00:53Hello welcome to From the South, I'm Luis Alberto Matos from De La Cruz Studios in Caracas,
00:57Venezuela.
00:58We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:04The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has confronted the head of the Federal
01:17Reserve, Jerome Powell.
01:19The data of the agency in charge of the country's monetary policy contradict the tenet of the
01:24White House.
01:25This Friday, in a new act of interference, the U.S. President ordered the Fed to lower
01:29interest rates so as not to harm the economy.
01:33But the President of the organization does not share the criteria and warns that the
01:36head of state's tariff measures seriously complicate the country's outlook.
01:40Powell assured us since the announcement they are facing a very uncertain outlook with high
01:44risk of increased unemployment and inflation.
01:57And the losses caused by the tariffs implemented by the U.S. administration since last Tuesday
02:01amount to more than $3 trillion.
02:04These economic measures are already leaving their first consequences on the stock market,
02:09which is the space where financial assets are bought and sold.
02:12According to calculations by financial portals in the country, Wall Street, the main financial
02:16block in the United States, has lost $9.6 trillion since Trump's inauguration.
02:21Likewise, the main stock market indexes reported falls.
02:25This is the case of the technological Nasdaq, with a total of more than 5,000 companies,
02:30which lost 5.97%.
02:32In this context, analysts warn that Trump's tariff war poses a significant risk to global
02:37economic growth.
02:38In response to the increase in tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, the Indian
02:50government has promised to act.
02:52When Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the sixth summit of the Gulf of Bengal
02:57Initiative for Multisectoral, Technical and Economic Cooperation in Thailand, he proposed
03:02a 21-point action plan that addressed the various facets of cooperation among the bloc's
03:08members' nations.
03:09He also explained that in order to define the course of action and the opportunities
03:13that may arise from the new U.S. tax package, he is continuing to work with all industry
03:18stakeholders and domestic exporters while also reviewing the tariff situation with his
03:24economic team.
03:27U.S. President Donald Trump deals a strong blow to the far-right government of Argentine
03:35President Javier Melendez.
03:37The tariff war sinks the Merval Index by almost 10%.
03:42The White House measure also had a significant impact on the certificates of Argentinean
03:46companies known as ADR, some of which fell by up to 15%.
03:51The most affected are Banco Supervilla BBVA and Macro, which fell between 15 and 13.5%.
04:01In view of the situation, the country risk indicator prepared by the firm J.P. Morgan
04:05showed up in the South American nation to 925 points.
04:11The Merval Index, which measures the performance of Argentine shares and markets, fell up to
04:1610 points.
04:25And after participating in the American Patriots Gala in Florida, Argentine President Javier
04:29Melendez returned to Buenos Aires without a photo with his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump.
04:35The fact caused uneasiness in the government since the meeting with the U.S. President
04:39was one of the main objectives of this trip, as it would have served as a message of strength
04:45in the negotiations with the International Monetary Fund.
04:48President Melendez was awarded the Lion of Liberty award and gave a speech in which he
04:52defended the neoliberal system.
04:54The head of state also announced that Argentina will adapt its legislation to meet the requirements
04:58of the new tariff system promoted by President Trump's administration.
05:10Meanwhile in the United States, a federal judge ruled Friday that a Maryland father
05:14who was mistakenly deported to a prison in El Salvador must be returned to the U.S. by
05:18Monday, April 7th.
05:20Quilmar Abrego-Garcia was deported to a Supermax prison on March 15th, despite a protection
05:24order granted in 2019 that should have kept him from being sent to El Salvador.
05:29The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials blamed an administrative error and
05:33an oversight for Abrego-Garcia's deportation, but did not take action to rectify the mistake.
05:39They argue that the federal government does not have jurisdictions, as Abrego-Garcia is
05:43in the custody of the El Salvador government, and maintain that he is a danger to the community
05:47due to alleged gang ties.
05:50Abrego-Garcia's lawyers have said in court documents that he has no criminal record,
05:54finding the government has not yet contested.
06:03A U.S. President Donald Trump extended a deadline for TikTok to be sold to a non-Chinese company.
06:08The U.S. President on Friday announced a new 75-day deadline for Chinese technology company
06:13ByteDance to sell the U.S. assets of short video app TikTok to a non-Chinese buyer.
06:20Last year, lawmakers ordered the platform to be divested from China by January 19 or
06:24face a U.S. ban on national security grounds.
06:27When U.S. President Trump took office in January, one of his first decisions was to extend the
06:31deadline until April this year in order to find a solution that keeps the app functioning.
06:40The potential agreement was negotiated in a murky environment due to the President's
06:46tariff announcements, which included assurances that the purchase of TikTok would reduce the
06:50tariff applied to China.
06:52We now have our first break coming up, remember you can join us on TikTok, but we will be
07:05right back after a short break.
07:17Welcome back.

08:26to labor outsourcing, improvements in social security and better working conditions in

09:18And logically we defend the interests of the population.
09:23In Bolivia, the mining community demands justice after the explosion registered in the middle
09:27of a confrontation between rival groups of coal miners.

09:39by the departmental police commander, Colonel Gunther Agudo.

10:39of Sao Paulo, held a protest against the annulment of the conviction of the former player Daniel

10:59the Spanish court.
11:00And in Cuba, permanent commissions of the National Assembly of People's Power evaluated
11:14the fulfillment of agreements of the legislative body presided by Esteban Lasso.
11:18During the meeting, authorities analyzed the progress of exports, tourism and food production
11:22contained in the 2025 economic plan.
11:25In this regard, the president of the National Assembly, Esteban Lasso, highlighted the importance
11:29of these partial evaluations by the permanent commissions of the legislature for the development
11:33of the island.
11:34The meeting was also propitious to systematically follow up on the country's fundamental programs.
11:54The Peruvian government declared a state of emergency in at least 14 departments of
12:04the country due to the damage caused by torrential rains.
12:07The authorities emphasized that the measure was decreed with the aim of taking immediate
12:10actions for the implementation of a timely response and necessary recovery from damages
12:15caused by the meteorological conditions affecting the country.
12:19In this sense, the National Institute of Civil Defense, together with several ministries
12:23and districts and departmental municipalities, indicated their willingness in the recovery
12:29of the affected areas and the assistance to the population.

13:57humanitarian workers in Rafa.
14:00The organization attached to the International Red Cross released the video found on the
14:05cell phone of a paramedic present at the site of the massacre.
14:09It shows that the vehicles were clearly identified, that the humanitarian workers were clearly
14:14identified as well, and that none of the units engaged in suspicious actions, as the Syrian

14:24The New York Times verified the video and confirmed its veracity.
14:35The internal management of the Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip warned that the health services
14:43are collapsing due to the large number of people wounded by the ongoing Israeli bombardments.
14:48Health personnel reported that the number of victims is extremely high and the hospital
14:51does not have the resources to attend to the emergencies.
14:54In this regard, they have rejected the closure of the border crossing since March 2nd, preventing
14:59the entry of medicines, medical equipment and support materials necessary to face the
