00:00Hi Vogue, it's Amanda Seyfried,
00:02and I'm gonna show you how I get ready,
00:05and I'm gonna do a pretty basic go-to makeup look.
00:08First step, I'm drinking my celery juice.
00:11Apparently, that's what you do.
00:15You might be thinking, what's that on her face?
00:17That's my eczema, and I too suffer
00:20from perioral dermatitis.
00:22I'm gonna wash my face with something
00:23that I've been using forever.
00:25And not only is it a great bar soap for your face,
00:30but it's also a GD heart.
00:33When I was 19, I started developing the rash,
00:36and I learned about a lot of medicated products.
00:39I learned a lot about just products in general
00:41from my dermatologist at the time.
00:45And the rash is screaming, but that's okay,
00:49because I'm gonna cover it so I can go out in public.
00:52It's funny how eczema makes you feel.
00:54So two years ago, I had another flare-up,
00:57and I cut out dairy.
01:00Oh boy, it was hard.
01:01Bye-bye cappuccinos, black coffee all the way.
01:04You know, I can't wake up and not have coffee,
01:06so I also have coffee here.
01:09This, don't worry.
01:11I'm using this medicated cream
01:14for this little cutie mustache.
01:17Now, I'm gonna use toner.
01:19Tonique Comfort, Confort.
01:22It's French.
01:24I'll never be able to say it right.
01:25I'm gonna put a little bit in my hands.
01:30My skin has gotten better over the years.
01:32I've noticed it is a little better after kids.
01:35I eat better than I ever have.
01:37I mean, the celery juice must be doing something, right?
01:42Vercine serum, cream serum.
01:44And all of this does go over the medicine,
01:47because the medicine penetrates first.
01:50I've just always really been
01:51into this Boosted Contouring Eye Balm.
01:53I learned about how important, specifically,
01:56eye cream is for under our eyes.
01:59It's just such thin skin,
02:00and you just gotta take care of your eyes.
02:02So even in the morning, I use the eye cream.
02:04And then, of course, you cannot forget SPF,
02:07the Lancome Renergy Peptide Cream.
02:10But SPF is really important,
02:13and we know that now more than ever.
02:19The neck is important, too.
02:20Don't forget the neck.
02:23Skincare, done.
02:24I'm gonna curl my lashes,
02:26because my eyelashes, I'll have you know, are straight.
02:31Yeah, it's a bummer.
02:33I don't let other people do it,
02:35because they sometimes pinch my eyelids.
02:40I'm also gonna put this lip balm on.
02:42This one, it's giving youth.
02:47It just gives a tint and a hint of pink.
02:51It gives a hint of health.
02:53At home, I don't use foundation,
02:55because I don't know how to properly apply it.
02:57And that's okay.
02:58We don't need to.
03:00But this, I can't live without,
03:01this Taint Idolé Concealer.
03:05I thought I had misplaced it the other day
03:08when I went to the airport,
03:09and I almost had a meltdown internally.
03:12I needed to cover this guy.
03:18I also have really red eyelids,
03:21and you would think I'd wanna cover those up,
03:23but it's like natural eyeshadow.
03:25So I'm gonna embrace it.
03:27I learned to do my own makeup,
03:29because I realized over the years,
03:30I know what works on my face and what doesn't.
03:34And I also am pretty low-maintenance,
03:36and I don't like a lot of steps.
03:38So I was just able to cultivate this routine over the years.
03:45You see how easy that was?
03:46I don't need to get rid of all the redness.
03:48I wouldn't know how to even try.
03:50But this is not a red carpet look.
03:52This is me doing my makeup to look pretty and clean.
03:57The next thing I'm gonna do is my eyebrows.
04:00Eyebrows, what a concept.
04:02They've changed over the years.
04:04Yes, I, too, over plucked, because I was born in 85.
04:09And it's taken decades to grow them back.
04:13So Anastasia was one of the first places I went
04:16in LA in my 20s.
04:19And that's where I learned about eyebrows.
04:21Right now, I'm really loving this, because it's easy.
04:24I can just use the wand,
04:25and they paint the lighter-colored ones
04:27and make it all more uniform.
04:29And that's what I'm looking for.
04:31And I'm looking for thickness,
04:33because they are growing back.
04:34And they're growing back well, but there's some holes.
04:40You're just painting them.
04:42When I was on As the World Turns, which is a soap opera,
04:47I remember feeling embarrassed to go to set,
04:50because I felt like I just wasn't used to seeing my face
04:54covered in so much foundation and powder
04:58that I almost, like, my face would crack a little bit.
05:01And as a 15-year-old, that's scary.
05:03But I look back, and I'm like, that's TV makeup.
05:06And I looked really cute.
05:07Like, I didn't look ugly.
05:08I just felt ugly, because I was a teenager,
05:10and that's just, that's what we do.
05:12So now I'm gonna put the Anastasia gel
05:15on to hold it in place.
05:16Because I don't know about you,
05:17but when I leave the house,
05:18and I, like, put a sweater on or a sweatshirt,
05:20I always put it over my face, and it messes with my brows.
05:22I'm gonna put a little bit more of this on.
05:27Going from the soap operas that I had done to Mean Girls
05:30happened so randomly and so fast
05:34that I was just going with the flow,
05:36and I was just happy to be working.
05:38I knew how lucky I was,
05:40but we didn't quite know how big that movie was gonna be.
05:43Although that sounds really sad,
05:44it kind of helped prepare me for the rejection
05:48that every actor has.
05:50The thing that I never understood was blush,
05:54and it took me until my mid-30s to discover that blush,
05:58it's the secret weapon.
06:00It's incredible.
06:01Like, I don't have rosy cheeks, unless I'm freezing.
06:04Monica Blunder is another beautiful makeup artist
06:07that I've been working with since I was, since Mamma Mia.
06:10I'm obsessed with this liquid flush.
06:12It looks like moisturizer,
06:13but it's the most beautiful color.
06:15I put it on my hand.
06:18This one is Salzburg.
06:20This one was my favorite.
06:25I just wrapped a movie in Budapest.
06:27It's a musical.
06:29I don't know how to describe the experience
06:33of shooting Ann Lee, the musical.
06:35It is unlike anything else I've ever done,
06:37and it's unlike anything I think anyone's ever seen.
06:39I just wrapped Long Bright River,
06:41which is the show that's coming out in Peacock,
06:44and that was a lot,
06:46and I didn't have time to do my voice lessons,
06:48which I always do.
06:48I did, when I was pregnant,
06:49I was doing them three times a week on Zoom,
06:51but it was okay because the singing wasn't so technical.
06:55It was more about using my, like, feeling the human.
06:59I'm singing through suffering.
07:01I'm singing through joy.
07:03I had to move my body in ways that I wouldn't normally
07:07when I'm recording a song, so you'll see.
07:10The most important thing since day one
07:14of learning how to do makeup is mascara for me
07:16because I have blonde eyelashes,
07:20and so does my son, that poor boy,
07:21and when I was shooting Limited 2,
07:23I shot Limited 2 with Leighton Meester, by the way.
07:25Not a lot of people know that.
07:26Everybody was so pretty, and I was just so awkward,
07:30and I had braces at one point,
07:31and I remember going to the bathroom
07:34and putting mascara on
07:35because no one was putting mascara on me
07:36because I was a kid, and I felt ugly.
07:38That poor little girl,
07:39because I look back at these pictures,
07:41they're so beautiful.
07:42Like, we all looked so happy and youthful,
07:45and it goes to show, like,
07:46the pressure we put on ourselves at such a young age,
07:48and God, my role as a mother is just, like,
07:51to pay attention to what my girl, especially,
07:55is going through because she's older,
07:57and I just want to make sure she feels protected
08:00and she feels beautiful and it doesn't have to do
08:02with the length or color of your eyelashes or eyebrows.
08:06It's more about us and less about what the world is seeing.
08:09Flutter Extension Eat Away Mascara.
08:10It's new.
08:15This is the matte lipstick, which I love,
08:17because I honestly, I don't put it all over my lips.
08:19I learned on a shoot once in London
08:24that you can smudge the matte,
08:28and it looks actually way cooler,
08:29so I'm gonna do this a little bit.
08:32I'm gonna go like this.
08:34I love a red lip at night.
08:35For the daytime, I don't want to scare people.
08:38Sometimes when you rub your lips,
08:40they look a little plum.
08:42Do I look like I'm going to the prom?
08:43No, but I could totally go glam grocery shopping,
08:48and I can also just go out to lunch, and I look clean.
08:50The last thing I do, which is actually really fun
08:53because I am super translucent,
08:55is my friend Roxy, who I work with very often.
08:58She made this bronze glow mist.
09:01This is just giving health.
09:04That's it.
09:05It's a color, and it looks like
09:08you've just been to the beach.
09:10My hair was done, like full disclosure.
09:13DJ Quintero did my hair yesterday through press.
09:17It's a good thing she didn't just wake up,
09:18but I swear to God, haven't brushed it.
09:20I have good hair.
09:21I'm gonna admit it.
09:22I know I have good hair, but with good hair comes eczema.
09:26You know, it's gotta balance out the scales.
