam, except when you look at the
00:48other side of the Lake Mead side, you're like, wow, that's awfully low. That said though, a transformer
00:51went poof over at Hoover Dam yesterday. It was really dramatic and dangerous, big fireball,
00:56lots of smoke. Thankfully, power grid, employees, everything's safe. Nothing was shaken up,
01:02which is good. Yeah, that's really great. Blaze was able to be put out. Unfortunately,
01:05the dam tours were canceled for the day, to which we all say, damn. Remember the whole property
01:12building, the whole property tax bill? Yeah. Clark County Assessor's Office. They're like,
01:16hey, listen, if you have a single family house and it's owner occupied, you're going to play,
01:22your tax cap's at 3%. But we forgot what you all are, so we're hitting you at 8% unless you
01:27tell us otherwise. So dumb. And you got like a day to change it. So a lot of people changed on
01:31that last day. Well, they just sent out some bills. You're going to be getting some bills in
01:34the mail. And those bills may not accurately reflect your actual tax cap. I don't get it.
01:41So if you changed it like in the last day or two, like June 30th was the time to change your tax cap
01:46for your house. If you sent it in those last couple of days, they have a massive backlog. They
01:51haven't gotten to it yet. So you're going to get a bill saying that you're going to pay 8%.
01:54But then you're going to get another bill in the mail eventually. That says 3%. And if you don't get
02:01one in October, you should call the Clark County Assessor's Office. And ask for a bill? No,
02:06thank you. And say, hey guys, where's my correct bill? Can somebody over there like just do something,
02:12please? That's so odd. Yeah, it is kind of weird. Imagine how low our taxes would be if
02:16they didn't have to resend bills. I'm not going to call and ask them for a bill. If they don't send
02:21it, then sorry. Well, I'm pretty sure that's not the way it works. I'm pretty sure you have to pay
02:26the property tax. If I don't have a bill, I'm not going to call and ask for it. So I'll let them know
02:31if you're listening right now, you better put mine up front or you're not getting my money.
02:37Yeah, well, okay. We do wish her well in her foreclosure. That's why my husband does the bills.
02:41Yes, probably. I'm too petty to do the bills. Meanwhile, the mail was just overflowing. I
02:48refused to check it. I didn't get it. Yeah. And then finally, another Clark County story,
02:51Clark County Commission voting unanimously to limit the size of new pool construction
02:57in the valley. Oh, wow. It's I mean, I don't think it's that bad. You could build a 40 foot by 15
03:05foot pool. That's a pretty big pool. That's a huge pool. Get over it. The design is anything. It's 600
03:11square feet. That's the barrier. Anything over that you'd have to pay anywhere from 40 to 50
03:15dollars per square foot. If you have a covered pool, automatic cover, they'll give you an
03:19exemption. But other than that, yeah. I mean, if you have a pool that's over 40 by 15, you're doing
03:24fine. Unless you're like Michael Phelps trying to train for the Olympics or something. I think
03:28you'll be fine with that. All you need is one lane. All right. Then you go, you go 120 by five.
03:34You don't need much. That's so crazy. You know, I don't think my backyard could fit.
03:38And people are still going to complain about that. Literally still going to complain so
03:41much. People that can't afford a pool like that are going to complain. You know what I'm
03:47saying? Like that you need, that's, that's a good size pool. They don't limit how deep
03:51it can go though. So you could just like, it does not, it's not, it's not in cubic feet.
03:55So you could just have a 40 foot deep pool. Yeah. You want to drill through all the caliche.
03:59Yeah. So.
