00:12We didn't start well, but we showed a bit more in the second half,

00:19It's been a difficult week,
00:21a team at the top of the Premier League, a team who are second in the league,
00:24and I think we've given them both decent games.
00:26What have you learnt about your players in those two games?
00:30I'm beginning to understand them a lot more.
00:34I think they've got great resilience, the players here.
00:36They stick at it, they're very committed.
00:39We were all disappointed and angry with each other at half-time
00:44because we started slowly, sluggishly,
00:47and made mistakes which we didn't think we would do.
00:52So we tried to sort that out.
00:54Tactically, we just made a slight change in how we were going to try and press Arsenal
00:59because we found it a struggle in the first half to get the ball off them at times.
01:02But we got a bit better in the second half,
01:05and great credit, we were able to get a point out of it.

01:21which would indicate that I think we're pretty close.

01:37I want to get to 60 or 70 points if I could, to be honest.
01:41But at the moment, when I came in a few months ago,

01:59Well, I've watched it zero times,
02:02and I couldn't tell you if it was a penalty or not,
02:05because I've not seen it back yet.
02:07But Jashon Healyman's class, he was able to tuck it away,
02:12and the general form was acceptable.
02:14We've missed some, we've missed some, which we have,
02:16but we've missed other people as well.
02:18We're just beginning to get players back.
02:21Thankfully we weren't getting them back now when we were needing loads of points
02:25and everybody was feeling under pressure.
02:28The players who have come in, whoever's played,
02:30has done a great job of getting us the points.
02:32We've not had Dwight, we've not had Ellis since the Liverpool game here at home,
02:37Dominic and Brogia as well,
02:41so they're just beginning to come back into the scene, which helps us a lot.
02:45It gave me a chance today to change it,
02:48to try and look at Tim as well after the game in midweek.
02:51We had an injury to Mikko,
02:54so Pat will get a chance to play as well.
02:57So we were always thinking about making a couple of changes,
03:00but some of them were a bit enforced anyway.

03:07was that also to do with the amount of work they had to do
03:09against Liverpool at Anfield the other night?
03:12If you look at it, probably off the ball for the two games we've had to beat,
03:16we're not going to have all the possession, that's for sure,
03:19and we're probably having to work really hard off it.
03:22I thought Duke's done an amazing job in the work he's done,
03:24especially at the start of the second half, him in Beto,
03:27and they needed to because we hadn't done it particularly well in the first half.
03:31But I thought the second half we got about them much better
03:34and gave ourselves a chance.
03:36Carlos Alvarez comes out to the side today,
03:38I just wonder why he has to do to end the new contract in your eyes?
03:43We'll see, we'll talk about contracts at another date,
03:46not today, but we just thought we had an opportunity to try and change things about,
03:52and we thought the best people for the job up at the top end was Dukes,
03:56and Beto and I thought Dukes proved that was the right choice.

04:08how pleased are you to have him back, how much hope can you offer?
04:12It's a bit like we've not been able to get any of the boys to games in under-21s at the moment,
04:18because we feel as if we want to get them closer to the first team as quick as we can,
04:22and we've done that a bit with Tim when he was on the way back,
04:25and we're doing it the same way early as well,
04:28we were not quite sure if we'd start him today,
04:30but in the end we felt we might as well do so to get him back in it,
04:34but he pulled up, Patil having nearly enough of his first games pulled up,
04:37we cramped in the second half as well,
04:40so all those boys are just on their way back,
04:43and Ellie's a bit the same,

05:08your next three games are against the team third, fourth and fifth,
05:11you've done quite well against the top six so far this season,
05:14how much confidence can you take from this last week going into those tough games?
05:19You probably said it in the programme notes,
05:21I've actually looked forward to the games to see how we're going to compete,
05:25I didn't really like the first half, a lot of the stuff we'd done,
05:28but I thought generally the two games we've tried to show we're resilient,
05:34we can stick at it, we've made chances in both games,
05:37which before a committee it was probably one of the big things,
05:40how are you going to score any goals or how are you going to create any chances,
05:43even today when we didn't play particularly well in the first half,
05:46I thought we made one or two opportunities.
05:49I'm looking forward to playing the games,
05:52because I'm happy to find out about all the players and see what they can do.
