00:00Look, can you see the snare over here?
00:03Yes, I can, but it looks like just a piece of wire. How does it work?
00:07So, it is basically just a piece of wire or cable
00:10and it's made like a little noose, so it sits open like this
00:14and as soon as the animal puts his head through there and keeps walking, as he
00:18walks
00:18it just gets tighter and tighter around his neck.
00:22So, guys, this is really, really horrible. So this looks like a normal piece of wire, right?
00:27But it's actually not. It's actually set up in a very specific way
00:31and so as the animal goes through here, it just gets tighter
00:35and tighter and tighter around its neck and it actually starts to hurt the animal
00:39and eventually it'll die.
00:47Oh my goodness, now that I would never see.
00:50Yeah, it's very well camouflaged, eh? When they find an area like this with lots of
00:54animals
00:55they'll set these up in a whole long line and all the little
00:58openings, so the animals think they can get through there and then it catches them.
01:03Oh, that's awful. I hate that. Do you guys think there's any more here?
01:06Yes.
01:09Okay, so they said they've
01:15found some more snares here and there's also one gin trap, so let's go have a look.
01:25Careful.
01:29Do you see anything, Brookie?
01:33I see absolutely nothing.
01:35So, they've put a stick here for us to be able to see and they've tied the grass over here
01:40just so that we know exactly where it is, so that they can find it again.
01:43But there's actually a gin trap underneath the soil here.
01:47Wow. So they put this log right in front of it so the animal walks, these two sticks
01:51next to it,
01:52so he's forced to almost step in the middle there. He steps over the log
01:55and straight into the trap. This is absolutely terrible and you can't even
02:00see it
02:00because it's covered in grass and sand, but it's just waiting to kill
02:04any animal in its path.
02:10Oh my goodness.
02:13Have a look here. Imagine if this was an animal's leg.
02:16Look how these metal teeth have just dug straight into that wood.
02:20Wow, that's terrible.
02:21Okay, so this is what our team is looking out for every day,
02:24this and snares.
