00:00Hello, a very good morning to you. It was a beautiful, sunny and warm day for many of
00:05us yesterday and something similar is expected across eastern parts of the UK today. But
00:10in the west it's all changed. An area of low pressure that has brought some very unsettled
00:14weather to Portugal, Spain, Gibraltar during recent days is heading closer. It's because
00:19of that that we've seen southerly winds bring the warmth of recent days, but it's also now
00:24starting to turn things more unsettled. Initially, across southwest England, some heavy rain
00:29first thing. That moves into south Wales, parts of Northern Ireland as well as western
00:33Scotland by the afternoon. Showery outbreaks of rain, but some persistent damp weather
00:38at times as well and some heavy downpours. But towards the north-east, that's where the
00:42driest and brightest weather will continue. It's going to be breezier and there'll be
00:45a bit more cloud in the sky, so not quite as warm as Thursday, but still the potential
00:49for 18, 19 Celsius could squeeze a 20 Celsius out if there's enough sunshine and enough
00:55of a break from the wind. But all in all, for many places, it is a gradual change to
01:02more unsettled weather. Now overnight, we'll see those spells of rain in the west emerge
01:07further east across many central areas. I think the far east of England staying dry
01:11with some clear spells. Otherwise, it's a blustery night with strong winds in the north-east
01:15of Scotland, perhaps even Gales in exposed locations and some heavy rain out there. Some
01:19persistent wet weather across the Midlands, Northern England and Scotland first thing.
01:23And it's Scotland, particularly towards the west of Scotland into Northern Ireland where
01:27we'll see the wettest weather on Saturday. Further south, there'll be some spells of
01:32rain and increasingly it will turn showery by the afternoon across the south of England
01:37and parts of Wales. Hit and miss downpours, but these will be slow moving where they occur,
01:42so could deliver large rainfall totals. Of course, the ground is dry following a remarkably
01:46dry March so far, but nevertheless could cause some issues with surface water and so on.
01:53In between the downpours, chance of a few glimmers of sunlight, but nowhere near as
01:56sunny as it has been through the week. And as a result, considerably cooler, particularly
02:01where we've got that persistent rain across Western Scotland and Northern Ireland. Then
02:06into Sunday, similar sort of thing, I think areas of cloud, outbreaks of rain or showers
02:12gradually peeling away for the start of next week as a ridge of high pressure builds in
02:16from the west to affect mostly southern areas. Bye bye.
