00:00The point of doing this at this time of the morning is when the ground is really cool,
00:08then the animals are the only things that show up as a heat signature.
00:13They stick out because they have, you know, a warm body temperature.
00:25So I'm looking for the heat signature of any sort of animal.
00:35Look I've got one right here.
00:38See that?
00:39That looks like a dog.
00:40You can even tell he looks pretty skinny right there.
00:45Hopefully he'll stay right where he's at.
00:47We're going to grab some water and food and then head over there.
00:58So he was right on the cement pad over here.
01:04The dog is definitely skittish, so I've told the crew to hold back while I approach him
01:09Come on.
01:14Come here.
01:20Come here.
01:24Bless your heart.
01:31Come here, come here, come here.
01:37Bless your heart, you poor little creature.
01:39Come on.
01:42There you go.
01:44As I put the food down, he's definitely hesitant
01:48to take food or water, real skittish.
01:52It's now a couple weeks after the hurricane happened,
01:54so he's certainly really hungry and probably pretty thirsty.
02:01Poor thing, you've been through a lot, haven't you?
02:04Let me have a seat with you.
02:07Give you some company, hmm?
02:13So hopefully, if I'm patient, he'll come around.
02:17Okay, baby, you're okay.
02:22I was amazed that he survived what he did
02:24and wanted to rescue him,
02:26but he's big and could give a nasty bite.
02:29So I asked some rescue folks
02:32with proper equipment to capture him.
02:34Awesome work, you guys.
02:36I decided to call him Duke.
02:38It seemed like the right thing to do.
