Today's contestants are Peter Brough & Gloria Wilkinson from Hertfordshire & London, Jenny & Mark Hall from Yorkshire, Maggie & Bill Taylor from Suffolk and Alan Brockhouse & Paula Turner from Lancashire. Bruce Forsyth presents and is assisted by Rosemary Ford, (who seems to of turned up in her underwear to do this) and they help the guests through games involving Chippendales, Candy Floss, Yodelling (separate games, I hasten to add, not all together), plus a "Guess the Celebrity Voice" game (not easy) before the final pairs face off in a 42nd Street dance off. There is one contestant that is almost overbearing, while the Challenge TV repeats always feel that something's been edited out of the original recording at times, but it still makes for an entertaining episode, and ladies will like the Chippendales.

14:35How are you?
14:36Great.
14:38You look good.
14:39Well, I must say, you're the biggest Chippendale I've ever seen.
14:45You must be a tall boy.
14:47That's an English joke.
14:49Anyway, I'd just like you to know that, Tim, whatever way you want to mark this is all
14:55right with me.
14:56That's good, Bruce.
14:56I'm really not looking forward to making you mad.
14:58Yeah, come here.
14:59How long have you been at Chippendale?
15:01I've been with Chippendales for a year.
15:03Is that all?
15:04You must be a quick developer.
15:05Now, after all that success at the Strand Theatre in London, where are you going now?
15:11Are you going back home?
15:12No, we're going to begin our UK tour.
15:13We're going to be here until Christmas.
15:15So, ladies, come on out.
15:16See us.
15:20Okay, now for the business that we're about, marking this team first, and Mark's out of
15:2520, Tim, what did you think?
15:26Out of 20, I had to give him a 14.
15:28I didn't think he was going to fit in that suit.
15:30He's a bigger guy than we thought.
15:33That's right.
15:33You're right.
15:34So, 14 out of 20?
15:3514.
15:36They really went 14.
15:36And what about over this side?
15:39I think these guys are just a little bit better.
15:40I had to give them a 16.
15:4116?
15:43Yeah.
15:43They took more of you.
15:45Thank you, Tim.
15:46Good luck, Chippendales, for your UK tour.
15:49Okay.
15:50Bye-bye, Tim.
15:51Now, then.
15:52Now, what's on the board, Miss Ford?
15:55Well, Gloria and Peter have scored 14.
15:57Jenny and Mark have scored 16.
16:00All right, only two in it.
16:01Okay, go and get all that stuff off.
16:03Go on.
16:04Off you go.
16:05Off you go there.
16:06Well done.
16:07Now, then.
16:09Our next game is called Inner Spin.
16:11So, here's something we've all had at least once in our lives.
16:15From Blackpool Pleasure Beach, here's the park catering manager, Peggy Chadwick.
16:21All right.
16:21All right.
16:25All right.
16:27Right.
16:27Now, Peggy, you make everything from waffles to sausages, but tonight it's going to be candy
16:34floss.
16:35Now, tell me, is it still as popular today as it was when I was a kid?
16:38Oh, extremely.
16:39At Blackpool Pleasure Beach, we sell about 250,000 a year.
16:43Oh, yeah.
16:43Which means that we can re-turf Wembley Stadium three times.
16:46It'd be difficult to play on, wouldn't it?
16:48It's a nice, attractive pinky colour, and they can call it Sweet FA.
16:56Don't we get jokes together.
16:58Right.
16:58Come over here.
16:59And would you push them back on, if you will, Rosemary?
17:02That's lovely.
17:02And get right in here so that we can see exactly what's going on.
17:06Okay, get nice and go, but not to give her room to move.
17:09Okay.
17:09So, in your own time there, off you go.
17:12Pop in some sugar in.
17:13Pop some sugar in.
17:14Wait until it builds up.
17:16Oh, there's a bit of a build up there.
17:17Yes, very nice.
17:18And then we're going to loop it, flick it.
17:20Flick it.
17:21Pop it round the bowl.
17:22That's even easier because you've got your left hand.
17:26Now she's doing the other one with the left hand, you see?
17:28You loop it.
17:30Flick it.
17:31That's it, flick it as well.
17:32Pop it round the bowl.
17:33See the way she flips it?
17:35That's very important.
17:37Right, it's body and shape to the floss itself.
17:40Okay?
17:41That's two.
17:42Now going back to the right hand.
17:45See, right hand first, then the left hand, then the right hand.
17:48And then she's got a bit of a...
17:49Oh, nice bit of a build up there.
17:50A good flick.
17:51You're getting a bit of a flick there, aren't you?
17:54Is it over your nose?
17:59In we go.
18:00There we are.
18:01And the three there all done.
18:02Loads of switched off.
18:03One.
18:04Really lovely.
18:06She makes it look so simple.
18:08Oh, can you come back and do some magic?
18:10Thank you very much.
18:11Peggy, well, you come over here.
18:13Now all of you get to your machines.
18:16Well, you're getting a bit of a build up already.
18:18Right, pick up your sugar and put some sugar in.
18:24Okay, about the same amount.
18:27Okay, that's it.
18:28Put some sugar in.
18:29Now get your sticks and wait for your build up.
18:32Wait for your build up.
18:33Oh, you've got plenty of build up there.
18:34Go on, away.
18:34Get a good start, that one.
18:41After all that build up.
18:44You get a...
18:45Well, they are doing a bit better over here, I think.
18:51Definitely a bit better.
18:52Okay.
18:53And, uh...
18:54We're sure this isn't a washing machine, are we sure?
18:58Okay, let's open it with your left hand.
19:00And lift and flick.
19:01Lift and flick.
19:03Yours look like Grillo pads.
19:04Stop!
19:17Right.
19:19I know this is a waste of time.
19:20Ken, you need to come back and do some magic, please.
19:24Good.
19:26Well, did you get just to the end here?
19:29Well, I mean, he was getting it all over the place, love.
19:33I mean, I've never seen so much mean so little.
19:38But, uh...
19:38Such a brave attempt.
19:39It was a brave attempt.
19:40And I think his machine went a bit out of order, really.
19:43Yeah, what do you think?
19:44You've got to give him four for being here.
19:45You've got a four for standing here and putting up with you.
19:48Yeah, well done.
19:49Well done.
19:51And this one's here, she had it all over a minute ago.
19:53She's got some here as well.
19:54But there we are.
19:55What do you think?
19:57Slightly better.
19:57And her stick grope.
19:58See, that broke her stick, you see.
20:00She broke her stick.
20:02That was quite a good one, that one.
20:04That's a nice shape, yes.
20:05She's got a good flick and a twist with that.
20:06Let's give her five.
20:07Give her five for that.
20:08Well done indeed.
20:09All right, well, well.
20:11Now then.
20:12Stay here.
20:13This is the most confident approach, wasn't it?
20:14Yes, and how proud she looks.
20:16Yes, yes.
20:16Look, just round here a bit, my darling.
20:18Definitely artistic.
20:19How about seven?
20:21Seven.
20:21Very well done indeed.
20:23Lovely, lovely.
20:24And now here.
20:25Just turn there.
20:26Turn there like that.
20:27That's good, that's fine.
20:28And what do you think?
20:29Well, such an energetic approach.
20:31Yes.
20:31With a bit of practice, you could work on the Pleasure Beach for us.
20:33They certainly do a bit better.
20:34Yes, about five years' practice.
20:35Yes, five years' practice.
20:37I think six.
20:38Six.
20:39Well done indeed.
20:40Give her that back to it.
20:42And then she'll have a time out.
20:43OK, throw them in there, throw them in the beat.
20:46Look, throw them away there, all right.
20:47Come on.
20:55Now, what's on the board, Miss Ford?
20:58Gloria and Peter have scored 23, Jenny and Mark have scored 29
21:03Oh dear, well done you two, sorry to lose you two
21:09But you will be getting a generation going in the telephone to each other to keep in touch with each other and us we hope
21:14And we'll see you in our grand final which is coming up very very soon
21:18Off you go and thank you
21:20There you are, nice people
21:23Now then, who have we got left?
21:26Well our third teams from Suffolk, their mother and son Maggie and Bill Taylor
21:32Hello there, welcome, welcome
21:42Now you're Maggie Taylor and you're a supply teacher and you're married to Ralph
21:46You've been married for 40 years
21:48Yes, yes
21:48Long time
21:49Yes, lovely though
21:50Oh lovely, lovely long time
21:52Can you still, I mean it's a long time ago, can you still remember your honeymoon?
21:55Oh yes, I remember that very well
21:57Well we're all glad about that, aren't we?
22:01Now after 40 years, has Ralph got any irritating...
22:04Yes, I'm afraid so
22:06Oh yes
22:07He, er...
22:08Yes
22:10He, he's always, erm, interrogating us on...
22:14Interrogating?
22:15Yes, yes, yes, but it's for our good, it's for our good
22:17Oh, I see
22:18Yes
22:19Has he got a nickname for you?
22:20Oh yes, we call him Gestapo Gordon
22:23He's having fun though, you know
22:26Yeah, and what does he call you?
22:28He calls me Mrs. Messersmith
22:30Oh yes, I'm zooming
22:32I'll just make a note of that
22:36Geriatrics
22:37Now, er, you'd love to meet Ken Dodd, Frankie Howard and Pavarotti
22:45Oh yes, I'd love to
22:46Three of mine
22:46Oh, sorry, sorry to interrupt
22:47I'd like to have them to teach
22:52Oh would you?
22:53Yes, yes
22:54I've got a little, sort of, riddle for you
22:56Erm, what's the difference between Ken Dodd and Pavarotti?
23:01One's got a big voice
23:02Yes
23:03And the other one's got a big tickling stick
23:09Yes, that's good
23:10But what you're supposed to say
23:12No, I didn't, I didn't, what you're supposed to say
23:21I don't know, what is the difference between you saying
23:24Oh, I'm sorry
23:25I mean, you see
23:26Hi
23:27Sorry about that
23:28If you don't mind
23:29Sorry
23:30Go on, I don't know
23:31What is the difference between Ken Dodd and, was it Pavarotti?
23:39Pavarotti sings the notes and Ken Dodd hides them
23:43Right, now then, just stay right there, do you, will you?
23:55Fine, okay, get the weight ready
23:58Now, you just there
24:02Now over to your son, Bill
24:04That's right, yes
24:04And you work for British Telecom
24:06Yes, I try to anyway
24:06So, your phone, Bill
24:07What is it?
24:14Remember, I don't like that new British Telecom logo, do you?
24:19You did so much better off with mine
24:21It wouldn't have cost you as much as British Gas have played for Larry Hackman and Bert Rowe
24:26Don't you think that's just
24:27Don't you really?
24:28All that money?
24:30Oh, I was, I was so livid
24:31I nearly put my head in the gas oven
24:32You said it wouldn't fit
24:35Now, you've got one regular girlfriend
24:40That's right, yeah
24:41Very lovely lady
24:42With all the phone numbers you've got
24:43Now, you once suggested to the family to put a sign on your front gate
24:51Beware of the dad
24:52Is that, is that Ralph again?
24:55That's right, yeah
24:56He's lovely
24:57Yes, but he's really lovely
24:59Yes, yes
25:02I wish he was here
25:03Yes, so do I
25:04I tell him to shut you up
25:06But is he looking in?
25:09He'll be looking in, will he?
25:11Yeah, well, hi Ralph
25:12Thank you for being here
25:13Now, control yourself
25:14Don't wear yourself out
25:15Okay

25:48Oh, yeah
25:48All right, it's soon gone
25:49But
25:50I went to Austin
25:52And you met over a jukebox
25:54That's true
25:54Was this leaning over a jukebox
25:56Hanging over a jukebox
25:57No
25:57Or laying on a jukebox
25:58No
25:59Stood up at the jukebox
26:00Waiting to put a record on
26:01Stood up?

26:08I see, fine
26:09You met him
26:10I see
26:10Now, was the proposal more romantic than the meeting?
26:13No
26:13No, what happened?
26:15Well, I asked him what he'd most like to do
26:17And his reply was to run away to Gretna Green and marry me
26:20Well, that's very romantic
26:22Well, why did you do that?
26:23I said, yeah
26:24Come on, then
26:25Yeah
26:25Just joking
26:26He said, well, I've run out of petrol, so it's tough
26:28That's a shame
26:31That really is
26:32Austin has irritating habits
26:35He goes out for an hour
26:36And comes back five hours later
26:39Licks his plate to show he's enjoyed his meal
26:42You talked about your husband or your dog
26:45And his name's Austin
26:47Yeah

27:02You know, they slip off
27:03If ever I see them in with a duvet cover
27:05I pull it right up as high as I can
27:07Then I bite into it
27:09I'll see you, Alan
27:12But, er, no, Nellie

38:33We have got an answer
38:34Yes, can we see who that was?
38:36If you have a little baby
38:37A little child
38:38An infant
38:39However, they're wonderful
38:40They're clever
38:41They're brilliant
38:42Okay, now it was of course Joan Collins
38:43What have you got over there?
38:44We have Toya
38:45No, you don't get anything for that
38:47And you don't get anything for the
38:49Stop looking round
38:51The bra
38:52You don't get anything for the bra
38:53So no points at all here
38:54Our answer is
38:55A nice mummy
39:02But it was better than the first one, wasn't it?
39:04At least
39:05We don't get anything for the hat
39:07Okay, nice try Bill
39:09But nothing for the hat
39:10Okay, the next one please
39:11Maybe a little late in the day
39:13To learn things that
39:14Maybe I should have learnt
39:15When I was younger
39:16I've always been very stubborn
39:17About learning stuff
39:18And being taught
39:20And to some extent
39:22That's helped me in improvisation
39:24There we are
39:25Okay, of course it was Dudley Moore
39:26What have you got there?
39:27We have John Sessions
39:28John?
39:29Hold on
39:30Hold on
39:31Sorry
39:32Hold on
39:33Sorry
39:34And that's wrong of course
39:35The skull
39:36The hamlet
39:37And the skull
39:38Is no good either
39:39So you put that down
39:40And the cap
39:41And the cap
39:42That's good
39:43Yeah?
39:44That's good
39:45Yeah, the cap is good for Dudley Moore
39:46He's good
39:47Well done
39:48Well done
39:49Take a bow
39:50Take a bow
39:51And I'll tell you what
39:53And I'll tell you what
39:54It's a good question
39:55There we are
39:56There we are
39:57Okay, of course it was Dudley Moore
39:58What have you got there?
39:59We have John Sessions
40:00John?
40:01Hold on
40:02Sorry
40:03And the...
40:04That's wrong of course
40:05The skull
40:06The skull
40:07The hamlet
40:08And the skull
40:09Is no good either
40:10So you put that down
40:11And the cap
40:12That's good
40:13Yeah, the cap is good
40:14For Dudley Moore
40:15And I'll tell you what
40:17Although it was Dudley Moore
40:18You can have one pour and it eats
40:19For John Sessions
40:20It doesn't make any difference does it?
40:21It just makes the score bigger
40:24So one each for John Sessions
40:26That's fine
40:27Our next one please
40:28We don't want to be the boss all the time
40:30I would like
40:31To be with someone who is my equal
40:34So it's a back and forth kind of thing
40:38Wait a minute
40:39Yes, that's right
40:40Don't...
40:41Leave...
40:42You've written something down
40:43Leave it
40:44Right
40:46Right
40:47Now you could all see
40:49Let's see who that was
40:51I don't want to be the boss all the time
40:53I would like
40:54To be with someone who is my equal
40:56So it's a back and forth kind of a thing
40:59There we are, of course
41:00It was Madonna
41:01Madonna
41:02So what have you got over there, Rosie?
41:03We have Madonna
41:04Madonna
41:05Yes
41:06Hold on, hold on
41:07Don't get so excited
41:08You've got Madonna there
41:09You've got Madonna there
41:10One point
41:11Well it should be two points really
41:12I suppose
41:13Never mind
41:14One point for Madonna
41:15Well done indeed
41:17She's got Madonna
41:18Yeah
41:19Madonna
41:20Well done past work
41:24Oh
41:26Oh
41:27Oh God
41:28I hope this is not
41:29There we are, that's lovely
41:30And you get one point as well for
41:31Yes, well done indeed Bill
41:33So at last a bit of scoring
41:35That's lovely
41:36And the next one please
41:38Try to understand from his point of view
41:40That perhaps it was just too difficult for him
41:43To express those emotions
41:44To express those emotions
41:45Because people will tell me
41:46Would tell me
41:47Oh, when you're not around
41:48What your father says about you
41:50How proud he is of what you've done
41:51And all that
41:55Right
41:57And I'll ask you to say that
41:58Right
41:59So it was of course
42:00Let's see who that was
42:01Perhaps it was just
42:03Too difficult for him
42:04To express those emotions
42:05Because people will tell me
42:07Would tell me
42:08Oh, when you're not around
42:09What your father says about you
42:10How proud he is of what you've done
42:12And all that
42:13Of course
42:14It was Kirk Douglas
42:16What did we have over there, Rosemary?
42:18Mike Tyson
42:21Mike Tyson?
42:23God, dear, oh dear
42:24But
42:25We have the Viking
42:26The Viking hat
42:27Yes, one point
42:28Well done
42:29Well done
42:31Now, what is it?
42:32Son of
42:33Son of important man
42:34Son of important man
42:39Bad luck
42:40Good try
42:41Good try
42:42And the Norman helmet
42:43Wouldn't it?
42:44If it had been the Viking helmet
42:45You'd got a point
42:46But no points for that
42:47Anyway
42:48Absolutely marvellous
42:49A lot of fun
42:50If a bit hard work here and there
42:52But come here
42:53Good game
42:54Good game
42:55Good game
42:56There we are
42:57There we are
42:58What's on the board, Miss Ford?
43:04Maggie and Bill have scored 18
43:06Paula and Alan have scored 19
43:08Ohhhh
43:09Well done
43:10Well done
43:11Well done
43:12Said that you two
43:14Sorry to lose you

43:25Don't get so excited, Bill
43:27Okay
43:28And so if you'll go off there
43:29And thank you again for being with us
43:31Thank you so much
43:32Let's remind ourselves of who you'll be playing in the grand final
43:42And have we got a grand final for you

52:10Well, we have a dancer supreme.
52:13And so many West End successes behind him.
52:16Of course, it's the one and only Mr. Wayne Sleep.
52:26Hello. Thank you.
52:28Thank you for being here because, you know, it's been one of those days where...
52:35Are you right?
52:38Yes, I'm right.
52:40Find it where you were going.
52:42You are strong.
52:44You always do.
52:46Doesn't know his own strength.
52:47Right, of course I don't.
52:48But thank you for being here.
52:49Yes, yes.
52:50You know, we know you're a very busy guy and everything.
52:51Yes.
52:52But I can see you having a bit of a laugh down there.
52:53Yes, that's right.
52:54We were doing it for real, you know.
52:55Well, you were marvellous.
52:57But, um...
52:58What do you think?
52:59Well...
53:00You can't get me around me like that.
53:04Oh, they've tried before.
53:06Oh, they've tried, they've tried.
53:07They've tried before.
53:08Well, the first couple, what can I say?
53:10I mean, wonderful ad-libs.
53:12Um...
53:13Good style.
53:14You did end up facing the back, however, at the end.
53:16That's my best sign.
53:17Your best sign?
53:19Well, we saw it rather a lot, I thought.
53:23So, I thought what I'd give to you two, um...
53:26with a very good attempt, was 17 marks.
53:28Oh, very good.
53:29Very, very good.
53:31Thank you, Steve.
53:32Very well.
53:33Very good.
53:35But I have to say...
53:38Who needs a circus?
53:39We've got the elephant here, haven't we?
53:41But he ad-libbed so well, I just...
53:43And the taps were coming out.
53:44And the taps were coming out.
53:45And the ad-libbing.
53:46He did fall over at the end, but it was sheer enthusiasm.
53:49Yeah!
53:50And, you know, you have to give them 10 out of 10 for that.
53:52So, I think they just picked you to the post with 18 marks.
53:55Hey!
53:57Very bad, you, Steve.
53:58Very bad.
53:59Very bad.
54:00Very bad.
54:01Very bad.
54:02Very bad.
54:03Very bad for you.
54:04Thank you, darling.
54:05Well, now...
54:06Please, just a minute.
54:08Just a minute, we're superstars.
54:10The choreography's very good, isn't it?
54:13Yeah.
54:14Now, what about...
54:15What are you doing at the moment?
54:16You're on a big tour, aren't you?
54:17Yes, I am.
